TNK - Boston Red Sox Franchise
American League Division Series Game #3 (Boston leads series 2-0)

Boston Red Sox @ Minnesota Twins
Pitching Matchup - Nathan Eovaldi vs Jake Odorizzi

The Twins got off to a much needed quick start in the bottom of the 1st as Kepler and Polanco started the game with back to back singles and Josh Donaldson would knock them both in when he drove a ball into the gap for a RBI double to give the Twins a 2-0 lead. Eddie Rosario followed with a RBI double and Minnesota had themselves an early 3-0 lead. Miguel Sano started the bottom of the 2nd with a pop up that was perfectly placed as it dropped into shallow RF on the foul line just out of the reach of the diving Verdugo and Sano would wind up with a lead off double and he would come in to score on a sac fly by Polanco and the Twins had a 4-0 lead after two innings. The Red Sox would get on the board in the top of the 4th when Michael Chavis came through with a RBI double with 2 outs to cut the Twins lead to 4-1. Eovaldi had settled down after the shaky 1st inning and was starting to get locked in when he was forced to leave the game with a foot injury in the bottom of the 4th. Collin McHugh came in to replace Eovaldi and would get through the inning with no runs scoring and we would move to the 5th inning with Minnesota leading 4-1. Odorizzi would strikeout Rafael Devers with a runner in scoring position to end the top of the 5th and Jorge Polanco would lead off the bottom of the 5th with a HR down the RF line off McHugh to make it a 5-1 game after 5 innings. Xander Bogaerts would single to begin the top of the 6th and Mitch Moreland would get into a hitters count with 1 out and he got a fastball over the plate from Odorizzi and hit it high and deep to CF and just out of the reach of Buxton who climbed the CF wall for a 2-run HR to get the Red Sox back in this game cutting the deficit to 5-3. Michael Chavis was up next and he would drive a ball just over the wall in LF for a solo HR as the Red Sox go back to back and cut the Twins lead to 5-4. Odorizzi was rattled and would exit after walking Verdugo with 2 outs as Matt Wisler made his way in from the Twins pen with Jackie Bradley coming up. Wisler would pitch out in a 1 & 1 count thinking Verdugo may be running which put Bradley into a hitters count at the plate and on the next pitch Bradley would get a fastball up in the zone and crushed a 2-run HR to RF for the 3rd Red Sox HR of the inning and suddenly the Red Sox now had a 6-5 lead. The Red Sox kept coming as Benintendi walked and Devers singled to bring up Bogaerts with two men on and 2 outs but he would ground out to Donaldson at 3rd base as the Red Sox sent 10 men to the plate and erupted for 5 runs to take a 6-5 lead. Darwinzon Hernandez took over on the mound for Boston and recorded two quick outs before hanging a curveball to Miguel Sano who hammered a 439 foot bomb to LF for a solo HR to tie the score 6-6. Hernandez would get Buxton to fly out to Verdugo in RF to send the game to the 7th inning with the score tied 6-6. JD Martinez singled off Wisler to lead off the top of the 7th and Tyler Duffey would come in from the pen to replace Wisler on the mound. Duffey and Moreland would battle to a full count and Duffey would try to put a fastball low and away to Moreland but Moreland was on it and drove it opposite field into the second deck in LF for a 2-run HR as the Red Sox come right back to take a 8-6 lead. Hernandez struck out Kepler to begin the bottom of the 7th before Polanco laid down a perfect bunt for a single to bring up Nelson Cruz with a man on and 1 out. Ryan Brasier came in to face Cruz and did his job as Cruz bounced to Bogaerts to start an inning ending 6-4-3 double play to send the game to the 8th inning with Boston leading 8-6. Cody Stashak gave the Twins a much needed 1-2-3 inning as he retired the Red Sox in order in the top of the 8th. Brasier remained in the game to pitch the bottom of the 8th and would pitch around a 1 out double by Rosario as he struck out Garver and got Arraez to ground out to Chavis to end the inning and send the game to the 9th inning with the Red Sox leading 8-6. Zack Littell took over on the mound for Minnesota in the top of the 9th as the Red Sox were looking to add some insurance. JD Martinez singled with 1 out and Moreland would hit a rocket down the RF line just missing his 3rd HR of the game as the ball hoked just foul. Littell would get Moreland to hit into a 4-6-3 double play on the next pitch to end the top of the 9th. The Twins would come to bat in the bottom of the 9th trailing 8-6 with their season on the line as Brandon Workman was coming in to pitch for Boston looking to close it out the series and send the Red Sox to the ALCS. Miguel Sano led off the bottom of the 9th with a routine fly ball to Verdugo in RF for the 1st out. Byron Buxton would line a ball up the middle for a single with 1 out to bring the tying run to the plate for Minnesota. Max Kepler put up a good battle but Workman would get him swinging at a back door cutter for the 2nd out and the Twins were down to their final out. Jorge Polanco would hit a flare into LF for a single to keep the game going for the Twins and bring up Nelson Cruz with two men on and two outs. The Red Sox were one out away from a trip to the ALCS with Minnesota threatening as they had the tying run on base and the potential winning run at the plate but Workman would strikeout Nelson Cruz on a nasty curveball to end the game and send the Red Sox to the American League Championship Series as they hang on to win 8-6 and sweep the ALDS series 3-0 over the Twins

    * The Red Sox trailed 5-1 heading into the 6th inning as the Twins were cruising in front of their home crowd and looking to get back in the series before the Red Sox exploded for 5 runs in the top of the 6th when Moreland and Chavis hit back to back home runs to cut the Twins lead to 5-4 and Jackie Bradley would hit a 2-run HR to give Boston a 6-5 lead. The Twins answered in the bottom of the 6th with a HR from Miguel Sano to tie the game 6-6 but Mitch Moreland would take Tyler Duffey deep for his 2nd HR of the game giving Boston a 8-6 lead in the top of the 7th. Ryan Brasier would bridge the game to the 9th inning where the Twins were threatening against Brandon Workman with two men on and two outs and Nelson Cruz stepping in but Workman would strike Cruz out chasing a filthy curveball away for the final out as the Red Sox win 8-6 and advance to the ALCS

    * The Red Sox sweep the Twins 3-0 to advance to the American League Championship Series

    * Nathan Eovaldi lasted just 3 innings allowing 4 runs on 7 hits with 5 Ks and left the game with a foot injury but will not require a DL stint and will be available for the ALCS

    * Jake Odorizzi was pitching well before falling apart in the 6th inning as he winds up throwing 5.2 innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits with 3 walks and 8 Ks

    * Mitch Moreland was the hero for Boston as he got the comeback started with a 2-run HR in the 6th to cut the Twins lead to 5-3 which sparked the big inning and then came up to bat with the score tied in the 7th inning and blasted his 2nd HR of the game into the second deck in LF to give Boston the 8-6 lead. Moreland finished the day 3 for 5 with 2 HR & 4 RBI

    * Micahel Chavis went 3 for 4 with a double, HR & 2 RBI and Chavis had a great series going 6 for 11 with 3 doubles, 2 HR & 5 RBI

    * Jorge Polanco went 4 for 4 with a HR & 2 RBI while Miguel Sano went 2 for 4 with a double, HR & 1 RBI to lead the offensive attack for Minnesota

    * Nelson Cruz struck out for the final out of the Twins season and had a brutal series in the ALDS going 0 for 13 with 5 Ks and hit into 2 double plays

    * The Red Sox advance to the ALCS where they will face the New York Yankees who swept the Houston Astros 3-0 in their ALDS series to advance to the ALCS. The the greatest rivalry in baseball is set to square off in a best of 7 series with a trip to the World Series on the line

