TNK - Boston Red Sox Franchise
      Game #17 of the season

Chicago White Sox (7-10) @ Boston Red Sox (9-7)
Pitching Matchup - Carlos Rodon vs Eduardo Rodriguez

Carlos Rodon was struggling with command early on and the Red Sox were threatening in the bottom of the 3rd inning as Rodon issued his 3rd and 4th walks of the ball game and Verdugo singled to load the bases for JD Martinez with nobody out. Martinez would not get a RBI as he bounced into a 5-4-3 double play but Arroyo would score to give Boston a 1-0 lead and Rodon would minimize the damage and get out of the inning as Bogaerts flew out and the Red Sox lead 1-0 after 3 innings. Chicago had runners at the corners with 1 out in the top of the 4th. Rodriguez would get Grandal to pop out for the 2nd out but Yoan Moncada would drill a ball int he gap for a RBI double to tie the game 1-1. Rodriguez would get a huge strikeout of Vaughn to end the inning and strand two runners in scoring position. The score remained tied 1-1 until the bottom of the 5th when Rodon plunked Hernandez to put a man on for Boston and Alex Verdugo would turn on a fastball and drive it for a 2-run HR down the RF line to give Boston a 3-1 lead. Rodriguez would get through the top of the 6th inning and the Red Sox would get singles from Vazquez and Gonzalez to put two men on with 1 out in the bottom of the 6th and that would be all for Rodon as Evan Marshall came in from the pen to take over on the mound. Bobby Dalbec was up next and made it 3 straight hits as he punched a RBI single through the right side to make it 4-1. Christian Arroyo made it 4 straight hits with a high drive off the green monster for a two run double blowing the game open at 6-1. Rodriguez retired the side in order in the top of the 7th and Marshall pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 7th to send the game to the 8th inning with Boston up 6-1. Rodriguez recorded two quick outs making it 11 straight batters retired before Abreu singled into CF with 2 outs and that would be all as Rodriguez exits and Hirokazu Sawamura came on to face Luis Robert. Sawamura would get Robert with a splitter away and Robert tried to check his swing but could not hold up and we would go to the bottom of the 8th with the Red Sox up 6-1. The White Sox put the first two men on in the top of the 9th against Sawamura as Mercedes doubled and Grandal walked. Sawamura would retire Moncada on a fly out before Andrew Vaughn made it 6-2 with a RBI single and Darwinzon Hernandez would come on to replace Sawamura with Matt Barnes getting ready in the pen. Hernandez struck out Mendick and White Sox were down to their final out. Nick Madrigal would pop out to Bogaerts for the final out as the Red Sox win 6-2

      * The Red Sox win the final game of this 4 game series with Chicago by a score of 6-2 and take 3 out of 4 from the White Sox to improve to 10-7 on the season while Chicago falls to 7-11

      * Eduardo Rodriguez pitched 7.2 strong innings allowing 1 run on 6 hits with 1 walk and 6 ks to earn the win and improve to 3-0 with a 1.47 ERA on the season

      * Carlos Rodon struggled with his command allowing 5 runs in 5.1 innings of work on just 4 hits but walked 5 batters and struck out 5 as he takes the loss to fall to 0-3 with a 5.48 ERA

      * Alex Verdugo went 2 for 4 with a HR & 2 RBI and is hitting .281 with 3 HR & 7 RBI on the season

      * The Red Sox have won 3 out of 4 games on this 10 game homestand and will next host the Toronto Blue Jays who are currently 8-9- on the season for a quick two game set at Fenway Park. The Red Sox will have Garrett Richards on the mound in the opener against Steven Matz for the Blue Jays

      HIGHLIGHTS

I tried and tried and tried to like these. I just could not accept how many home runs and big hits there was. I know how much work goes into these. Thanks for posting anyways.

Going to give these a try as I’m looking for a change after being a directional/pulse player for such a long time.

Directional hitting feels broken this year and I realized I need to be able to have some say in the outcome other than just pressing a button and praying for a positive outcome.

All I’m looking for is realism, so I am excited to see how things play out over the course of 10-20 games using these sliders.

Going to start on All-Star+ as well and will up the difficulty if I find things too easy on either side of the dish.

