Absolutely. The presentation improvements even if it is just a small thing. From the announcers having a conversation about a player. A lot of different players they’ll say where they are from and went to school at. Talking about George Springer’s SAY Foundation. Lots more storylines. The defensive animations are gorgeous. Especially the first baseman stretching and the infielder plays.

I haven’t done or looked at any scouting or draft stuff. The first week it does already notify you that you have a scouting task to do. But with us testing we just skip it for now.

Trying to nail down the sliders and we are very close. So we didn’t get too much of a chance to enjoy a franchise and the full presentation yet cause we are playing on fast play.

    What are your hesitations?

      Re: S & B’s Directional/Classic MLB 23 Sliders

Okay, boys and girls! We are confident in saying Version 1 is ready, and I gotta say this game is gold this year. Bryan updated the OP, but here is a quick breakdown of a few things.

Like last year, the cpu pitcher stamina needs to be one click higher than the user. We humans can preserve stamina when pitching using classic pitching interface by not holding the button down until vibration. The cpu may not use max effort on every pitch, but they definitely don't put minimum effort into any pitch like we can if we choose.

Since quick counts changed to count all pitches this year, we had to test stamina differently, and there are different values with QC on and QC off. Both of us will again play using quick counts. So long as you use these stamina settings everything else will work the same.

      QC ON: HUM SP/RP Stamina - 6/6
      CPU SP/RP Stamina - 7/7

      QC OFF: HUM SP/RP stamina - 7/7
      CPU SP/RP Stamina - 8/8

User pitch control/consistency is 3/2, which gives us the balance of pitching with good control over absolute pinpoint precision.

We settled on cpu contact up to 8, just like last year. They are dangerous, so be careful when pitching. This helps them check swing so they aren't striking out every time they attempt to check their swing. Timing is 7.

Solid hits down to 3. At 4, it was a homerun and doubles fest. 3 gives us the singles, and they will punish your mistake pitches at the same time.

Anything fielding game/run speed you see and unsure about or have questions about feel free. As always with our set. They look funky but trust us, they work well together as one.

We tested human hitting only a little bit but feel pretty good with where we are to continue testing. The major thing is having cpu stamina at 8 for no QC and 7 for QC on. Solid hit MUST be 3 like the cpu, or else you're ripping the cover off the ball most of the time. Timing is 0 like last year, so we strike out enough. Everything else is default 5.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. We definitely use that to help. We hope everyone enjoys what I would say is Version 1.0. Bryan and I will be taking these to begin our own franchises very soon.

        Re: S & B’s Directional/Classic MLB 23 Sliders

What we went by was we always tried to have the pitcher get yellow on average about 10 pitches above their stamina rating. So a stamina rating of 92 should be able to go 102 pitches before getting yellow. But stress also lowers it faster so sometimes they won’t make it that far. So starter stamina using no QC should be 7.

For Quick counts, they do not give us the free pitch this year. Last year, you start with a 2-2 count, it would count as 3 pitchers. This year, they count every pitch. Which is fine but it also means higher pitch counts. You don’t get the luxury of one or two pitch AB’s. You will see pitch counts for a pitcher now at 120 pitches before getting yellow. So we found a fix for that. You can’t go by quick counts face value anymore. So in the 6th inning of a regular game, your pitcher should be starting to get tired. We have an example below.

Spencer Turnbull has a stamina rating of 72. He got tired at 103 pitches. I checked and he had faced 20 batters. So that is 20 extra pitches that we gained from last year. You minus 20 from 103 and he would have got tired at 83 pitches. Which sounds about right. If you go by pitch count, they will never tire at 80-90 pitches. You could lower stamina to make them tired at that point, but pitchers wouldn’t be able to go 5-6 innings.

Let us know if you have any questions.

I will be starting my 162 game season today.

I put Diaz in AAA .

The prospects like Baty and Alvarez have got decent ratings l so I may be bringing them up regardless of what the real team does. In fact Alvarez is on my opening day roster.

I might bring Diaz back towards the end of the year.
          I'm not sure.

I will be giving slider feedback.

              Oh decided on the Mets!

I am down to 3 teams as of right now. But the Reds seem interesting this year as a fun rebuild.

Mariners: Love the stadium and the outside stadium shots between innings. That is a fun young team to play with.

Cubs: Never played a full season with the Cubs even though I’m a Cubs fan. But their team is kind of interesting and can be fun this year. And I like the NL Central stadiums that I will get to play a lot in.

Yankees: It would be fun to play with them this year with their rookies coming up.

I usually put mine at 3 or 4. If hitting gets too easy I will lower it down.

You could probably do 1-3. Try 3 for a game and see what happens. If you don’t strike out enough for your liking, then lower it slowly.

Hitting is very dependent on each person’s skill level or even vision. I was striking out a lot last night but was also rusty since I didn’t hit for a week. We might have to look into raising it ourselves because we were getting about 12-13 K’s per game.

Diaz being out presents a challenge to find a solution.
Plus they got the two prospects who are both going to see time. I like playing with rookie prospects and trying to make them be good. Alvarez are Baty are going to play important roles for me.

Once I do a full season with the Mets I will likely start a Braves season.

I just played the first inning of my opening day game.

The CPU stole 2nd and 3rd on me.

Bertl the Marlins SS did it.

Had a question about the 30 team control stuff in the opening post.

I LOVE the idea of fixing the bullpens and doing the manual trade deadline but was wondering, with lineups set to manual, are you constantly going in and fixing lineups for the CPU when players get hurt?

If so that would certainly add realism since you’re making the smartest choice for each team, but could get tedious too

I'm so ready now to start my Guardians franchise! Keep thinking about ideas today. The hardest part with tweaking cpu offense to be a consistent challenge is over, and it's time to play.

I'm not going to try and play every game this year. One game per series was my initial thought, but I'm thinking about playing two games per. Really want to get through multiple seasons to be able to make use of the draft and scouting this year. Hopefully, I'll see some drafted guys make the big leagues before I'm done playing 2023. Would you guys be interested in reading my franchise progress here? I know I'm simulating games, but I can still write up some summaries for each series.

I leave the lineups alone. I even let the cpu set mine to be "fair." The pitching rotation and bullpen setup I do fix for every team before I play a game. I'll make a separate save after setting it up as a base start just in case I need to or want to restart.

I turn sim injuries to 0 for minor league games cause if not, you'll see way too many. I set the injury notification on MLB only for the cpu teams. When there is a guy who goes on the IL, then I manually call up a guy to replace him. Takes 30 seconds. I write down who was injured and who I call up so when they heal, I can send down the same guy quickly.

When a pitcher is injured I will of course adjust their rotation or bullpen to keep it fixed. If it's a position player I don't bother with the lineup and let them handle that.

Biggest thing that's unfair in the game imo is cpu will have a lot of injuries from simulating and you won't have as many if you play every game. One idea I did before is save franchise. Sim my team's game first and note any injuries. Reload save and play game, and manually injure the player with what the previous sim gave me.

Of course this means injuries off for games played but long run you have realistic amount of injuries and keeps it fair. That's up to you though cause it's extra work.