TNK - Boston Red Sox Franchise
American League Championship Series - Game #1 (Series Tied 0-0)

New York Yankees @ Boston Red Sox
Pitching Matchup - Gerritt Cole vs Chris Sale

The Red Sox and Yankees rivalry adds another chapter as they meet in the 2020 ALCS and Game 1 will feature an incredible pitching matchup as Yankees ace Gerritt Cole will face Boston ace and 2020 AL Cy Young winner Chris Sale

The game was scoreless after two innings as Chris Sale was sharp early on and the Red Sox had runners on the corners with 2 outs in the bottom of the 2nd inning but Gerritt Cole would get a big strikeout of Jackie Bradley to end the threat and the game would move to the 3rd inning tied 0-0. Sale continued to cruise and was through the top of the 4th while Cole would retire the side in the bottom of the 4th but was up to 71 pitches thrown as the Red Sox were making him work hard for outs and the game would move to the 5th inning tied 0-0. Sale and Cole each ptiched scoreless frames in the 5th inning to send the game to the 6th inning tied 0-0. Sale retried the side in the top of the 6th striking out Judge and Torres to give him 7 Ks on the night. Andrew Benintendi had a great at bat to lead off the bottom of the 6th as he singled on the 8th pitch of the AB but Cole would get Rafael Devers to hit into a 4-6-3 double play and Bogaerts would ground out to end the 6th with Cole at 91 pitches and we would move to the 7th inning with the score still tied 0-0. Sale was up to 9 Ks in the game as he struck out Stanton and Sanchez and retired the side in order again in the top of the 7th. The Red Sox would threaten when JD Martinez led off the bottom of the 7th with a double off the wall in RF and Mitch Moreland would punch a single through the hole into RF to give Boston runners on the corners with nobody out. Michael Chavis would hit a ball half way up the green monster for a RBI double to give Boston a 1-0 lead and knock Cole out of the game as Zach Britton came on in a tough spot as the Red Sox had runners on 2nd & 3rd base with nobody out. Christian Vazquez grounded out to Torres with the drawn in infield and the runners had to hold. Britton would get a huge strikeout of Verdugo for the 2nd out but would walk Jackie Bradley setting up a huge at bat for Andrew Beintendi as he stepped in with the bases loaded and 2 outs. Britton would get Benintendi to pop out to LeMahieu as he comes out of the pen and gets 3 outs without allowing the runner on 3rd to score and we would go to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 1-0. Sale would get Voit to begin the top of the 8th before Gio Urshela singled to put a man on with 1 out. Miguel Andujar would hit the ball hard to the left side but Devers would make a nice play moving to his left to start an inning ending 5-4-3 double play and Sale was through 8 shutout innings on the mound having thrown just 87 pitches. Jonathan Holder came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for New York and retired the side in order to send the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 1-0. The Yankees would come to bat with the top of the order due up in the top of the 9th needing a run as they trailed 1-0 and Chris Sale would return to the mound looking to go the distance and finish off Game 1. DJ LeMahieu bouned back to Sale for the 1st out bringing up Aaron Judge who was 0 for 3 with 3 Ks on the night. Judge would hit a ground ball through the right side for a single with 1 out. Gleyber Torres would swing at the first pitch as he got a fastball low and away from Sale and hit the ball hard but right at Mitch Moreland who fielded it cleanly and threw to Bogaerts who fired back over to Sale covering the bag for a game ending 3-6-1 double play as Sale throws a complete game shutout and the Red Sox take Game 1 of the ALCS by a score of 1-0

            * The Red Sox and Yankees were locked in a scoreless tie as Chris Sale and Gerrit Cole were going toe to toe in a fantastic pitchers duel until the Red Sox got a run in the bottom of the 7th on a RBI double by Michael Chavis to take a 1-0 lead. Chris Sale would go the distance and the Red Sox would go on to win 1-0 and take a 1-0 series lead in the ALCS

            * Chris Sale showed why he won the AL Cy Young award as he dominated Game 1 pitching a complete game shutout as he pitched all 9 innings allowing no runs on 5 hits while striking out 9 Yankees in the game

            * Gerritt Cole pitched well for New York but had a high pitch count as he would last into the 7th inning but could not record an out finishing with a line of 6.0 innings pitched allowing 1 run on 6 hits with 1 walk and 7 Ks as he takes the loss

            * Michael Chavis supplied the only run of the game with a RBI double off the green monster to snap the scoreless tie in the bottom of the 7th and continues his excellent postseason as he is hitting .538

            * Aaron Judge went 1 for 4 with 3 Ks for New York

            * JD Martinez and Xandeer Bogaerts each went 1 for 4 with a double for Boston

            * The Red Sox and Yankees will play Game 2 of the ALCS tomorrow night with Eduardo Rodriguez taking the mound for Boston against James Paxton for New York

            HIGHLIGHTS
Chris Sale finishes off a complete game shutout getting Gleyber Torres to hit into a game ending double play

TNK - Boston Red Sox Franchise
American League Championship Series - Game #2 (Boston leads series 1-0)

New York Yankees @ Boston Red Sox
Pitching Matchup - James Paxton vs Eduardo Rodriguez

The Red Sox and Yankees prepare to play Game 2 of the ALCS after the Red Sox won Game 1 by a score of 1-0 behind a complete game shutout from Chris Sale. Eduardo Rodriguez will be on the mound for Boston coming off a complete game shutout against Minnesota in the ALDS and New York will counter with James Paxton as the Red Sox look to take a commanding 2-0 series lead while the Yankees will be looking to even the series 1-1 before it shifts to New York for 3 games at Yankee Stadium