Why don't you lower power and/or timing?

TNK - Boston Red Sox Franchise
              Game #18 of the season

Toronto Blue Jays (8-9) @ Boston Red Sox (10-7)
Pitching Matchup - Steven Matz vs Garrett Richards

The Red Sox got off to a quick start as Kike Hernandez led off the bottom of the 1st inning by turning on a Steven Matz fastball and driving it over the green monster for a solo HR to give Boston a 1-0 lead. Hunter Renfroe took Matz deep in the bottom of the 2nd when he stayed on a pitch away and drove it opposite field into the Red Sox bullpen in right-center to make it 2-0. The Red Sox continued to tee off on Matz as he issued walks to Arroyo and Martinez in the bottom of the 3rd to bring up Xander Bogaerts with two men on base and two outs and Bogaerts got a changeup down and in and lined a rocket into the monster seats for a 3-run HR to blow the game open and extend the Red Sox lead to 5-0. The Blue Jays bats came alive in the top of the 4th inning as they started the inning with 4 consecutive hits and would cut into the Red Sox lead with as Teoscar Hernandez RBI single made it 5-1 and Cavan Biggio RBI double made it 5-2 and Toronto still had two men in scoring position with nobody out. Richards would get Gurriel to pop out for a big out before walking Tellez to load the bases for Danny Jansen with 1 out. Jansen would fly out to Renfroe in RF but Springer would score from 3rd base on the sac fly making it 5-3. Richards would get two strikes on Marcus Semien and try to put him away with a slider but he left it over the plate and Semien hammered it over the green monster for a 3-run HR as the Blue Jays explode for 6 runs in the top of the 4th and now lead 6-5. The Red Sox would answer as Hunter Renfroe led off the bottom of the 4th with his 2nd HR of the game as he crushed a 450 foot solo HR to tie the game 6-6. Toronto took the lead back in the top of the 5th when Cavan Biggio lined a RBI double into the LF corner scoring Hernandez to take a 7-6 lead. Boston answered in the bottom of the 5th when Xander Bogaerts lined a ball in the gap for a RBI double to tie the game up 7-7 and Jeremy Beasley would replace Matz on the mound. Danny Jansen took Richards deep for a solo HR with 1 out in the top of the 6th to give Toronto a 8-7 lead and that would be all for Richards as Matt Andriese came on in relief and retired the next two hitters. Beasley remained in the game for Toronto and retired the side in the bottom of the 6th to send the game to the 7th inning with the Blue Jays leading 8-7. Andriese retired the side in order in the top of the 7th and Kike Hernandez launched his 2nd HR of the night leading off the bottom of the 7th and were tied 8-8 after 7 innings. Andriese recorded the first two outs in the top of the 8th before Darwinzon Hernandez came on to face Rowdy Tellez who ripped a ball in the gap for a double to put a man in scoring position with 2 outs. Hernandez would walk Jansen on 4 pitches and Marcus Semien would come to the plate for a huge at bat. Semien would ground a ball up the middle for a RBI single to give Toronto a 9-8 lead. Adam Ottavino replaced Hernandez who failed to record an out and Ottavino would get Bichette to fly out to RF to send the game to the bottom of the 8th with the Blue Jays leading 9-8. Tim Mayza pitched a scoreless bottom of the 8th for Toronto to send the game to the 9th inning with the Blue Jays leading 9-8. Ottavino struck out Biggio to end the top of the 9th and strand a runner at 3rd base and we would go to the bottom of the 9th with Rafael Dolis coming on to try and close it out for Toronto. Kevin Plawecki led off the bottom of the 9th with a line drive into CF for a single to put the tying run on with nobody out. Dolis came back with a big K of Arroyo for the 1st out. Kike Hernandez would ground into a fielders choice as he beat out a double play ball to keep the game alive and the Sox were down to their final out. Michael Chavis stepped in with JD Martinez lurking on deck and Chavis would ground out to Bichette at SS for the final out as the Jays hold on to win 9-8

              * The Blue Jays take the opener of this brief two game series 9-8 as the Red Sox jumped out to an early 5-0 lead before Toronto exploded for 6 runs in the 4th inning and the teams would keep trading runs until the Blue Jays took the lead in the 8th inning and the bullpen slammed the door in the late innings

