So Raider Ren suggested I try something on my last stream.

Turn off the “scorebar” display (which is the score bug).

Wow!!!!!! Pure clean screen!!!! I am definitely going to employ this for a lot of my games. Amazing suggestion and another way to “mix it up” and give you even more variety!!!

Back on the air tomorrow night with Yankees Year 5’s mid Summer Classic!! It is the All-Star game!!!

MLB 20 just keeps rolling on folks!!

Also we have decided to roll with MK Harsh’s 2003 roster for a Florida Marlins Single Season Replay!!!

Something I failed to mention about the slider set and playing with Bacons Fictional Roster.

Injuries should be at 6 for all played games and simmed games. His durability ratings globally simply can not handle injuries at 10.

Thank you ! I thought I was getting a ton of injuries. Didn’t hurt me though. Turns out the guys that went in in place of many of my injuries players have played well and really turned the season around for me. Will change the injury slider ASAP

No he means the scorebug / the little box in the corner that tells you the info that you would see if you were watching the game on tv.

What changes if any have people made for these in 21?

Lately I’ve been trying a bit of a Hybrid set that combines Armors and knucklecutter’s sets. Armor’s set has mostly held up but the CPU offense needs a bit more ‘oomph’ on 21 IMO.

Most of my sliders are still Armor’s. Only changes where knucklecutters’s come in are CPU Power to 5, CPU Timing to 3, CPU Foul Frequency to 6. So still 90% Armor’s with a few knucklecutter inspired tweaks. Think I like what I’m seeing so far.

Not slider related but for those that are still playing 20 have you had the game freeze on you lately? Three straight games it’s frozen on me within the first few innings.

It is the score bug. You have the MLB Show Theme Score Bug and MLBN Theme Score bug. It is where you see the score of the game, out’s. balls and strikes etc.

Go to general settings>>>advanced>>> Scorebar display toggle it to of and that will be gone giving you an even cleaner screen.

I play with it off as well as on. Depends on the game, park etc. But it simply add’s another layer of freshness and really gives you the impression you are at the park vs watching it on TV.

Just another option in how to play with an even cleaner screen.

So everyone here knows we have stuck with 20.

However this morning I popped in 21 (yes have a copy that was in the shrink wrap for a long time as it was given to me by a good friend).

I was going to give it the ol college try and create a HOF set calibrated for use with Bacons forth coming remix on his full minors fictional roster.

I literally could not even get through a game.

Something has fundamentally changed under the hood of this game that no slider will fix or make better.

Everyone knows for the last decade I have been probably one of the most enthusiastic supporters of MLB The Show. A great group of guys make this game. They have always been really easy to communicate with and always lended their ear to the community.

But the tides have shifted. The direction of what this game is has changed and the engine has been fundamentally changed.

Words can’t explain it. You juat have to play it to know.

As soon as went back and played 20 I was like “ahhhhhhh” now we are playing baseball again.

I am really sad it came to this….but it has.

So again I gave it a try…..but I have been playing sports games probably longer than some OS’ers have been alive.

MLB 21 is a huge swing and a miss in terms of actual baseball.

Is it beautiful? Yes. The PS5 version is gorgeous. But it plays like garbage. There I said it. Nothing like 20.

20 was the culmination of all the previous games starting with 17 to get to a point of almost a video game baseball nirvana.

And it is 20 where we shall stay.

Be good people. And enjoy whatever version you enjoy. I now have confirmation I am playing the game for me (20).