The Yankees were threatening in the top of the 2nd after Gary Sanchez walked and Brett Gardner singled to put two men on for New York with nobody out but Eduardo Rodriguez come back with 3 straight Ks as Voit and Urshela went down swinging at the changeup away and Rodriguez would freeze Miguel Andujar with a 96 mph fastball on the corner to get out of the inning as Rodriguez had 5 Ks through 2 innings of work. Paxton would make quick work of the Red Sox in the bottom of the 2nd and we would go to the 3rd inning with no score 0-0. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 4th when Rafael Devers led off with a double and Paxton would hang a curveball to Xander Bogaerts who drove it high and deep to RF as Judge raced back to the warning track but could not make the grab and the ball would bounce off the top of the wall and into the Yankees bullpen for a 2-run HR to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead. Paxton was in trouble after singles by JD Martinez and Michael Chavis put runners on the corners with 1 out for Christian Vazquez who chopped a ball up the middle that Torres would get to but had no play and Martinez would score to make it 3-0. Paxton would get Pillar to fly out and Bradley to ground out to escape the inning with no further damage but was no up to 75 pitches through 4 innings and we would go to the 5th with Boston leading 3-0. The Yankees were threatening in the top of the 5th when they would load the bases with 1 out for Aaron Judge. Rodriguez would settle down after a mound visit and get out of the jam with back to back Ks as Judge went down swinging at a 96 mph fastball up and in for the 2nd out and Rodriguez would set up Gleyber Torres beautifully with fastballs and cutters in on the hands before putting him away with a changeup low and away to end the threat with his 9th strikeout of the night as the Yankees strand the bases loaded and still trail 3-0. Paxton made quick work of the Red Sox in the bottom of the 5th to send the game to the 6th inning with the Red Sox leading 3-0. The Yankees began the top of the 6th with back to back singles from Stanton and Sanchez and Rodriguez would just miss his spots and issue a walk to Brett Gardner to load the bases for New York with nobody out and Luke Voit coming to the plate. Rodriguez would make a big pitch to get Voit to ground into a 6-4-3 double play for two huge outs but Stanton would score the Yankees first run of the series to make it a 3-1 game. Gio Urshela came up with 2 outs and a Sanchez on 3rd base and Rodriguez would finish his night by freezing Urshela on a filthy back door cutter that caught the outside edge of the plate for his 10th K of the game as he limits the damage and the Yankees fail to put together a big inning as we move to the bottom of the 6th with Boston up 3-1. Mitch Moreland would single with 1 out in the bottom of the 6th and Adam Ottavino would come in from the pen to replace Paxton on the mound for New York and retire Chavis and Vazquez to send the game to the 7th inning with Boston leading 3-1. Ryan Brasier took over on the mound for Boston and recorded two quick outs before leaving a fastball over the plate with two strikes and Aaron Judge connected for a solo HR to LF to cut the Red Sox lead to 3-2. Gleyber Torres would fly out to Bradley in CF for the 3rd out and we would go to the bottom of the 7th with Boston up 3-2. Tyler Lyons came on to pitch for New York and got himself into trouble as Kevin Pillar drew a lead off walk and back to back singles by Bradley and Benintendi would load the bases with nobody out. Rafael Devers came to the plate with a big opportunity to blow this game open. Devers would hit a high chopper to Urshela at 3rd base and his only play was to cut down Benintendi for the force out at second base as Pillar score making it 4-2. Xander Bogaerts came up with runners on the corners and would get a fastball down and in from Lyons and absolutely crushed it 449 feet for a 3-run HR over everything in LF to blow the game open and extend the Boston lead to 7-2. Matt Barnes would pitch a scoreless top of the 8th for Boston and Chad Green would get Benintendi to ground out to end the bottom of the 8th with runners at the corners to send the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 7-2. The Yankees came up to bat in the top of the 9th needing a miracle as they trail 7-2 with Brandon Workman coming on to try and close it out for Boston. The Yankees would have two on with 1 out for Judge after singles by Urshela and Lemahieu but Judge would pop out for the 2nd out of the inning and the Yankees were down to their final out with Torres stepping in. Workman would get Torres swinging on a curveball to end the game and the Red Sox win 7-2 to take a commanding 2-0 series lead

              * The Red Sox get a strong performance from Eduardo Rodriguez and 2 home runs from Xander Bogaerts to lead them to a 7-2 victory in Game 2 and a 2-0 series lead in the ALCS

              * Eduardo Rodriguez pitched 6 strong innings allowing 1 run on 8 hits with 2 walks and 10 Ks to improve to 2-0 with a 0.60 ERA through 2 postseason starts

              * James Paxton pitched 5.1 innings allowing 3 runs on 7 htis with 1 walk and 4 Ks as he took the loss and falls to 1-1 in the postseason with a 3.27 ERA

              * Xander Bogaerts had a big night for Boston going 2 for 3 with a walk, 2 HR & 5 RBI. Bogaerts got the scoring started with a 2-run HR in the 4th inning and then blew the game open with a mammoth 449 foot 3-run bomb in the 7th inning to make it a 7-2 ball game after the Yankees had just cut the Red Sox lead to 3-2 in the top of the 7th

              * Aaron Judge went 1 for 5 with his 1st HR of the postseason for the Yankees and New York is hoping this will get Judge going as they will need him to get hot if they're going to come back in this series. Judge is 2 for 9 through the first two games of the ALCS with 6 Ks

              * Matt Barnes and Brandon Workman were able to slam the door in the 8th & 9th innings for Boston

              * The ALCS will shift to Yankees stadium for games 3 & 4 as well as game 5 (if necessary) with Boston holding a 2-0 series lead. Nathan Eovaldi will start Game 3 for Boston against Masahiro Tanaka who will look to step up and deliver a solid outing for New York as they try to avoid falling behind 3-0

              HIGHLIGHTS
Xander Bogaerts hit 2 HR as he hit a 2-run HR in the 4th and crushed a 449 foot 3-run bomb in the 7th inning to blow the game open

TNK - Boston Red Sox Franchise
American League Championship Series - Game #3 (Boston leads series 2-0)

Boston Red Sox @ New York Yankees
Pitching Matchup - Nathan Eovaldi vs Masahiro Tanaka

The Red Sox and Yankees prepare to play Game 3 of the ALCS as the series shifts to Yankee Stadium in New York for games 3 through 5 (if necessary) with the Red Sox holding a commanding 2-0 series lead. Nathan Eovaldi will be on the mound for Boston making his 2nd postseason start after lasting just 3 innings against Minnesota in the ALDS and New York will counter with Masahiro Tanaka who allowed 1 run in 6 innings in his ALDS start against Houston as the Yankees look to avoid falling behind 3-0 in the series

