    Re: TNK MLB 20 Sliders

TNK - Boston Red Sox Franchise
World Series - Game #4 (Boston leads series 2-1)

Boston Red Sox @ Chicago Cubs
Pitching Matchup - Martin Perez vs Jon Lester

The Red Sox and Cubs prepare to play Game #4 of what has been a thrilling World Series as all 3 games have been very close games and the pitching has been outstanding on both sides in all 3 games. The Red Sox will have Martin Perez on the mound and Chicago will turn to Jon Lester who has been a big game pitcher and the Cubs will need him to deliver a strong performance if they're going to even up the series at 2-2. Boston will be looking to take a commanding 3-1 series lead and position themselves one win away from a championship

The Red Sox got off to a quick start in the top of the 1st inning as Benintendi singled to lead off the game and Jon Lester would get Devers and Bogaerts to bring up JD Martinez with 2 outs. Martinez and Lester would battle to a full count and Lester threw a curveball with the full count that stayed up in the zone and Martinez hit an absolute rocket deep to LF that just made it into the netting above the wall for a 2-run HR to give Boston a 2-0 lead. The Cubs would get on the board in the bottom of the 2nd when Kyle Schwarber drove a fastball from Perez the opposite way for a solo HR to LF to lead off the inning. Perez would bounce back and retire the next 3 hitters and the game would move to the 3rd inning with Boston leading 2-1. Lester retired the side in order in the top of the 3rd and Perez would sit the Cubs down in order freezing Kris Bryant with a back door cutter to end the bottom of the 3rd and send the game to the 4th inning with Boston leading 2-1. Xander Bogaerts would get a fastball down and in from Lester with a full count leading off the top of the 4th and crushed a solo HR to LF to push the lead to 3-1 and Michael Chavis would add a solo HR of his own with 1 out and the Red Sox had a 4-1 lead. The Cubs answered right back as Anthony Rizzo took Perez deep to lead off the bottom of the 4th and cut the deficit in half 4-2. Perez would bounce back and retire the next 3 batters and we would go to the 5th inning with Boston leading 4-2. Lester and Perez would both throw 1-2-3 innings in the 5th and the game would move to the 6th inning with the Red Sox leading 4-2. Lester finished of his day with another quick inning in the top of the 6th as he was able to keep the Cubs in the ball game. The Cubs would continue to chip away at the Boston lead in the bottom of the 6th as Kris Bryant hit a towering fly ball that carried over the wall in the LF corner for a solo HR with 1 out in the bottom of the 6th to pull Chicago within a run at 4-3. The Cubs kept coming as Rizzo singled and Javier Baez followed with a ball in the gap in right-center that rolled to the wall for a RBI triple as the Cubs fight back and tie the game 4-4. Josh Taylor would replace Perez on the mound with 1 out and Baez at 3rd and did a fantastic job as he would get Schwarber to pop up for a huge 2nd out and struck out Contreras to strand Baez at 3rd base and send the game to the 7th inning tied at 4-4. Casey Sadler took over on the mound for Chicago to pitch the top of the 7th and Michael Chavis would lead off the inning with a rocket that short hopped the wall in CF and Chavis would leg out a lead off a triple. Sadler would get a big 1st out as Vazquez popped out and Jackie Bradley would be called on to hit for Pillar with 1 out. Bradley would fall behind in the count but fouled off a couple tough pitches with 2 strikes before lining a ball back up the middle past the drawn in infield for a big RBI single to give the Red Sox a 5-4 lead. Jose Peraza singled to RF and Bradley would race to 3rd base setting up runners at the corners for Bobby Dalbec who was pinch hitting for the pitchers spot. Dalbec would drive in a run with a RBI sac fly to RF to extend the Boston lead to 6-4. Kyle Ryan replaced Sadler on the mound and got Benintendi to fly out to end the top of the 7th with the Red Sox now leading 6-4. Heath Hembree would get the call to pitch the bottom of the 7th and would strikeout Souza to start the inning for the 1st out. Nico Hoerner singled up the middle with 1 out but would be thrown out trying to steal on a great throw by Vazquez and Hembree would strikeout Happ to end the 7th inning and send the game to the 8th inning with Boston leading 6-4. Rowan Wick worked out of trouble in the top of the 8th to keep it a 6-4 game. Alex Verdugo would enter the game as a defensive replacement for JD Martinez in RF and Matt Barnes would come on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Boston. Jason Heyward would hit in the pitchers spot leading off the bottom of the 8th and go down swinging on a curveball for the first out. Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo would both ground out to Bogaerts as Barnes comes in and retires the side in the bottom of the 8th to send the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 6-4. Dan Winkler took over on the mound for Chicago and retired the side in order to keep it a two run game and we would go to the bottom of the 9th with the Red Sox leading 6-4. Brandon Workman would make his way in to try and close it out for Boston with the Cubs coming to the plate in the bottom of the 9th trailing 6-4 and in danger of falling behind 3-1 in the series. Javier Baez started the bottom of the 9th with a ground ball to Chavis at first base who flipped to Workman for the first out. Kyle Schwarber hit a chopper up the middle but Bogaerts would get to it and throw him out and the Cubs were down to their final out. Willson Contreras would keep the game alive with a single into RF and Chicago would bring the tying run to the plate in Steven Souza with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th. Souza would single into RF and suddenly the Cubs had two men on base and Nico Hoerner coming to the plate. Hoerner would make it 3 straight singles with two outs with a liner into CF for a RBi single to score Contreras and make it a one run game 6-5. Workman was rattled and on the verge of blowing the game as the Wrigley Field crowd was going crazy with the Cubs trying to finish off an epic comeback and even the series as Victor Caratini came on to pinch hit with two men on base and two outs. Caratini battled and fouled off a couple tough pitches with two strikes but Workman would settle down and win the battle as Caratini hit the ball on the ground to Chavis at first base and he would field it and sprint to the bag to record the final out as the Red Sox hang on for a nail biting 6-5 victory and take a commanding 3-1 series lead

