I'm into early June now and on All Star ive noticed that I am hitting doubles into the gaps quite often and homers like crazy almost with ease. Unless I'm just not used to the Mets being this good lol Alonso and Conforto lead the entire league with 27 and 26 long balls respectively. Also I'm not giving up base on balls barely at all. I'm ahead of everyone else in this category I have 120 BB given up closest to me is the Rockies with 212 thats a huge gap there. I know i shouldnt focus on stats like this and I try to just enjoy the game but its glaring to me something is off in a couple categories. And it has been a blast for me on All Star I just feel like I'm too good at times. I'm just wondering if theres something im missing or doing wrong or if theres a way to make it so I am giving up more walks. Maybe control or consistency or playing full count games? I tried to play on HOF really really did. But everytime I do im getting crushed on pitching and even though the hitting side is challenging and fun I am averaging 10-15 walks on HOF batting. Lots of bases loaded walks and Grand Slams. Personally I'm not having as much fun on HOF. Just odd. It feels kinda like Madden where All Star (All Pro) is just a touch easy and HOF (All Madden) is just a touch harder than I would like. I was wondering if you would have any slider suggestions for me using All Star because I'm really loving the game. I want to use all your sliders as is but I know that by playing on All Star things arent going to be the same. So any help here is very much appreciated. Thanks man and stay safe out there.
These are designed for HOF so I suggest either trying to get better and play at this level or stay at all star and use Josh set

As far as walks issues......disregard it. It is a legacy issue in terms of you will probably no matter what settings you use always issue less walks than most if not all of the league. So just get over it and accept it as part of the game. Who cares if your having a blast playing.

As far as your hitting......judge it by year end. Also if your playing every inning of every game you will go cold. Trust me you will.

As far as pitching on HOF you simply have to get better at locating your pitches, pitch sequencing and setting up the CPU batter better, do more advanced scouting on your opponent, you just have to get better to pitch on HOF.

Quick Counts for me is not an option and that is probably part of the issue as the game is manipulating the counts. I realize there are people who love QC and want to be able to play quicker.

That is just not how baseball is meant to be played. Every single pitch is a chess match. Do you employ “play the moments” on Madden? I did not think so. You are missing out on way too much strategy by doing that. What do you think is happening when you do not have full counts and are playing quick counts?

The best advice I can give you is turn off Quick Counts and start truly playing every pitch and get a real feel for the pace of how baseball is really played and what pitch sequencing is all about. Same for working counts at the plate.

Then you will be able to improve your skills to play HOF. But this will also enhance All-Star.

      Start there.

I agree with all of this 100%, especially the pitching aspect. I used to be really bad at pitching until I realized that I was expecting the CPU to swing and miss at pitches that I wouldn't be fooled by. That taught me that I must mix up the way I pitch to the opponent. When I am predicable, I get crushed.

I have to agree with Armor about getting away from QCs. You not only miss out on playing baseball, but due to the nature of how they are done, you run the risk of biasing stats.

The BBs-issued thing is 100% resolvable on AS for MLB20 (I'm middle of the pack in walks allowed with my setup - which was not something possible last year). But given how aggressive the CPU is on HOF, balancing it out there may be very tricky (if not impossible). Don't overly focus on this though...stats aren't worth it.

My personal advice is this: pick the level you enjoy the 'feel' of the most. If it's HOF, stick with Armor's set. If you prefer the feel of AS, I'd invite you to give my setup a shot (I'm "good enough" to manage HOF, I just don't enjoy it at all - so my setup is geared around making AS more challenging, which may meet your needs as well). I don't recommend using a set built for one difficulty on another difficulty....
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider

Funny thing is, I use QC for every game. I've tried not using QC, but I just enjoy the pace of QC games way more. And can get way more games played utilizing it.

I use a Hybrid set between Josh's and Armors sliders. HOF Batting, actually never even tried AS, but no sense dropping down now...and AS Pitching. I have strict rules for myself while pitching on AS.