              * Toronto improves to 9-9 and the Red Sox fall to 10-8 on the season

              * Garrett Richards early season struggles continue as his ERA balloons to 7.33 after 4 starts

              * Marcus Semien led the way for Toronto going 2 for 5 with a HR & 4 RBI and Semien is now hitting .323 with 6 HR & 18 RBI on the season

              * Kike Hernandez and Hunter Renfore each homereed twice for Boston and Xander Bogaerts homered and drove in 4 RBI

              * The teams will wrap up this two game series tomorrow with Nick Pivetta scheduled to pitch for Boston against Robbie Ray for Toronto

                Re: TNK MLB 21 Sliders

I agree that my power numbers are a little higher than I would like them to be right now. It's funny because I did a ton of testing before starting my Red Sox franchise and even played about 20 games of a test Mets franchise and the power numbers were perfect. This may just be a very hot stretch for me, but nonetheless....I have decided to make an adjustment for the next handful of games to see how things feel

                Human Contact - 6
                Human Power - 4 (reduced from 5 to 4)
                Human Timing - 5 (reduced form 6 to 5)

Everything is playing well, I've just found my home run stroke a bit too much....hoping this slight adjustments reigns it in just a little bit

TNK - Boston Red Sox Franchise
                  Game #19 of the season

Toronto Blue Jays (9-9) @ Boston Red Sox (10-8)
Pitching Matchup - Robbie Ray vs Nick Pivetta

The Red Sox threatened in the bottom of the 1st as they had runners on 2nd & 3rd after a double from Xander Bogaerts but Robbie Ray would get Rafael Devers to fly out to Gurriel in LF to end the inning and wiggle out of an early jam. Nick Pivetta was pitching well early for Boston and would get Danny Jansen to fly out and Marcus Semien to ground out to Devers to end the top of the 3rd stranding Tellez in scoring position after he doubled with 1 out and the game remained scoreless. Robbie Ray struck out JD Martinez to end the bottom of the 3rd with his 6th K of the game and we would go to the 4th inning tied 0-0. The Blue Jays got on the board in the top of the 4th when Pivetta hung a curveball to Teoscar Hernandez who hit a solo HR into the monster seats to put Toronto up 1-0. Ray got into trouble in the bottom of the 4th as Boston had two men on with 1 out. Ray would register his 8th K as he fanned Renfroe for the 2nd out but Bobby Dalbec would line a RBI single into RF to tie the game 1-1. Ray came right back to freeze Chavis with a fastball on the inner edge of the plate for his 9th K and we would go to the 5th inning with the score tied 1-1. Pivetta and Ray were going toe to toe on the mound as Pivetta retired the side in order in the top of the 5th and Ray fanned JD Martinez for his 10th K to end the bottom of the 5th and send the game to the 6th inning tied 1-1. Bo Bichette singled to RF with 2 outs in the top of the 6th and advanced to second base as Hunter Renfroe was charged with an error as he made a poor throw in from RF that bounced away from Bogaerts. Pivetta made some nice pitches to Vlad Guerrero Jr and got him to ground out to Gonzalez to end the threat stranding Bichette in scoring position and keeping the game tied 1-1. Ray pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 6th and the game would go to the 7th inning tied 1-1. George Springer singled with 1 out in the top of the 7th but Pivetta would get a big strikeout of Cavan Biggio on a nasty slider and Lourdes Gurriel would fly out to Renfroe as Pivetta was through 7 innings on the mound. AJ Cole took over for Ray on the mound and retired the Red Sox in order in the bottom of the 7th and we would head to the 8th inning tied at 1-1. Pivetta returned to the mound for the top of the 8th and got Tellez to pop out for the 1st out. Reese McGuire would be called on to pinch hit for Danny Jansen and grounded out and Pivetta would get Semien to ground out for the 3rd out as Pivetta has thrown 8 solid innings and we would go to the bottom of the 8th tied 1-1. Ryan Borucki came on to pitch for the Blue Jays and recorded two quick outs before JD Martinez worked a 2 out walk. Xander Bogaerts was up next and he would line out to Bichette at SS and the game would go to the 9th inning with the score still tied 1-1. Garrett Whitlock came on to pitch the top of the 9th and Bo Bichette would single to RF then steal second base and Toronto had a man in scoring position with nobody out and Vlad Guerrero coming up. Whitlock would get a huge K of Guerrero on a 96 mph fastball up in the zone. Teoscar Hernandez flew out to Verdugo for the 2nd out and George Springer would work to a full count before Whitlock won the battle as he went to the slider and locked Springer up for a big strikeout to end the inning and strand Bichette at second base as we would go to the bottom of the 9th tied 1-1. The Red Sox would come to bat with a chance to walk off against Trent Thornton who was on to pitch for Toronto. Rafael Devers singled to lead off the inning but Vazquez would fly out and Thornton would strike out Renfroe and Dalbec to send the game to extra innings. Whitlock remained in the game for the top of the 10th and struck out Reese McGuire to end the frame without allowing the extra innings runner on second base to score and we remained locked in a 1-1 tie. Michael Chavis led off the bottom of the 10th with a slow roller to the left side which allowed Dalbec to advance to 3rd base and the Red Sox had the winning run 90 feet away with Alex Verdugo coming up. Franchy Cordero would pinch run for Dalbec and Verdugo would get a pitch he could square up and hit a routine fly ball to CF where Springer would make the catch and fire a strong throw to the plate but Cordero would slide in safely just ahead of the tag and the Red Sox walk off with a 2-1 victory