The Red Sox would waste a lead off single in the top of the 1st by Benintendi as Tanaka would retire the next 3 hitters and Eovaldi would start his night by sitting down the first two Yankees batters before 3 straight 2 out singles by Gleyber Torres, Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez would give New York a 1-0 lead. Jackie Bradley walked with 1 out in the top of the 3rd and was injured diving back to the first base bag on a pick off attempt forcing him to leave the game with a swollen knee. Kevin Pillar entered the game as a runner for Bradley and Andrew Benintendi would hit a high fly ball deep to RF but Aaron Judge would get back to wall and reach up to make the catch robbing Benintendi of a 2-run HR for the 2nd out and Tanaka would strikeout Devers to end the top of the 3rd while Eovaldi would make quick work of the Yankees in the bottom of the 3rd to send the game to the 4th inning with New York leading 1-0. Tanaka had it going on the mound as he got JD Martinez to ground into a double play ending the top of the 4th and Verdugo to ground into another double play to end the top of the 5th as the score remained 1-0. Eovaldi would get Judge to roll into a 4-6-3 double play ending the bottom of the 5th and we would head to the 6th inning with the Yankees leading 1-0. The Red Sox were threatening in the top of the 6th after Devers doubled with 2 outs and Bogaerts drew a walk to bring up JD Martinez with two men on and 2 outs. Martinez would rip a rocket back up the middle for a RBI single scoring Devers to tie the game 1-1 and Tanaka would get Moreland to ground out to escape the inning with no further damage. Giancarlo Stanton doubled with 1 out in the bottom of the 6th but Eovaldi would get Sanchez to fly out and struck out Brett Gardner to end the inning and send the game to the 7th inning with the score tied 1-1. Tanaka would get through the top of the 7th and the Yankees were threatening in the bottom of the 7th when Tyler Wade was on first base after hitting into a fielders choice when Urshela lined a single into RF and Verdugo would bobble the ball in RF allowing Wade to race to 3rd base to set up runners on the corners with DJ LeMahieu coming up. LeMahieu would hit a slow roller up the middle and Bogaerts would get to it but had no play as LeMahieu reaches on an infield single and picks up the RBI to give the Yankes a 2-1 lead. Aaron Judge came up with two men on and 1 out and Eovaldi would make some clutch pitches and get Judge to ground into a 4-6-3 inning ending double play sending the game to the 8th inning with the Yankees now leading 2-1. Zach Britton was on to pitch the top of the 8th for New York and Benintendi would single to LF to lead off the inning for Boston. Britton would get a huge strikeout of Devers for the 1st out and Bogaerts would hit a ball high and deep to CF but Gardner would make the catch on the warning track for the 2nd out to bring up JD Martinez for a big at bat with a man on and 2 outs. Martinez stepped in and got a slider over the plate on the first pitch from Britton and yanked a liner towards the LF corner that got down as Tyler Wade was unable to make the diving catch as Benintendi came in to score all the way from first base for a huge RBI double from Martinez with 2 outs to tie the score 2-2. Britton would come back with a big strikeout of Moreland to end the top of the 8th with the score tied 2-2. Matt Barnes came on from the Red Sox bullpen to begin the bottom of the 8th and retired the side in order registering back to back Ks of Stanton and Sanchez to end the 8th inning and send the game to the 9th inning with the score tied 2-2. Jonathan Holder was on to pitch for New York and recorded two quick outs and had two strikes on Alex Verdugo who fouled off several two strike pitches to stay alive before Holder left a fastball over the plate and Verdugo would drive it high and deep to right-center hitting high off the wall and just missing a HR by inches as Verdugo would wind up on third base with a stand up triple to bring up Kevin Pillar for a huge at bat with 2 outs and the potential go ahead run 90 feet away. Pillar would draw a walk bringing up Andrew Benintendi with runners on the corners and 2 outs. Benintendi would get a head in the count and got a pitch to hit as he hammered it high and deep to right-center for what looked like a go ahead 3-run HR but Aaron Judge would make an incredible leaping catch to rob Benintendi of a HR for the 2nd time tonight ending the top of the 9th and saving the game for New York. The Yankees would come to bat in the bottom of the 9th with a chance to win the game with Darwinzon Hernandez coming on to pitch for Boston. Brett Gardner would line a ball into the RF corner for a lead off double and the Yankees had the potential winning run in scoring position with nobody out. The Red Sox would intentionally walk Luke Voit to get the lefty matchup against Wade who would lay down a sac bunt to move the runners up. Hernandez would intentionally walk Urshela to load the bases and try to set up a double play as Ryan Brasier would make his way in to a difficult situation with the game on the line and DJ LeMahieu coming to the plate with a chance to be the hero with the bases loaded and 1 out. LeMahieu would pop up into shallow RF where Moreland would get to the ball and make the catch for a huge 2nd out of the inning and setting up a showdown between Brasier and Aaron Judge. Brasier would win the battle as he ran a 98 mph fastball up and in to Judge who hit a routine fly ball to Benintendi in LF as Brasier does a tremendous job and escapes the jam as the Yankees strand the bases loaded and Game 3 would head to extra innings. Holder and Brasier would each pitch 1-2-3 frames in the 10th inning to send the game to the 11th inning with the score tied 2-2. The Red Sox had a chance in the top of the 11th when Verdugo hit a ball in the gap for extra bases with 2 outs and Moreland tried to score all the way from first base but was gunned down on a great relay throw to the plate to end the top of the 11th. Miguel Andujar had come on as a pinch runner in the 9th for Voit and singled with 1 out in the bottom of the 11th and Josh Taylor would replace Brasier on the mound with Tyler Wade coming up. Taylor would get Wade and Urshela on fly ball outs to send the game to the 12th inning with the score still tied 2-2. Kevin Pillar walked to lead off the top of the 12th and would advance when Ottavino's pick off attempt got away from Andujar at first base allowing Pillar to take off and just beat the throw and tag at second base. Benintendi already had two strikes so he could not lay down a sac bunt and would go down swinging for the 1st out. Devers would foul off 6 pitches with 2 strikes before finally striking out on a slider in the dirt for the 2nd out. Tyler Lyons would replace Ottavino on the mound with Xander Bogaerts coming to the plate with 2 outs and the potential go ahead run in scoring position and Bogaerts would hit the ball hard but right to Gardner in CF as the Red Sox strand Pillar and we would go to the bottom of the 12th. Taylor would get LeMahieu and Judge for 2 quick outs in the bottom of the 12th bringing up Gleyber Torres who turned on an inside fastball and hit it deep towards the LF corner where Benintendi raced back and leaped at the wall but could not reach it as Torres hits a walk off HR in the bottom of the 12th to give the Yankees a 3-2 win and we have ourselves a series!

                WHAT A GAME!!!!!!

                * The Red Sox and Yankees played an all time classic in ALCS Game 3 as new York took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 7th before JD Martinez delivered a big RBI double with 2 outs in the top of the 8th to tie the game at 2-2. Aaron Judge robbed Benintendi of a 3-run HR with 2 outs in the top of the 9th and Brasier would come in and escape a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the 9th to send the game to extra innings where Gleyber Torres hit a walk off HR with 2 outs in the bottom of the 12th to give New York a 3-2 victory

                * The Red Sox lead the series 2-1

                * Natahan Eovaldi pitched great for Boston throwing 7 strong innings allowing 2 runs on 9 hits with 4 Ks

                * Masahiro Tanaka pitched great for New York throwing 7 innings allowing 1 run on 6 hits with 3 walks and 4 Ks

                * Gleyber Torres won it with a walk off HR in the bottom of the 12th on a 2 for 6 night

                * JD Martinez was 2 for 5 and with a double and 2 RBI as he knocked in both Boston runs in the game

                * Aaron Judge was a difference maker in RF for the Yankees as he robbed Benintendi of two home runs in the game with the second robbery coming in the top of the 9th on a play which may change the series when he made a leaping catch at the wall to pull back what would have been a go ahead 3-run HR and given the Red Sox a 5-2 lead and a likely 3-0 series lead

                * The Red Sox and Yankees will be back in action tomorrow night with the Yankees looking to even the series. Boston will have Martin Perez on the mound for Game 4 and he will be opposed by Jordan Montgomery for New York

                HIGHLIGHTS

                  Re: TNK MLB 20 Sliders

Plugged these in today and thought I'd give a quick bit of feedback about how they felt. I was becoming frustrated with the gameplay that I was getting so thought I'd give someone else's slider a try. I only played one game with them but figured it wouldn't hurt to give a first impression.

                  These felt really good!

I was skeptical about such a drastic reduction across a number of the hitting sliders, as I was worried that it would feel like I couldn't ever get a hit. This wasn't the case, though. Instead, it forced me to actually focus on the game and the situation, and put more thought into the type of pitch that I was about to receive. Before, I could basically just zone out and swing at anything that came close to the zone. Even when I was 'very late', I'd usually still nick it and stay in the At Bat. With these sliders, there were far more swings and misses, which is something I've been looking to achieve in the gameplay.

When I did lock in, it felt like I could get a hit, and it still felt like I could knock it out of the park despite the low Power slider. I hit two home runs in the game, but had to work for both of them. Neither felt cheap or easy. Both of them came off the bat of a good hitter, when I was 2-0 up in the count, when I had laid off two pitches inside, and when I had a good idea of what pitch was coming. Outside of these two hits, I had one other similar hit that fell just short and was caught on the warning track, and was forced to take what I could get otherwise. I finished the game with 6 hits, 3 runs, and 2 home runs.

The CPU didn't score, and only had 5 hits in the game, so there wasn't a great deal of offense overall. Since it was only a single game, I won't read too much into that just yet, but I'll keep an eye on the number of hits, etc. going forward. I didn't play the game on Hall of Fame, but had it just a notch lower, locked into All Star + on Dynamic Difficulty. If the low hits continue, I can always try notching it up to Hall of Fame as in the OP.

I love playing Franchise in all sports games, but the mode is only fun for me when the gameplay is realistic. So thanks a lot for putting the work into these sliders and sharing them with the community. Fingers crossed I keep getting games like I had this evening!

