I have to say, this game definitely comes in waves both good and bad. I was one of the first to jump on the, “there’s too many home runs,” train. And I feel like to some degree there might still be, but after minor tweaks to pitch consistency and timing I have definite hit the skids. I have lost four of my last six and have gotten beaten badly in a few. My last game I lost 10-2 to Washington.

So as much as my offense was straight up dominating, it’s gone cold. And my pitching, which was average at best is now horrendous.

I say all of this because it’s not like I made sweeping changes to difficulty or sliders. If you keep playing eventually you’re gonna hit a cold streak. The bats are going to be silenced and you’re pitching will struggle.

Right now I just can’t string together any wins, and I have to say that for the most part, I’m enjoying it thoroughly. My main concern was that I was going to win 130 games, have two players hitting over .400 and break the all-time single season home run record. Safe to say, that’s not gonna happen.

These last few days of playing for me have not been fun at all. In 4 games there were a combined 19 home runs. Striking out the cpu has become difficult again or even getting them to miss at a pitch. I shouldn’t always have to get them to chase or fool them. Sometimes you should just be able to blow one by them.

I’m going to put the game down for a few days and come back. Seems like every year I get to the point where pitching to the cpu is boring and unrealistic.

I have to ask. How are strikeouts coming along? lol. I’ll admit I had to make the jump back up to hall of fame.

I’ve moved from last to 27th in the league, barely. But I think the bottom two teams have played one less game than me.

My problem really lies with a few of my pitchers. I cannot strikeout anyone with Quintana. I think the best I’ve had with him is maybe 5 K’s one game. Usually he strikes out 2-3.

I feel you, for sure. I get that way sometimes and when I do, I step back from it. I put the game away for a week or two but I almost always come back.

I really suggest raising pitch consistency one (to 6) and lowering timing to 4. Both for human and CPU. It has definitely resulted in slightly more strikeouts for me and way, way fewer home runs. I’m supremely convinced the home run issue (at least that I was having), was from how many pitches the CPU was laying right down the middle of the plate.

I really enjoyed the late night stream last night Armor! It's cool to get to chat with some of the old timers which is where I fall. LOL and new comers to the game. I know some of us have been around here for a long time and are very passionate about our game and it shows. I have found myself watching more with this years title. I'm not sure if it's the lack of real life baseball or just how good the game is this year. What ever the reason keep streaming guys I love it!

The whole point of classic is to let ratings determine outcomes, with minimal to no user skill. That's what we want.

No it’s not luck it’s ratings. But if you want more input then classic is absolutely not the interface for you.

If you want to meter thats great. We don’t meter here and no...it is not luck. It is RNG/user skill and approach to pitch sequencing, knowing your pitchers and knowing your hitters.

Meter is far more weighted on user skill than ratings.

We play a Strato-Matic approach. So player ratings and a random dice roll are in full effect.

If you don’t like classic pitching that is cool but I don’t want my thread cluttered with meter pitching talk. It is irrelevant in our discussions here.

There are some great slider sets built on meter pitching. This is not one of them.

Hey appreciate the information. Not trying to make waves or anything just curious to what the difference was as I'm fairly new to this world. Love the simulation feel, I didn't realize how much of it was user skill vs ratings. Thanks for clearing that up and keep the livestreams coming. 💪

Now thats what im talking about !! What a great game this was . We visited the Rangers in this one as 2 aces face off , Corey Kluber on the mound for Texas and Ryu on the mound for us . RYU was amazing , striking out 9 and only allowing 2 hits against a very hard hitting lineup . Now i really have these games playing the way they should , homers dont come so easily anymore . No more meatballs down the middle every other pitch , its almost like the CPU pitchers are using their heads now . And theres no better feeling than closing out a game with a guy like Giles and getting that win . im just sooooo loving this game finally again and cant stop playing . Rangers vs Blue Jays , hope u guys enjoy

I was using 6 for the last 15 games or so but was still seeing too many down the middle , I'm now personally on 7 for the last 5 games and they have been brilliant. If you have time just check out the Rangers game and Kluber pitching on the mound and how much better it's been for me .

Just up one click. It's probably the biggest noticeable difference for me thus far. There are not as many meatball pitches with consistency on 6.