                  * The Red Sox and Blue Jays went to extra innings tied 1-1 after a well pitched ball game and the Red Sox would win it 2-1 in the bottom of the 10th on a sac fly by Alex Verdugo

                    * The Red Sox improve to 11-8 on the season while the Blue Jays drop to 9-10

                    * Garrett Whitlock earned the win out of the pen for Boston throwing 2 shutout innings with 1 hit, 1 walk and 4 Ks lowering his ERA to 1.29 on the season

                    * The Red Sox are 4-2 through the first 6 games of this homestand which will wrap up with a 4 game series at Fenway Park against the Seattle Mariners who are currently in last place int he AL West at 5-13 on the season. Felt just fine....I didn't hit any home runs, but can't jump to any conclusions based off one game that was low scoring and well pitched

Going to stick with the adjustments for a minimum of 5 to 10 games.....need to keep playing with them as is and then analyze the results

TNK - Boston Red Sox Franchise
                        Game #20 of the season

Seattle Mariners (5-13) @ Boston Red Sox (11-8)
Pitching Matchup - Justus Sheffield vs Martin Perez

The Mariners stranded a man at 3rd base in the top of the 1st inning after Sam Haggerty singled to lead off and stole second base but Martin Perez would get out of the inning by striking out Kyle Lewis and getting Kyle Seager to ground out to Bogaerts. Justus Sheffield was injured on his 3rd pitch of the night as he was forced to leave the game and Paul Sewald came in with nobody out in the bottom of the 1st. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 3rd inning when Christian Arroyo singled with 1 out and Kike Hernandez turned on a slider from Sewald and hooked a high drive down the LF line for a 2-run HR to give Boston a 2-0 lead. The Red Sox extended their lead in the bottom of the 4th when Sewald hung a slider to Hunter Renfroe who crushed it 403 feet over the green monster to make it 3-0. The Mariners were threatening in the top of the 5th when they had runners at the corners with 1 out for Jake Fraley who hit a RBI sac fly to LF scoring Evan White to cut the Sox lead to 3-1. Perez would minimize the damage as he got Haggerty to go down swinging on a curveball to end the inning. Anthony Misiewicz took over on the mound for Seattle and pitched a scoreless bottom of the 5th to send the game to the 6th inning with Boston leading 3-1. Perez continued to pitch well as he retired the side in order in the top of the 6th and Misiewicz would sit the Red Sox down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 6th and we would move to the 7th inning with Boston up 3-1. Mitch Haniger smacked a led off double to start the top of the 7th for Seattle and he would move up to 3rd base when Dylan Moore smoked a ground ball up the middle but was retired as Bogaerts made a terrific diving stop and threw Moore out from his knees. Evan White stepped in and ripped a RBI single into CF scoring Haniger to make it a one run game 3-2 and that would be all for Perez as Darwinzon Hernandez would make his way in from the pen. Tom Murphy welcomed Hernandez to the game with a rocket into LF corner for a long single as White advances to 3rd base giving Seattle runners at the corners with 1 out. Jake Fraley was up next in a big spot with a chance to tie the game and Hernandez would get him swinging at a 96 mph fastball away for a huge strikeout for the 2nd out. Sam Haggerty came up next and hit the ball hard but it was right at Devers who made the catch of the line drive to end the top of the 7th with the Red Sox lead still intact at 3-2. Keynan Middleton pitched a 1-2-3 inning for Seattle in the bottom of the 7th sending the game to the 8th inning with Boston leading 3-2. Hernandez ran a