    * The Red Sox and Cubs each hit 3 home runs as they slugged their way to a 4-4 tie through 6 innings before Boston scored a pair of runs in the top of the 7th as Jackie Bradley delivered a pinch hit RBI single and Bobby Dalbec pinch hit and delivered a sac fly to give Boston a 6-4 lead. The bullpen would do their job and hand it over to Brandon Workman who recorded two quick outs in the bottom of the 9th before the Cubs offense came alive with 3 straight singles as Nico Hoerner made it 6-5. Victor Caratini was called on to pinch hit with the potential tying and go ahead runs on base and two outs but Workman would hang on for the heart attack save as Caratini grounded out to Chavis for the final out and the Red Sox hang on to win 6-5 and are one win away from a World Series title

    * Martin Perez pitched 5.1 innings allowing 4 runs on 5 hits with 4 Ks for Boston

    * Jon Lester battled through 6 innings allowing 4 runs on 4 hits with 6 Ks for Chicago

    * The Red Sox got home runs from Xander Bogaerts (6th of postseason), Michael Chavis (4th of postseason) and JD Martinez (1st of postseason)

    * Jackie Bradley delivered a big pinch hit RBI single in the 7th to snap a 4-4 tie and Bobby Dalbec followed with a pinch hit RBI sac fly giving the Red Sox a 6-4 lead

    * The Cubs got home runs from Kris Bryant (3rd), Anthony Rizzo (6th) and Kyle Schwarber (5th)

    * The Red Sox will have a chance to end the series tomorrow night and will send Chris Sale to the mound in Game 5 against Kyle Hendricks for Chicago

      Re: TNK MLB 20 Sliders

TNK - Boston Red Sox Franchise
World Series - Game #5 (Boston leads series 3-1)

Boston Red Sox @ Chicago Cubs
Pitching Matchup - Chris Sale vs Kyle Hendricks

The Red Sox and Cubs prepare to play Game #5 of the World Series with the Red Sox leading the series 3-1 and on the brink of a championship while the Cubs need a win to send the series back to Boston for a Game 6. The pitching matchup will be a rematch of Game 1 as the Red Sox will have Chris Sale on the mound with a chance to clinch the series and Chicago will turn to Kyle Hendricks with their backs against the wall as they look to stay alive

