Sorry to clutter but just had to post somewhere...after hunting for the past couple months I scored an Xbox Series X from Walmart yesterday and a PS5 bundle from Costco this morning! Funny how it works. Looking forward to playing my ‘19 franchise in ‘20 on the PS5!!!

Just coming in to join the MLB The Show 20 support group. While I don't use this exact setup, I know from years of conversations in these threads and PMs that Armor and I approach how we play The Show (and all sports games) the same way.

I haven't posted as much on The Show forums because it's been tough coming to grips with what we all knew was inevitable. Doesn't make it easier when you see the change actually happen, though. MLB The Show was THE reason I purchased a PSP, PS3, PSVita and PS4. Yes, I have enjoyed other sports and non-sports games on those systems, but the system seller was always MLB The Show.

I also remember back in the day when developers of this game would come here and have great in-depth discussions on the game and how they were always striving for pure simulation. And, I seem to recall a few jabs at other sports games who, at the time, were removing features/modes and neglecting offline, while reinforcing SD Studios' commitment to retaining all features and building on a foundation.

I feel like I'm rambling now, so I'll wrap it up and say that I'll be continuing on with my Mets carryover franchise in MLB 20, and aim to keep playing it for a long while.

I’m extremely close to just coming back to MLB 20. The only thing that sucks is I lost my old franchise somehow.

I’m thinking about trying to simulate the season game by game to try to mimmic last years final standing as much as possible and ensure the Dodgers beat the Rays in the World Series.

Then make the appropriate trades/resigning, and start the 2021 season.

I’m extremely close to just coming back to MLB 20. The only thing that sucks is I lost my old franchise somehow.

I’m thinking about trying to simulate the season game by game to try to mimmic last years final standing as much as possible and ensure the Dodgers beat the Rays in the World Series.

I am all about sitting on pitches in certain spots when I am ahead in the count (count leverage). When I am behind in the count I really go into battle mode with the contact swing and fight to get that count to at least neutral (get from 0-2 or 1-2 back to 2-2).

Sitting on pitches is the critical component to being a successful hitter. Laying off crap is key. I take plenty of high and low strikes....because they will more than likely be hit weakly or not at all.

Plate vision comes with time and practice. Stick with it. If you need to drop down to veteran hitting....do it. Then move up to All-Star once you are crushing it too often. It is a process.

No rush. Just keep at it.

MLB 20 may just be the answer for years to come, as you’ve said. I just wish I had my old franchise. I don’t know how it got deleted. Ugh. I was over 100 games in for the 2020 season.

I’ve kind of expected that, at some point, The Show will cater so much to the Diamond Dynasty crowd that I’ll have to just take the last good game release for franchise and ride it out indefinitely. I guess I just didn’t expect it to happen so abruptly.

I wish you could play 21 and see the difference in hitting. The strikeouts are entirely too frequent and I just don’t even know if I have the time and energy to put into trying to correct it with sliders only for patch after patch to come out that gets a it all out of whack again.

Especially considering the fact that I have MLB 20, that won’t see any more updates, with nearly perfect stats. The only stat that I recall (ironically) using MLB 20 with your sliders is that my strikeouts (when pitching) were not quite high enough.

I know that’s ironic with my complaint about MLB 21 being that there’s too many, but it’s from one extreme to the other. In MLB 20 guys like Darvish who have a career of 11-12K/9 were posing 8-9/K9.

In MLB 21 I’m seeing lesser pitchers (on Hall of Fame) with K/9’s at 13-14.

So I was able to put in a little over 2 hours (2 full games in franchise mode) into 21 last night at a close friends house. I also played the tech test a ton. Which was virtually the same as the retail copy BTW gameplay wise.

As expected gameplay has taken another positive step overall. And I fully expected nothing less. But that is where it started and ended for me.

Why?

It was not an OMG.....I can’t play 20 anymore kinda thing. Not even close. And it is all the other factors that simply kill any desire for me to move on from everything we have on MLB 20.

The bat sounds.....are terrible. They should have left it alone. 20 is perfect.

The score bug colors.....should have left that alone. Way too slick for my taste as I love the team colors on 20’s score bug.

Road to the Show which I went into for a few minutes just to see the fuss....yeah it was butchered and I can see why hardcore RTTS players are up in arms and flipping out.

In no way would I give up all the content and 1000’s of game hours in my various franchises to move to 21.

Its crazy....even if 21 had Y2Y......I would have been letdown. Presentation has received almost zero attention.....and losing SOTS? DEAL BREAKER. Coupled with Y2Y gone? It was a haymaker.

I am going to need to be absolutely floored by any future iteration to ever stop playing MLB 20. I can’t believe it.....but the day came.

So.....I completely get it if others have moved on to 21.....everyone has their own opinions and likes. But it is simply not my game.

We lost too much and gained really.....nothing. To say goodbye to 20 and the content and more importantly various amazing baseball universes I have been able to be a part of and evolve over the years with Y2Y. So here we stay.....for as long as we keep having a blast.

Will I ever get another new version of the Show? For the first time in 15 years....I have no clue. I think the release was handled poorly. I think the game has truly gone in a new direction with the move to the other console. And I think the developers have moved on from franchise mode and putting any concrete effort into it that can make up for losing SOTS and Y2Y.

What is funny is a lot of players never used Y2Y or SOTS......so they truly do not know the impact to this “niche” group. I can’t stand seeing posts like “Well I never used it it does not matter” Hey maybe not to you but it did to us....and I have no problem with those that never used the features....but the poo poo posting on us and calling out as whiners or whatever they want to call it.....F that.

So I promise.....last time I will discuss this topic. It will be all about MLB 20 only in this thread.

And I will also be retiring the classic roster thread in terms of updating it moving forward for MLB 21 as I will not be on that title at all. If someone wants to start a new classic roster thread to keep track of rosters for 21 and beyond.....have at it. I will continue to stay in that thread to discuss rosters that will continue to be made for MLB 20. Because my hunch is they will until those servers shut down (expect that in 2024 probably).

After reading everything everyone has said about 21, I too am sticking with ‘20 using mcnulty rosters. I just started a new franchise with the Braves....lost first game 5-4 but won game 2 9-1....and did something ive never done in the Show...I HIT FOR THE CYCLE.

With acuna or albies you may guess? Nope... Travis D’Arnaud LOL. The crazy part was my triple missed a home run by an inch, and my single was a gapper that I chose not to run to second to get the cycle.

This game and these sliders just keep giving. It’s great. Thanks armor. Let’s have a beer sometime. Cheers