pitch inside and plunked JP Crawford to put the lead off man on for Seattle in the top of the 8th and Jarred Kelenic would pinch run for Crawford with Kyle Lewis coming up to bat. Hernandez would get two strikes on Lewis and try to put him away with a slider low and away but Lewis would get enough of it to bloop a single into RF setting up runners on the corners with nobody out. Boston manager Alex Cora would stick with Hernandez for the lefty matchup against Kyle Seager and Hernandez would get a huge strikeout as he froze Seager with a 95 mph fastball at the letters for the 1st out. Adam Ottavino would be called on to pitch to Mitch Haniger who fell behind 0 & 2 and Ottavino tried to bury a slider away but Haniger would punch it into RF for a RBI single to tie the score 3-3. Christian Arroyo would make a diving play to knock down a ground ball to the right side by Dylan Moore but all runners would be safe and the bases were now loaded with 1 out. Ty France would be called on to pinch hit for White with the bases loaded and 1 out with the score tied 3-3 and France would jump ont he first pitch he saw from Ottavino and lined a RBI single into RF scoring two runs and giving the Mariners a 5-3 lead. Ottavino would get Tom Murphy to bounce into and inning ending double play but the damage was done as Seattle scores 3 runs in the top of the 8th and now lead 5-3. Erik Swanson came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Seattle and retired the Red Sox in order to send the game to the 9th. Josh Taylor got Seager to ground out to end the top of the 9th stranding runners on the corners and the Red Sox would come up to bat in the bottom of the 9th trailing 5-3 with Kendall Graveman coming on to try and close it out for Seattle. Graveman recorded two quick outs before Rafael Devers singled to keep the game alive and bring the tying run to the plate for Boston. Graveman had two strikes on Christian Vazquez but Vazquez was able to line a ball into RF for a single and bring up Hunter Renfroe with two men on. Graveman was one strike away again and tried to put Renfroe away with a changeup but Renfroe would drive it deep to LF and high off the green monster for a double as Deveres and Vazquez score to tie the game 5-5. Drew Steckenrider replaced Graveman on the mound and Michael Chavis came up next with a chance to be the hero but he would ground out and the game was headed to extra innings. Taylor and Hirokazu Sawamura would combine to pitch the top of the 10th and the Mariners failed to score the extra innings runner on 2nd base. The Red Sox would Chavis on 3rd base to end the bottom of the 10th and we would play on. Matt Barnes retired the Mariners in order in the top of the 11th. JD Martinez start the bottom of the 11th with a rocket into LF for a single setting up runners at the corners with the winning run 90 feet away for Xander Bogaerts with nobody out. Bogaerts would hit a chopper in front of the plate and would be thrown out at first for the out. The Mariners would walk Devers to load the bases for Christian Vazquez with 1 out and Vazquez would jump on the first pitch from Steckenrider and line it into LF for a walk off RBI single to give the Red Sox a thrilling 6-5 victory in 11 innings

                        * NOTE* - I WILL BE POSTING MUCH SHORTER RECAPS GOING FORWARD

                        * The Red Sox were leading 3-2 when the Mariners exploded for 3 runs in the top of the 8th to take a 5-3 lead. The Red Sox were down to their final strike in the bottom of the 9th when Hunter Renfroe hammered a ball high off the green monster for a two run double to tie the game 5-5. The score remained tied 5-5 until the bottom of the 11th when Christian Vazquez lined a ball into LF to give Boston a 6-5 walk off victory