Yes - until the offseason where I will switch the other teams to make their own signings and trades

American League Championship Series - Game #4 (Boston leads series 2-1)

Boston Red Sox @ New York Yankees
Pitching Matchup - Martin Perez vs Jordan Montgomery

The Red Sox and Yankees prepare to play Game 4 of the ALCS coming off an epic Game 12 inning battle in Game 3 where the Yankees won on a walk off HR by Gleyber Torres. Martin Perez takes the mound for Boston in a pivotal Game 4 against Jordan Montgomery as the Yankees look to even the series at 2-2 and the Red Sox look to push the Yankees to the brink and take a 3-1 series lead

The Red Sox got off to quick start in the top of the 1st inning as Benintendi walked to lead off the game and came in to score when JD Martinez ripped a ground ball past Urshela down the 3rd base line for a RBI double to give Boston a 1-0 lead. Martin Perez retired the Yankees in order bottom of the 1st and Boston had a 1-0 lead after 1 inning. The Red Sox would add to the lead in the top of the 2nd when Alex Verdugo doubled and Kevin Pillar would drive him in with a RBI single up the middle to make it 2-0. The Yankees would threaten after a lead off double by Giancarlo Stanton in the bottom of the 2nd but Perez would get Luke Voit to pop out to end the inning and we would move to the 3rd inning with Boston leading 2-0. The Yankees got a 1 out double from Miguel Andujar in the bottom of the 3rd but Perez would come back to get LeMahieu to pop up and struck out Aaron Judge on a changeup away to end the threat and send the game to the 4th inning with Boston leading 2-0. The Red Sox were threatening in the top of the 4th when Xander Bogaerts came to the plate with two men on and 2 outs and he would jump a first pitch fastball from Montgomery and hammer it high and deep to LF for a 3-run HR to blow the game open and extend the Red Sox lead to 5-0. Luis Cessa replaced Montgomery on the mound to begin the top of the 5th and would get out of a jam when he struck out Pillar with two men on to end the top half of the 5th and Perez would retire the Yankees in order in the bottom of the 5th sending the game to the 6th inning with Boston leading 5-0. The Red Sox continued to pour it on in the top of the 6th when Devers would double with 1 out before three consecutive RBI doubles from Bogaerts, Martinez and Moreland would increase the Sox lead to 8-0. Christian Vazquez would knock in Moreland with a RBI single to make it 9-0. The Yankees would get on the board in the bottom of the 6th as Andujar and LeMahieu started the inning with back to back singles and Aaron Judge would hit a ball in the gap to drive in two runs with a RBI double to make it 9-2. The Yankees would catch an awful break as Gleyber Torres flew out to deep CF and Judge tagged and advanced to 3rd base but was injured on the slide and had to leave the game as Tyler Wade replaced Judge. Giancarlo Stanton would knock Wade in with a RBI single to LF cutting the deficit to 9-3. Perez would limit the damage as he would get Gary Sanchez to bounce into a 6-4-3 inning ending double play and the game would move to the 7th inning with Boston leading 9-3. Tyler Lyons worked a scoreless top of the 7th for New York and Perez would retire Gardner to begin the bottom of the 7th before turning it over to Heath Hembree who got the final two outs to send the game to the 8th inning with the score 9-3. Chad Green and Hembre pitched scoreless frames in the 8th inning to and we would go to the 9th inning with the Red Sox leading 9-3. Zach Britton came on to pitch the top of the 9th and Xander Bogaerts who was a triple shy of the cycle would come to the plate with two men on and two outs would foul off several two strike pitches before lining a RBI single into CF on the 9th pitch of the at bat to add an insurance run making it 10-3. Ryan Brasier pitched a scoreless bottom of the 9th and the Red Sox take a commanding 3-1 series lead after a 10-3 drubbing of the Yankees in Game 4 of the ALCS

                        * The Red Sox offense pounded out 10 runs on 18 hits led by Xander Bogaerts and JD Martinez who combined to go 7 for 12 with 7 RBI while Martin Perez pitched well and the Red Sox would win game 4 by a score of 10-3

                        * Martin Perez pitched 6.1 solid innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 7 Ks to earn the win in his first postseason start as a Red Sox

                        * Jordan Montgomery got tagged for 5 runs on 8 hits in 4.0 innings with 2 walks and no Ks as he was tagged with the loss

                        * Xander Bogaerts had a monster game finishing a triple shy of the cycle as he goes 4 for 6 with 2 singles, 1 double, 1 HR & 5 RBI. Bogaerts is the favorite for ALCS MVP as he has 3 HR and 10 RBI in the series

                        * JD Martinez went 3 for 6 with 2 doubles & 2 RBI as he is hitting .400 in the postseaosn

                        * Michael Chavis went 2 for 4 with a triple as he continues to have a strong postseason and is hitting .423

                        * Giancarlo Stanton went 3 for 4 with a double & 1 RBI as he is hitting .333 in the postseason

                        * Aaron Judge was having a tough postseason hitting just .156 and knocked in 2 RBI with a double but was injured sliding into 3rd base. The Yankees caught a devastating break as Judge suffered a fractured forearm and is finished for the season

                        * The Yankees will add Aaron Hicks to the lineup to take Judge place in RF

                        * The Red Sox take a commanding 3-1 series lead in the ALCS and find themselves one win away from a trip to the World Series while the Yankees find themselves on the brink of elimination and with their backs against the wall as the teams prepare for game 5 tomorrow night at Yankees Stadium. Game 5 will feature a rematch of the game 1 pitching matchup as Boston will send Chris Sale to the mound looking to punch the Red Sox ticket to the World Series while the Yankees will turn to Gerrit Cole who will try to keep the Yankees season alive and send the series back to Boston

TNK - Boston Red Sox Franchise
American League Championship Series - Game #5 (Boston leads series 3-1)

Boston Red Sox @ New York Yankees
Pitching Matchup - Chris Sale vs Gerrit Cole

The Red Sox and Yankees prepare to play Game 5 of the ALCS with the Red Sox leading the series 3-1 and trying to advance to the World Series. Chris Sale takes the mound for Boston against Gerrit Cole in a battle of the aces as the Yankees look to stay alive and send the series back to Boston for Game 6 at Fenway Park

