If so that would certainly add realism since you’re making the smartest choice for each team, but could get tedious too
I, personally, have lineups set to manual and fix the bullpen so that they can have good sim stats. If you have it to auto, they will change it back.

I’ll get a notification that a lineup or rotation is not set. So I’ll go fix it really quick.

It does get tedious at times too. But I think it’s worth it.

To begin the season, I will go through the teams and make sure teams only have 2 catchers. Sometimes the CPU puts 3 catchers on the team. The CPU doesn’t really utilize the 3rd catcher so it’s pointless. I’ll make sure the teams have 13 pitchers to give them a 8 man bullpen. Otherwise, bullpens get taxed during long stretches. And the CPU doesn’t really shuffle arms back and forth that well.

Let us know if you have any questions on anything.

I would love to read everybody’s franchise progress on here. It is a fun read especially when you can’t play or bored at work. I know Dragster uses our 22 sliders and I enjoy reading his process in the franchise thread.

I do the same with Catchers lol. Dumb why some teams carry 3. Last year I found a quick way to get a start on bullpen fixing.

This is for MLB, AAA, and AA: Amount of pitchers for each equally...

        CP- 1 (MLB ONLY)
        SP- 6
RP- 6...7 for AAA and AA since you don't have a CP

Manually edit positions to make this happen. If a RP has super high stamina I will make them a SP or edit stamina to be lower than 40 and keep them a RP. But once you have those number above it's easy. On rare occasions I will even sign a random low overall free agent to fulfill 6 SP or RP needed for each. Yes I release their lowest guy who is usually not real anyway.

I always put waivers on manual so no one is claimed when I remove from 40 man roster to make all this happen. Then they all just get sent down like I wanted anyway in the end.

6th starter is your 4th MRP slot/long relief. The biggest issue is cpu will have 2 or 3 SP in the bullpen, or at least 2-3 guys with 60+ stamina in the bullpen. Once you meet roster numbers above setting bullpen is quick.

First game of the season, using the guardians. Score was 9-7 I won. I had 9 hits they had 14.. they started off the first inning with 4 runs. I didn’t get in the board till the 5th inning. I had 4 HR they had 3.

Crazy game right off the bat. I am positive it will calm down. Steve tried these sliders and he first thought they were too easy until he faced a good team.

And I have played a couple test games using Bieber (assuming you used him opening day) and I got shelled with him each time. And I know Rmiok is playing as the Guardians and the Mariners hit him around as well.

It does seem like the cpu can hit all over the field while I only hit grounders out to second or 3rd pop ups and homers that’s it

Excited to try the updated OP sliders this evening. With the pickoff set to 0, will we still see the CPU try pickoffs?

Ooops…I forgot to add that. Yes, pickoffs will still be at 0. They do still throw over there.

It should open up more on your offense. Sounds like your timing was off on those swings. And sometimes you get those balls that just find the gloves.

Really more personal preference. I use auto base running and let them attempt steals for me, therefore I don't care to see them throw over to 1st. Raise until you see the amount you want. Remember real life pitch clock rules if u want to follow. Pitcher only allowed to disengage twice per at bat. So if he throws over once and steps off mound before next pitch, then he can not throw over again until next at bat.

An idea I've had, but never actually done (if you care)...

Play every game with the ace (Cole, for me). Then each time through the rotation, use a different starter.

So you'd play games 1 and 2....sim 3,4,5, then play game 6 of your season (Cole), sim 7 (#2 starter), and play game 8 (#3 starter), then back around to the #1. (hopefully that makes sense, lol)

This way you're using every starter, but also playing all the games with the ace, which (for me, at least) is the most fun.

Use these as a base, especially for user hitting that's user skill dependent in a lot of ways. If u need to lower or raise pitch speed to help. I wouldn't recommend raising solid hits, or else most of your contact will be hard hit and unrealistic. However, that will give you lots of doubles in the gaps, homeruns, etc if you are wanting more of that.

Remember also some players are going to start off hot and cold. You're going to rake with some and others can't make solid contact to save your life. It's the beauty of this game as you play through a season.

That is a cool idea. I have heard people play every 6 gave where pitch with every pitcher. But not that way. Now would you sim or quick manage?