                        * The Red Sox improve to 12-8 while the Mariners fall to 5-14 on the season

                        * Martin Perez pitched well throwing 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs on 6 hits with 6 Ks to lower his ERA to 6.86 as he looks to get on track after a tough start to the season

                        * Justus Sheffield was forced to leae the game with an arm injnury just 3 pitches into his outing. The Mariners dodge a bullet though as Sheffield is expected to make his next start and not require time on the IL

                        * Hunter Renfroe went 2 for 4 with a double, HR & 3 RBI for Boston

                        * Kike Hernandez incredible start to the season continues as he belted his 9th HR of the season

                        * The Red Sox and Mariners play the 2nd game of this 4 game series tomorrow as Nathan Eovaldi gets the start for Boston against Justin Dunn for Seattle

                        HIGHLIGHTS

Can someone explain to me how and when to use the directional influences? Should I be using them every at bat on every pitch? Certain counts? When should I use them? Or should I not use them? I am so confused with this. Thank you!

I only use the directional influence on bunts

I let the zone hitting and pitch location dictate where I hit the ball on swings

TNK - Boston Red Sox Franchise
                              Game #21 of the season

Seattle Mariners (5-14) @ Boston Red Sox (12-8)
Pitching Matchup - Justin Dunn vs Nathan Eovaldi

The game was tied 1-1 after 4 innings as Evan White gave the Mariners a 1-0 lead with a solo HR in the 2nd inning and JD Martinez tied it up 1-1 with a RBI single in the bottom of the 4th for Boston. The Mariners blew the game open in the top of the 6th as JP Crawford made it 3-1 with a RBI triple high off the green monster in left-center and Evan White followed with a towering fly ball into the monster seats for his 2nd HR of the game to make it 5-1. The Red Sox would answer in the bottom of the 6th as Alex Verdugo launched a solo HR down the RF line to make it 5-2 and Rafael Devers drove a fastball from Dunn for an opposite field 2-run HR into the monster seats to pull Boston within a run at 5-4 as we moved to the 7th inning. Seattle loaded the bases in the top of the 7th but Hirokazu Sawamura would escape the jam and Matt Andriese would wiggle out of trouble in the top of the 8th to keep it a 5-4 game. Rafael Montero pitched a scoreless bottom of the 8th to send the game to the 9th inning with Seattle leading 5-4. Matt Barnes retired the side in the top of the 9th and Boston would come to bat in the bottom of the 9th against Kendall Graveman who blew the save in yesterdays game. Graveman would get Vazquez and Gonzalez to fly out and the Red Sox were down to their final out. Bobby Dalbec would go down swinging on a curveball to end the game as Graveman earns the save and the Mariners win 5-4

                              * The Red Sox and Mariners have split the first two games of this 4 game series and Boston falls to 12-9 while Seattle improves to 6-14 on the season

                              * Evan White had a big day at the plate for Seattle going 3 for 3 with 2 HR & 3 RBI

                              * Alex Verdugo and Rafael Devers each hit their 4th HR of the season for Boston

                              * Nathan Eovaldi was pitching well before falling apart in the 6th inning as he allows 5 runs in 5.1 innings on 8 hits with 1 walk and 5 Ks to take the loss and fall to 2-3 with a 3.52 ERA on the season

                              * The Red Sox and Mariners will play the 3rd game of this 4 game series tomorrow as Eduardo Rodriguez takes the mound for Boston against Marco Gonzalez for Seattle

**TRANSACTION** - The Red Sox made a move after the game as they sent Michael Chavis back to AAA Worcester and called up utility man Danny Santana. Chavis was hitting just .115 since being called up from Worcester while Santana was working his way back from an injury suffered last season when he signed with Boston late in spring training. Santana is a switch hitter who can hit for power and will give the team some versatility as he can play a number of positions in the infield & outfield

                              HIGHLIGHTS
Evan White hit a solo HR in the 1st inning and hit a two run shot for his 2nd HR of the game in the 6th inning

First off I am by no means that good at this game but these settings seem way to easy? I am hitting 6-8 Hr per game and getting close to 15 hits per game. Really non competitive games so far.