The Red Sox would get to Gerrit Cole in the top of the 1st inning as they had two men on with 2 outs and Mitch Moreland would get a 97 mph fastball with a full count and Moreland launched a towering fly ball into the second deck in RF for a 3-run HR to give Boston the early 3-0 lead. Chris Sale was sharp in his first two innings of work and the game would head to the 3rd inning with Boston leading 3-0. Xander Bogaerts incredible ALCS continued in the top of the 3rd when Cole hung a curveball and Bogaerts absolutely crushed it 447 feet into the second deck in LF to extend the Sox lead to 4-0. The Red Sox would add to the lead in the top of the 4th when Alex Verdugo tripled with 1 out and came in to score on a RBI ground out by Kevin Pillar to make it 5-0. Andrew Benintendi would double with 2 outs in the inning and Aaron Boone had seen enough as he came to the mound to get Cole who would exit as Luis Cessa came in from the pen and would get out of the inning with no further damage. Giancarlo Stanton would get the crowd back into the game and give the Yankees life when he took Sale deep for a solo HR int he bottom of the 4th and we would head to the 5th inning with Boston leading 5-1. The Yankees had two men on with 1 out in the bottom of the 5th and DJ LeMahieu would drive a fastball from Sale deep to CF and just out of the reach of Pillar who made a leaping attempt at the wall for a huge 3-run HR to pull the Yankees within a run at 5-4. The Yankee Stadium crowd was now at a fever pitch and New York had runners on 2nd & 3rd base with 2 outs for Gary Sanchez but Sale would settle down and get a huge strikeout of Sanchez to end the 5th and send the game to the 6th inning with Boston leading 5-4. Alex Verdugo led off the top of the 6th with a double as he was now 3 for 3 with a single, double and triple on the night. Andrew Benintendi would deliver a RBI single with 1 out to score Verdugo and increase the Red Sox lead to 6-4. The Yankees would answer in the bottom of the 6th as Gardner led off with a swinging bunt single and Luke Voit would get a first pitch fastball and launch a 2-run HR to CF tying the game at 6-6. Sale would get through the remainder of the inning and we would head to the 7th inning with the score tied 6-6. The Red Sox would reclaim the lead in the top of the 7th when Mitch Moreland got a fastball from Jonathan Holder and drove it 433 feet to CF into Monument Park to give Boston a 7-6 lead. Boston had two men on with 2 outs and Kevin Pillar would hit hit a blooper into RF for a RBI single to make it 8-6. Sale returned to the mound to begin the bottom of the 7th and finished his night with a strong bottom of the 7th as he struck out Hicks and Torres before Stanton flew out to Pillar in CF to send the game to the 8th inning with Boston leading 8-6. Chad Green retired the Sox in order in the top of the 8th and Matt Barnes took over for Sale to begin the bottom of the 8th and picked up two Ks in a scoreless frame to end the 8th inning and send the game to the 9th inning with Boston 3 outs away from a trip to the World Series leading 8-6. The Red Sox came to bat in the top of the 9th looking to add some insurance with Tommy Kahnle on to pitch for New York. Kahnle would hit Chavis with a pitch with 1 out and Chavis would move into scoring position on a wild pitch bringing up Alex Verdugo who was 4 for 4 on the night with 2 outs. Verdugo would pop out to end the top of the 9th and we would go to the bottom of the 9th with Brandon Workman coming on to try and close it out for the Red Sox as they were 3 outs away from a trip to the World Series. The Yankees came up to bat in the bottom of the 9th trailing 8-6 and Workman would start the inning by striking out Andujar on a nasty curveball for the 1st out. DJ LeMahieu would fly out to Pillar in CF and the Yankees were down to their final out. Aaron Hicks came up with the Yankees down to their final out and Workman would strike him out with a filthy curveball and the Red Sox storm the field to kick off the celebration as the Red Sox are the American League Champions and are headed to the World Series!!!

                          * The Red Sox and Yankees were tied 6-6 in the top of the 7th when Mitch Moreland put the Red Sox ahead for good with his second HR of the ball game. Matt Barnes and Brandon Workman would slam the door in the 8th and 9th innings to finish off a 8-6 victory in Game 5

                          * The Red Sox win the ALCS in 5 game taking the series 4-1 over the Yankees

                          * Chris Sale battled through 7 innings allowing 6 runs on 9 hits with 1 walk and 7 ks to earn the win to improve to 2-0 in the postseason with a 3.52 ERA

                          * Gerrit Cole took the mound for New York on short rest and just didn't have it as he lasted just 3.2 innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits with 1 walk and 4 Ks finishing the postseason with a 2.55 ERA.

                          * Xander Bogaerts went 1 for 5 with a home run for Boston to finish the series with 4 HR & 11 RBI. Bogaerts is hitting .333 in the postseason with 5 HR & 13 RBI

                          * Alex Verdugo finished a HR shy of the cycle going 4 for 5 to raise his average to .360 in the postseason

                          * The Yankees staged a heck of a comeback but fell short despite getting home runs from DJ LeMahieu, Giancarlo Stanton and Luke Voit

                          * The Red Sox are off to the World Series where they will face the Chicago Cubs who beat the defending champion Washington Nationals 4-2 in the NLCS.

Chicago Cubs @ Boston Red Sox
Pitching Matchup - Kyle Hendricks vs Chris Sale

The Red Sox and Cubs will meet in the World Series as Boston and Chicago prepare for what should be a great series between two teams from major markets with lage passionate fan bases. The Red Sox beat their arch rival Yankees in five games to win the AL pennant while the Cubs beat the defending champion Nationals in six games to win the NL pennant. The Red Sox will have home field advantage as the World Series opens at Fenway Park with Chris Sale taking the mound for Boston against Kyle Hendricks for Chicago

The Cubs would open the scoring in the top of the 1st when Chris Sale retired the first two batters before hanging a slider to Javier Baez who crushed it 433 feet for a solo HR to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead. Sale was unfazed by the HR from Baez as that was the only hit for Chicago through 3 innings and Sale was up to 6 Ks while Kyle Hendricks had also allowed just one hit and was locating his pitches perfectly as the game would move to the 4th inning with Chicago leading 1-0. Sale struck out the side in the top of the 4th inning as he sat down Rizzo, Baez and Schwarber in order and was up to 9 Ks through 4 innings of work on the mound. The Red Sox were threatening to get on the board in the bottom of the 4th as Rafael Devers singled to lead off and Xander Bogaerts hit a ball in the gap in right-center for a double to put two men on with nobody out and JD Martinez coming to the plate. Martinez would hit a fly ball to Souza in deep RF for a RBI sac fly as Devers scored to tie the game 1-1. Hendricks did a great job to get out of the inning with no further damage as he struck out Moreland for the 2nd out and Chavis would hit a ground ball down the 3rd base line but Kris Bryant would make a nice play on his backhand before firing a strong throw across the diamond to just get Chavis and send the game to the 5th inning tied at 1-1. Sale continued to dominate as he would record his 10th & 11th Ks of the game in the top of the 5th and had now retired 13 straight Cubs batters since the HR by Baez in the 1st inning. Hendricks would record two quick outs to begin the bottom of the 5th before Jackie Bradley singled up the middle with 2 outs. Bradley was running on the first pitch to Benintendi but Hendricks would leave a sinker over the plate and Benintendi yanked it high and deep down the RF line and the ball would stay fair for a 2-run HR to give the Red Sox a 3-1 lead. Devers followed with a double but Hendricks would get Bogaerts to end the inning and send the game to the 6th inning with Boston now leading 3-1. Ian Happ singled to lead off the top of the 6th but Sale would come back to strikeout Bote for his 12th K before walking Kris Bryant to bring up Anthony Rizzo with two men on and 1 out. Rizzo would punch a soft liner into LF for a RBI single as Happ scored to make it a 3-2 game. Javier Baez would go down swinging on a changeup from Sale for his 13th K of the night for the 2nd out. Kyle Schwarber would hit a sinking liner to RF that looked like it was going to drop but Alex Verdugo was charging in and would make a nice catch on the run to end the top of the 6th with the Red Sox lead intact at 3-2. Hendricks retired the Red Sox in order in the bottom of the 6th and we would go to the 7th inning with Boston leading 3-2. Sale would retire the Cubs in order in the top of the 7th and got some help from his defense when Alex Verdugo made a terrific diving catch to rob Souza on a soft fly down the RF line. Christian Vazquez drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the 7th and Hendricks would exit as Brad Wieck came in from the pen with a string of lefties coming up for Boston. Jackie Bradley drew a walk with 1 out to put two men on for Benintendi but Wieck would get a big K for the 2nd out bringing up Rafael Devers who would fly out as Wieck escapes the jam to send the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox holding a 3-2 lead. Sale returned to the mound to begin the top of the 8th and would get Happ to ground out for the 1st out and finished off his outing by striking out Bote for his 14th strikeout of the ball game and Sale would leave to a standing ovation as Matt Barnes would be called on to face Kris Bryant with 2 outs in the top of the 8th. Barnes would need to throw just one pitch as Bryant swung at a first pitch fastball and flew out to Verdugo in deep RF to end the top of the 8th with Boston holding on to a 3-2 lead. Roman Wick came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Chicago looking to keep it a one run game and give his team a chance in the 9th. Wick did a great job as he retired Bogaerts, Martinez and Moreland in order to send the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 3-2. The Cubs would come to the plate in the top of the 9th with Rizzo, Baez and Schwarber due up against Brandon Workman who was coming on to try and close it out for Boston. Workman started off the top of the 9th by striking out Anthony Rizzo who chased a fastball up and in for the 1st out. Javier Baez would chase a curveball away and in the dirt for the 2nd out and the Cubs were down to their final out. Kyle Schwarber would step in to the box with 2 outs looking to keep the game alive for Chicago and he would line a ball down the LF line for a two out double. Willson Contreras would come up next with the tying tun in scoring position and 2 outs. Workman would run a cutter down and in to Contreras who hit the ball hard on the ground to Bogaerts at SS who fielded it cleanly and threw to Moreland for the final out as Workman hangs on for the save and the Red Sox win Game 1 of the World Series by a score of 3-2