The Red Sox would get on the board first with 1 out in the top of the 2nd inning when Hendricks left a changeup up in the zone and Michael Chavis hit it high and deep towards left-center and over the wall for his 3rd HR of the series to give Boston the early 1-0 lead. Chris Sale was sharp early as he retired the 6 Cubs batters and had 4 strikeouts through the first two innings and we would go to the 3rd inning with Boston leading 1-0. Nico Hoerner singled to lead off the bottom of the 3rd inning and stole second base to move into scoring position with nobody out. Sale came right back by striking out Ian Happ for the first out bringing up Kyle Hendricks. Sale had two strikes on Hendricks and tried to put him away with a slider but Hendricks was able to slap a soft liner just over the head of Chavis at first base and down the RF line for a huge RBI double from the Cubs pitcher to tie the score 1-1. Bryant singled through the right side setting up runners at the corners with 1 out for Rizzo who would go down chasing a slider away for a big strikeout for the 2nd out. Javier Baez would fly out to Martinez in RF as Sale does a great job to escape the jam and limit the damage sending the game to the 4th inning with the score tied 1-1. The Red Sox would string together some two out magic in the top of the 4th after Hendricks recorded the first two outs with ease in the inning as Martinez singled and Chavis drew a walk to bring up Christian Vazquez with two on and two outs. The runners were in motion with a full count and Vazquez would hit a soft liner into RF for a RBI single to give Boston a 2-1 lead. Jose Peraza blooped a ball into no mans land behind first base for a RBI single to make it 3-1 and Jackie Bradley would line a RBI single into RF to make it 4-1 before Hendricks would get Sale to ground out as the Red Sox string together 3 straight RBI singles with 2 outs to open up a 4-1 lead. Sale picked up two more Ks bringing his total to 8 strikeouts through 4 innings and the game would go to the 5th inning with Boston leading 4-1. Sale would strikeout Happ and Bote to start the bottom of the 5th to bring his total to 10 Ks before Kris Bryant launched a solo HR to LF to get the crowd back in the game and cut the Red Sox lead to 4-2. Sale would record his 11th K as Rizzo went down chasing a slider to end the 5th and send the game to the 6th inning with Boston leading 4-2. Casey Sadler took over for Hendricks on the mound and would get a big strikeout of Bradley to end the inning and strand a couple of base runners keeping it a 4-2 game. Sale would sit down Baez, Schwarber and Contreras 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 6th to finish his outing and send the game to the 7th inning with the Red Sox leading 4-2. Bobby Dalbec pinch hit for Sale leading off the top of the 7th but went down swinging against Brad Wieck who was on to pitch for Chicago. The Red Sox went to work again with 2 outs as Rafael Devers singled and Xander Bogaerts would drive a ball high and deep to LF that would hit off the ivy covered wall just over the glove of Schwarber who made a leaping attempt and crashed into the wall as Devers raced all the way around and Bogaerts would wind up with a RBI triple to extend the Red Sox lead to 5-2. Jeremy Jeffress replaced Wieck on the mound and retired JD Martinez to strand Bogaerts at 3rd ending the top of the 7th. Darwinzon Hernandez came on to pitch the bottom of the 7th for Boston and would work around a lead off single by Souza with a big help from Jackie Bradley who made a beautiful diving catch to rob Nico Hoerner of a base hit for the first out. Hernandez would get Victor Caratini to fly out to Benintendi to end the bottom of the 7th and the Red Sox were 6 outs away from a championship as we would go to the 8th inning with Boston leading 5-2. Kyle Ryan pitched a scoreless top of the 8th for Chicago to keep it a 5-2 game. Hernandez returned to the mound and started the bottom of the 8th by striking out Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo both on 98 mph fastballs. Javier Baez ripped a single into LF with 2 outs and Hernandez would hang a slider to Kyle Schwarber who crushed a no doubter to RF for a huge 2-run HR to give the Cubs a spark and bring the crowd to life as they cut the Red Sox lead to 5-4. Ryan Brasier came in from the Red Sox pen and Willson Contreras would hit a flare into shallow RF the landed on the chalk for a fair ball and Contreras would end up in scoring position with a 2 out double. Brasier would get Souza to pop up to Bogaerts and escape the inning with the lead intact as the Red Sox are 3 outs away from a title as the game moved to the 9th inning with Boston leading 5-4. Dan Winkler came on to pitch the top of the 9th for Chicago and retired the first two batters before Devers singled up the middle for his 3rd hit of the game. Xander Bogaerts stepped in with 2 outs and flew out to Schwarber to end the top of the 9th and send the game to the bottom of the with the Red Sox 3 outs away from winning the world series. The Cubs would come to bat in the bottom of the 9th trailing 5-4 with the bottom of the order due up and Brandon Workman entering the game to try and close out the series for Boston. Workman has pitched in each of the last two games and Matt Barnes was ready to go in the Boston pen if Workman should look tired or get himself into trouble. Nico Hoerner popped out to Chavis at first base for the 1st out. Ian Happ would hit a flare to the left side and Xander Bogaerts would make a running catch for the 2nd out and the Cubs were down to their final out. Jason Heyward would pinch hit in the pitchers spot with the Red Sox one out away from a championship. Heyward and Workman would battle to a full count with the crowd on their feet and the intensity at a fever pitch with the Cubs down to their final strike. Workman would take a deep breath as Vazquez put down the sign calling for a cutter inside and Workman would execute as he ran the cutter in on the hands and Heyward would swing and miss for the final out as the Red Sox stormed the field to celebrate as they win Game 5 by a score of 5-4 and the Boston Red Sox are your 2020 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!