Pitching I let the catcher call the pitch and spot, and let the dice roll from what happens. It works in all ways for me. I can get high K games and still lose, and low K games and win.

I'm not a stat junkie, and won't play the games for stats, I play for my enjoyment. I think people forget that the sliders that are created are not the Bible, but guidelines to get the best experience out of the game. I'm thankful Armor & Josh test so much to give sliders a base.

If something isn't working to your liking with Sliders, adjust as you feel needed to get your enjoyment out of the game.

Yea w/ QC I am missing some aspects of the game, but at the end of the games I play, I know my enjoyment of it matters more. And not getting slideritis is key, let the games play out.

As far as Stats go w/ QC on, I see nothing crazy out of the ordinary. At least nothing that makes me feel the game is broken.

Almost through with my first game adjusting solid hits to 4. Ive noticed a vast variety of hits as I saw Armor and Josh note. Having a blast!

I’ll probably go ahead and lower solid hits to 4 as well for both human and CPU. I’ve been using timing at 4 as well, and really like it. It causes me to miss more balls and hit them poorly, and most importantly, it causes the CPU to strikeout just a tad bit more. If I live solid hits AND timing to 4 I’m worried I’m going to start nerfing the hitting. Is anyone playing with both solid hits and timing at 4? I am giving up too many hits per game for sure, and I think lowering solid hits would help alleviate that.

Thank you Armor and the rest of you guys too. I got alot of good advice here. I'm going to try full count games I was going to wait until the all star break but im going to jump in now and see how it goes. And Josh I was checking out your set and liked what I saw. I'm going to try and plug on with Armors set and get better at HOF if I cant get there ill try yours on All Star. Far as pitching on AS it feels like I can own the CPU and they swing at everything but on HOF they act smarter and they don't swing outside of the zone as often BUT you will get crushed if not careful. I just need to get better because i do enjoy the challenge there. Another crutch I use and probably another reason I don't serve walks is I'm utilizing help by going with what the catcher calls 99% of the time with the visual feedback on. I guess it's time for me to really try the clean screen approach. Over the years I've given up guess pitch and taken out the strike zone and those both helped once I realized I didnt need them anymore so I'm going to try this as well. Thank you again gentlemen for taking the time much appreciated.

Armor, you think these changes will help with the extremely high amount of home runs I'm seeing?

I'm not kidding when I say more than 90% of runs scored by and against me are on homers. I'm trying to ride it out but it's getting extremely frustrating and I hate to sound dramatic but it genuinely is taking away a lot of the fun and making it feel unplayable. Tough to say since I hate to sound overly critical and complain and have loved playing this game for so many years.

Moving pitch consistency to 6 will lessen the home runs, trust me. One of the main issues with the over-abundance of homers was how many meatballs were being thrown right over the heart of the plate. With consistency at 6 there are fewer meatballs and as a result, fewer home runs.

Had my first HR explosion since the slider adjustments but it all felt legit playing at Yankee Stadium against the lowly Pirates.

Gerrit Cole went to work on his former team, striking out 10 over 6 innings.

I'm just waiting for the schedule to provide me with some real competition now lol. I've only played a total of 9 games against good teams over my first 36.

I have finally hit a terrible slump and lost more than 2 in a row for the first time in 140+ games . The blue jays head into June with a 33-28 record and losers of 7 straight ! I got swept by both the Rays and than the Orioles , now I'm truly playing the Show. And now we head over to St. Louis for only 2 games but I'm so excited to finally get a chance to play there and hopefully snap this losing streak . The Cardinals are struggling themselves and both teams are looking to get back to winning ways . Can't wait to play these 2 games , should be exciting .

                                Absolutely loving V3.

Tonight game three vs The Red Sox as Alex Meyer takes the hill for the Bombers and David Price looks to **** down a red hot Yankees lineup that has destroyed the Red Sox staff.

This weekend....a lot of Bacon’s Fictional Twins as we face the A.L. West leading A’s in the twin cities for our first homestand! Expect tons of streams Friday and Saturday night.

We will also have a few OS Supporters Diamond Dynasty Season 1 games!