                            * The Cubs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning on a 433 foot bomb by Javier Baez. The Red Sox would score 3 unanswered runs as Andrew Benintendi hit a 2-run HR in the 5th inning to give Boston a 3-1 lead. The Cubs would cut the deficit to 3-2 but Chris Sale would strikeout 14 Cubs batters and Brandon Workman would hold on to record the save getting Contreras to ground out to end the game with the tying run in scoring position as the Red Sox hang on for a 3-2 victory in a tightly played Game 1 of the World Series to take a 1-0 series lead

                            * Chris Sale was outstanding for Boston throwing 7.2 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with 1 walk and 14 strikeouts to earn the win and improve to 3-0 in the postseason with a 3.23 ERA

                            * Kyle Hendricks pitched well for Chicago but took the tough luck loss throwing 6+ innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 1 walk and 6 Ks as he falls to 1-2 in the postseason with a 3.97 ERA

                            * Andrew Benintendi went 1 for 4 but has the big hit for Boston when he launched a 2-run HR down the RF line in the 5th inning for his 1st HR of the postseason

                            * Javier Baez homered in the 1st inning for Chicago for his 5th HR of the postseason and would wind up going 1 for 4 with 3 Ks

                            * Brandon Workman recorded his 3rd save of the postseason for Boston as he hung on and got Willson Contreras to ground out to end the game with the tying run in scoring position

                            * The Red Sox and Cubs will play Game #2 of the World Series tomorrow night as Chicago sends Yu Darvish to the mound looking to even the series while Boston will counter with Eduardo Rodriguez who has been lights out in the postseason going 2-0 with a 0.60 ERA as the Red Sox will look to take a 2-0 series lead

Chicago Cubs @ Boston Red Sox
Pitching Matchup - Yu Darvish vs Eduardo Rodriguez

The Red Sox and Cubs prepare to play Game #2 of the World Series as Boston won game #1 by a 3-2 score and will be looking to take a commanding 2-0 series lead while the Cubs are trying to even the series at 1-1 before the series shifts to Wrigley Field in Chicago for Game 3 through 5. The Red Sox will send Eduardo Rodriguez to the mound in Game #2 against Yu Darvish for Chicago

Eduardo Rodriguez and Yu Darvish were both pitching well early and the game was scoreless after 4 innings with both teams managing just one hit through the first four innings. Rodriguez had 5 strikeouts through his first four innings of work for Boston and Darvish had racked up 7 Ks for Chicago as we moved to the 5th inning with the score tied 0-0. The Cubs would threaten in the top of the 5th when Steven Souza led off with a triple that hit off the wall in CF just over the glove of Bradley who made a leaping attempt at the wall. Rodriguez would get Hoerner to fly out to Verdugo in shallow RF for the 1st out and then recorded back to back Ks of Happ and Bote to escape the inning and strand Souza at third base as the Cubs fail to score and the game remains scoreless. Mitch Moreland led off the bottom of the 5th with a double for Boston but they would fail to drive him in and Darvish would escape a jam of his own to send the game to the 6th inning locked in a 0-0 tie. The Cubs would open the scoring in the top of the 6th when Kris Bryant doubled down the RF line to lead off the inning and Anthony Rizzo followed with a liner into CF for a RBI single to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead. Rodriguez would get through the top of the 6th with no further damage and Darvish continued his dominant outing by striking out the side in the bottom of the 6th as Darvish now had 11 strikeouts on the night and the game would move to the 7th inning with Chicago leading 1-0. Rodriguez retired the side in the top of the 7th and finished his night by striking out Happ for his 9th K of the ball game. Darvish picked up two more Ks in the bottom of the 7th bringing his total to 13 strikeouts as he fanned Moreland to end the inning and send the game to the 8th inning with the Cubs holding a 1-0 lead. Ryan Brasier took over on the mound for Boston and pitched a scoreless top of the 8th to keep it a 1-0 game. Darvish remained in the game and picked up his 14th strikeout as he sat the Red Sox down in order again and the game would go to the 9th inning with the Cubs leading 1-0. Brasier would strikeout Javier Baez to begin the top of the 9th and turned it over to Josh Taylor who came in from the Boston pen and retired Schwarber and Contreras to send the game to the bottom of the 9th with Chicago leading 1-0. The Red Sox would come to bat in the bottom of the 9th needing a run as they trailed 1-0 and Darvish would return to the mound having thrown 104 pitches on the night as he looks to go the distance and finish the complete game. Jackie Bradley led off for Boston with a ground out to Rizzo at first base for the 1st out. Andrew Benintendi would hit a line drive to RF that stayed up and Souza would make the catch for the 2nd out and the Red Sox were down to their final out with Rafael Devers coming to the plate looking to get on base and keep the game alive for Boston. Devers got a fastball over the plate on the first pitch of his at bat and crushed it high and deep down the RF line but the ball would sail foul to the right of the RF foul pole missing a HR by a few feet. Darvish would get Devers to pop up to Rizzo for the final out to give the Cubs a huge 1-0 victory in Game 2

                              * The Cubs win Game #2 by a 1-0 score to even up the World Series at 1-1 behind an absolute gem from Yu Darvish who throws a complete game shutout as he held the Red Sox to just 2 hits and struck out 14

                              * Eduardo Rodriguez pitched great for Boston allowing 1 run on 4 hits in 7.0 innings with 1 walk and 9 Ks as he takes the tough luck loss falling to 2-1 with a 0.92 ERA in the postseason

                              * Yu Darvish pitched the game of his life throwing a complete game two hit shutout while racking up 14 Ks to carry the Cubs to victory and improve his record in the postseason to 2-1 with a 3.07 ERA

                              * Anthony Rizzo went 2 for 4 and drove in the only run of the game with a RBI single in the top of the 6th

                              * The Red Sox got terrible news after the game as they were informed that Mitch Moreland was injured and will miss the remainder of the World Series with torn cartilage in his shoulder

                              * The World Series will shift to Wrigley Field in Chicago for Games 3, 4 and 5 with the series even at 1-1. The Red Sox will send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound in Game 3 against Jose Quintana for Chicago

TNK - Boston Red Sox Franchise
World Series - Game #3 (Series Tied 1-1)

