    Legend directional hitting?

I really didn’t want to start a whole thread about this but, I don’t see anybody really talking about it.

Has anybody tried legend difficulty using directional? I typically strayed away from legend as a directional guy because in years past it was almost impossible to use directional on legend, and I like ratings to matter. This year though I’m finding HOF a bit too easy even with sliders put down quite a bit. So any help/advice or experiences using legend with directional this year would be appreciated

If you haven't already, I would suggest raising pitch speed maybe?

I thought about doing this. I’m on 7/6 right now and I’m about to try 8/7. I also just realized how awful the tigers pitching is. I faced a few bullpen guys rated in the 50’s. That may explain my 16HRs in a 3 game series

I tried a ton of different adjustments with little luck , so just decided to bite the bullet and move up to legend . But 1 adjustment that I was looking to try after reading other threads and discussing the high number of homers / hits was CPU strike frequency , I've tested over 100 games now and just want to start my Franchise so I'm just not in the mood to try it now lol But if you are willing then lower it just by 1 from 5 to 4 and maybe with a combination of CPU pitch consistency at 6 this might do the trick . Also can I ask why is legend and directional hitting a bad thing ? Do ratings not matter anymore?

Funny thing is I’ve been rolling with cpu consistency 6 and strike frequency 4 almost since launch, on HOF mostly though. It has worked well. You get a bit more walks obviously but the cpu is much more careful with pitch selection, which I like.

As far as directional hitting and legend the past few years I feel like legend was mainly geared towards zone hitting. It was just TOO hard using directional the past few years, I felt HOF was always pretty true to ratings. This year though I’m just not having much fun on HOF. I’ve had multiple games where I’ve hit 8 or 9 homeruns. Not too fun to me. I wouldn’t even consider myself a great player or anything either. I just casually play when I’m not at work.

Ohh wow lol yeah since you've been already playing with those adjustments than I think legend is a the only way to go . My numbers took a drastic dive in the last 25 games since I went to legend with power 4 , solid hits 4 and fastball 7 with off speed 6. Stats actually look very realistic for nearly each of my guys . My strikeouts per game have gone up a bit but I'm willing to sacrifice that for much better gameplay overall .

It’s refreshing to hear you’ve used legend and enjoyed it. I’ll definitely give it a go. I’ll probably just decrease solid hits by 1 first though and see how it goes.

Thanks for being the lab rat and testing that out! Lol. I hope it works for me like it has you. You are using directional though, right?

Yeah I would just start of with power and solid hits at default first and see how that goes for you . And yes I'm a user of Armors settings , so buttons directional and clean screen approach . Good luck and keep the updates coming , curious to hear feedback and and how ur numbers start to look .

I really like the 7/6 pitch speed setting on HOF. What would replicate that best on legend you think? 6/5?

Yeah that actually sounds about right and I think it would be a good starting point for you. If u find urself constantly being late on fastballs even when facing mediocre pitchers and can't get any hits than u can go down in pitch speed . But yeah give 7/6 a go and see how it feels and what results u get

                        Re: Legend directional hitting?

So I have a theory that the only thing that's changed between each skill level is the contact slider and pitch speeds. I cannot confirm that yet due to not having a large enough sample, but my testing so far is well within the margin for error.

The PCI test shows that legend with contact at 10 is near equal to hall of fame with contact at 5 (legend at 10 still has a very slightly smaller PCI). Again, sample size was too small to confirm, but timing window, check swing ability, and bat exit velocity floors were all well within margin for error.

Pre-1.04 testing confirmed that PCI size stayed the same between directional and zone hitting, only tested difference was the timing window.

This gives you a ton of wiggle room between HoF and legendary. Just raise the contact slider if legendary is too difficult. Any setting below 10 will still be harder than HoF.

This is all assuming my theory is correct. I don't like stating things as facts with this small of a sample size which is why I haven't posted this in my slider thread yet.

I played one game of default legend. Once again only one game. But it was really fun

U strike out a bit more in that game or no ? My strikeouts are looking a tad high the more I play on legend . In my last 6 I have double digit numbers in strikeouts . Everything else looks good , im still walking , hit totals per game are finally looking good , homers are down and no more 6 runs a game on average for me . But the strikeouts have me worried

Using Legend for the first time ever in the Show and while I can still get hits I do strike out a lot more. It's very hard for me to pick up the offspeed pitches especially curveballs which have a bit more break to them. The pitch speeds overall seem a bit faster but i feel challenged and in a very realistic way.