      * The Red Sox win Game 5 by a score of 5-4 to win the World Series beating the Cubs 4-1 in what was a very close series as every game was close and 4 of the 5 games were decided by one run

      * Chris Sale finished off his season as the winning pitcher in the series deciding game as he pitched 6 strong innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits with 11 strikeouts. Sale was the AL Cy Young winner and carried that into the postseason going 4-0 with a 3.19 ERA and pitching his best in the World Series where he went 2-0 with 25 strikeouts in 13.2 innings against the Cubs

      * Kyle Hendricks allowed 4 runs in 5.0 innings on 6 hits with 2 walks and 4 Ks to take the loss for Chicago and finish the postseason 1-3 with a 4.55 ERA

      * Michael Chavis went 2 for 3 with a double, HR & 1 RBI to finish what was a tremendous postseason as he hit .404 with 6 doubles, 5 HR & 9 RBI

      * Xander Bogaerts hit a RBI triple in the 7th inning that would drove in the eventual game winning run and Bogaerts finished the postseason with 15 RBI

      * The Red Sox got timely hitting from their role players throughout the postseason and Game 5 was no different as the bottom of the order came through with Vazquez, Peraza and Bradley delivering 3 striaght RBI singles with 2 outs in the top of the 4th

      * The Cubs got home runs in Game 5 from Kris Bryant (4th HR of postseason) and Kyle Schwarber (6th HR of postseason)

      * The Red Sox will celebrate the championship and head into the off-season with some key decisions to make. I'll begin the postseason tomorrow and post an update on how things unfold

TNK - Boston Red Sox Franchise

        2020 Off-Season
The Red Sox head into the 2020 off-season as World Series Champions and will have some tough decisions to make as they try to shape their team for 2021 beyond as they attempt to repeat as World Series Champions.

        Coaching Staff

        Red Sox Free Agent Signings
SP - The Red Sox sign Charlie Morton for 1 year / $6.6m contract
        * The Red Sox sign veteran right hander Charlie Morton to a 1 year deal as he will join the rotation serve as the Red Sox #4 starter

SS - The Red Sox sign C Jason Castro to a 2 year / $7.0m contract
        * The Red Sox sign veteran catcher Jason Castro to a two year deal giving them a capable backup to Christian Vazquez that provides a left handed bat to give them a more balanced roster. Castro will replace Kevin Plawecki who served as the backup catcher in 2020

SS - The Red Sox sign SS Addison Russell to a 1 year / $850k contract
        * The Red Sox sign the Addison Russell to a 1 year deal. Russell spent 2020 in Korea after the former prize prospect and MLB All-Star derailed his career by beating his ex-wife and was released by the Cubs after being suspended by MLB. The Red Sox are giving Russell a chance to resurrect his career and Russell will likely begin at AAA but will be given a chance to earn a roster spot as a backup SS/2B and provide insurance in case of injury to Bogaerts or Chavis

SS - The Red Sox sign RF Lewis Brinson to a 1 year / $540k contract
        * The Red Sox sign Lewis Brinson to a 1 year deal to play at AAA Pawtucket and add some OF depth with MLB experience. Brinson was once a highly rated prospect for the Marlins that could not find success at the major league level and the Red Sox will take a flyer on Brinson to see if he can put it together and work his way back to the major leagues

        Red Sox Off-Season Trades
(All trades I make are done through offers I receive via the find trade feature)
Red Sox trade 2B Dustin Pedroia to Padres for RP Drew Pomeranz & LF Eric Cortes
        * The Red Sox send Pedroia to San Diego where he will have a chance to take one last chance at resurrecting his career after battling injuries and the emergence of Michael Chavis guaranteed that Pedroia would have no chance at the second base job in Boston. The Red Sox had to take back a little salary and Drew Pomeranz will join the Red Sox for his second stint with the team. The Red Sox also acquired LF Eric Cortes who is an 18 year old "A" potential prospect

Red Sox trade SP Zack Godley & 2B Chad De La Guerra to Padres for SP Cal Quantrill
        * The Red Sox make a second trade with the Padres that sends Zack Godley & Chad De La Guerra to San Diego for Cal Quantrill in a move that rounds out the pitching staff for Boston as they add a young arm that slots into the rotation as the #5 starter in Quantrill

Red Sox trade CF Gilberto Jimenez to Dodgers for SP Tony Gonsolin
        * The Red Sox send "B" potential CF prospect Gilberto Jimenez to Los Angeles for Tony Gonsolin who will provide important depth to the pitching staff as Gonsolin will give them an arm capable of pitching multiple innings out of the bullpen with the ability to join the rotation if one of the starters gets injured or struggles

        Red Sox Notable Waiver Losses
RP - Colten Brewer was claimed off waivers by the Kansas City Royals
SS - Jonathan Arauz was claimed off waivers by the Tampa Bay Rays
SP - Brian Johnson was claimed off waivers by the Atlanta Braves