Boston Red Sox @ Chicago Cubs
Pitching Matchup - Nathan Eovaldi vs Jose Quintana

The World Series shifts to Wrigley Field in Chicago for the next three games as the Red Sox and Cubs prepare to play Game #3 of the World Series after splitting the first two games in Boston which featured a pair of incredible pitching performances as Chris Sale struck out 14 Cubs in Game 1 and Yu Darvish stuck out 14 Red Sox in Game 2. The Red Sox will send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound against Jose Quintana for Chicago in a big Game #3 as the winner of tonights game will take a 2-1 series lead

The Cubs would open the scoring in the bottom of the 1st as Anthony Rizzo walked and Javier Baez doubled to put runners on 2nd & 3rd with 1 out and Kyle Schwarber would pick up the RBI on a sac fly to CF to give Chicago a 1-0 lead. The Red Sox answered in the bottom of the 2nd when Michael Chavis got a fastball from Quintana and hit a towering fly ball deep to LF that carried and just cleared the wall for a solo HR to tie the game 1-1. Eovaldi retired the Cubs in order in the bottom of the 2nd to send the game to the 3rd inning tied at 1-1. The Cubs stranded a pair of runners in the bottom of the 3rd as they had two men on with 1 out but Eovaldi would get a big strikeout as Baez went down looking at a 99 mph fastball and Schwarber grounded out to Peraza to end the threat and we would move to the 4th inning tied 1-1. Chavis made a bid for his second HR of the game but he just hooked it foul and Quintana would strike him out to end the top of the 4th and Eovaldi would sit the Cubs down in order in the bottom of the 4th to send the game to the 5th inning with the score tied 1-1. Quintana had allowed just one hit through his first 5 innings and Eovaldi pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 5th making it 8 straight Cubs that he has retired and the game would move to the 6th inning with the score tied 1-1. The Red Sox would catch a break when Andrew Benintendi chased a curveball in the dirt for a strikeout to lead off the top of the 6th but Contreras throw to first base was high and pulled Rizzo off the bag allowing Benintendi to reach base. Quintana would make sure the error did not hurt as he came right back getting Devers to ground into a 3-6-3 double play and Bogaerts would ground out to Baez to end the top of the 6th. Javier Baez singled with 1 out in the bottom of the 6th but Eovaldi would get a big strikeout of Schwarber and Contreras grounded out to Peraza to end the inning and send the game to the 7th inning tied 1-1. Michael Chavis recorded just the second Red Sox hit of the game in the top of the 7th when he laced a liner into the LF corner for a double with 1 out. Christian Vazquez just missed giving Boston the lead when he lined a ball down the LF line that landed just foul by an inch or two before grounding out for the 2nd out and bringing Pillar to the plate with 2 outs. Pillar would hit a rocket through the hole into LF for a two out single but the ball was hit too hard and right at Schwarber forcing Chavis to hold at 3rd base and bring up Jose Peraza for a huge at bat with runners on the corners and 2 outs with Eovaldi in the on deck circle. Peraza stepped into the box and Quintana would groove a 92 mph fastball right down the middle on the first pitch of the at bat and Peraza crushed it 411 feet to left-center for a huge 3-run HR to give Boston a 4-1 lead and silence the crowd at Wrigley Field. Brad Wieck would come in from the pen for Chicago as Quintana departs and Bobby Dalbec would pinch hit in the pitcher spot and fly out to RF to end the top of the 7th. Darwinzon Hernandez took over on the mound for Boston and retired the side in order in the bottom of the 7th to send the game to the 8th inning with Boston leading 4-1. Wieck remained in the game and pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 8th for Chicago. Matt Barnes came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th and would retire David Bote pinch hitting in the pitcher spot for the 1st out before striking out both Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo in a dominant inning out of the pen to send the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 4-1. Rowan Wick took over on the mound to pitch the top of the 9th for the Cubs. Michael Chavis would record his 3rd hit of the night when he ripped a ball up the middle for a single with 1 out and advanced to second base when Happ bobbled the ball in CF. The error by Happ would not prove costly as Wick would get Vazquez to fly out to CF and struck out Pillar on a breaking ball to end the top of the 9th with the score still 4-1. The Cubs would come to bat in the bottom of the 9th trailing 4-1 with Brandon Workman coming on to try and close it out for Boston. Jackie Bradley came in to the game for defensive purposes taking over in CF and Kevin Pillar would move from CF over to RF as JD Martinez would exit the game. Javier Baez led off the bottom of the 9th by grounding out to Bogaerts at SS for the 1st out. Kyle Schwarber grounded out to Peraza at second base and the Cubs were down to their final out. Willson Contreras came to the plate looking to keep the game alive for Chicago but he would hit a routine fly ball to Bradley in CF for the final out as Workman comes on and retires the side in the bottom of the 9th to finish off a thrilling 4-1 win for the Red Sox to give them a 2-1 lead in the series

                                * The Cubs scored a run in the bottom of the 1st to take a 1-0 lead on a sac fly from Schwarber but Boston would answer with a solo HR from Chavis in the 2nd inning to tie the score 1-1. Eovaldi and Quintana were locked in a fantastic pitchers duel as the score remained 1-1 through 6 innings. The Red Sox had runners on the corners with 2 outs in the top of the 7th and Jose Peraza would be the unlikely hero as he jumped a first pitch fastball from Quintana and hammered a 3-run HR to give Boston a 4-1 lead. The Red Sox bullpen was dominant as Darwinzon Hernandez, Matt Barnes and Brandon Workman slammed the door in the 7th, 8th and 9th innings without allowing a base runner and the Red Sox would go on to win 4-1 and move two wins away from a championship as they take a 2-1 series lead

                                * Nathan Eovaldi allowed a run in the 1st inning and was lights out the rest of the way throwing 6 strong innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits with 1 walk and 5 Ks to earn the win and improve to 1-0 with a 3.94 ERA in the postseason

                                * Jose Quintana was outstanding for Chicago before paying the price for a mistake pitch in the top of the 7th as he would wind up throwing 6.2 innings allowing 4 runs on 4 hits with 2 walks and 5 Ks as he takes the loss to fall to 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA in the postseason

                                * Jose Peraza was the unlikely hero for Boston as he was inserted into the lineup taking over the job at second base when Michael Chavis was forced to move to first base after Mitch Moreland was injured in Game 2 ending his season. Peraza was seeing his first action of the postseason and came up in a big spot with 2 outs in the 7th with the game tied 1-1 and Peraza who hit just 1 HR in the regular season got a first pitch fastball right down the middle and drove it 411 feet for a go ahead 3-run HR that gave the Red Sox a 4-1 lead. Peraza finished the night 1 for 2 with a walk, HR & 3 RBI while making several plays in the field.

                                * Michael Chavis excellent postseason continues as he finished a triple shy of the cycle going 3 for 4 with a single, double, HR & 1 RBI. Chavis is hitting .375 in the postseason with 5 doubles, 3 HR & 7 RBI

*The bullpen was outstanding for Boston throwing 3 shutout innings without allowing a hit or a walk as Darwinzon Hernandez and Matt Barnes were lights out in the 7th and 8th innings for Boston to bridge the game to the 9th where Brandon Workman retired the Cubs 1-2-3 to record his 4th save of the postseason

                                * The Red Sox lead the World Series 2-1 and are two wins away from becoming World Series Champions. The Red Sox and Cubs will play Game #4 tomorrow night with Martin Perez set to take the mound for Boston against former Red Sox Jon Lester who gets the start for the Cubs and will be looking to come up big against his former team and even the series
