It is quite sad that I have to add that I'm wondering about this in all honesty.

I have been talking with Dowie for a while as he was testing sim slider settings via PM etc.

I have known him personally going on 4-5 years maybe longer.

What I don't need to hear is how to post in my own thread.

I appreciate your feedback.....but I am not interested in pissing matches about the OP.

We are all here to help each other enjoy the game to the fullest.

Period.

I always make sure I applaud everyone who contributes. And your input has been appreciated.

But know that Dowie and RaiderRen via PM and text has shared with me all there testing for weeks and weeks since I jumped into 23. And both of them have been playing 23 since release unlike myself. And I am sure you have as well.

Whomever I acknowledge on the OP is in no way meant to slight anyone else who may have been doing their own testing etc.

I am all about the modding/roster community in The OS Show community. Without all of you the game is nothing close to how great we all collectively make it.

I don't want petty crap disrupting our good positive yet constructive vibe we typically have on our threads.

The month of April has been completed in Yankees Year 1 and we are already well on our way in May.


I will type up a monthly recap with player statistics, standings and storylines around the league.

Hopefully I will have that completed by the end of tomorrow afternoon.

OK, let me clean up the clutter.

@armor feel free to add this to your sliders on page 1. I'm locking these in.


Below are for those of us that want the correct SIM stats for total # of complete games and total # of 200 inning pitchers:


2023 franchise play: (using OOTB "or close to it" rosters/attributes)
SP 2
RP 0
Hook 10

1998 season play: (using ATG's 1998 rosters)
SP 5
RP 5
Hook 5
Default sliders works great!!!

1984 or 1985 season play: (using ATG's 1984 or 1985 rosters WITH their rebranding set-up)

2 options:

If you care more about the total # of Complete Games being accurate:
SP 8
RP 6
Hook 0

If you care more about the total # of 200 inning pitchers being accurate:
SP 5
RP 5
Hook 7

I tested both ways……results were eerily similar.

Personally, I keep sliders as-is and don’t change them to 5.

I am keeping my sliders as is and only making the recommended changes when simulating games.

I save that set as "Simulated game sliders" and load them every time I simulate all the days games before playing mine. Then I load back in my slider set to play my game.

I'm looking for a little help setting up 30 team control. I spent a long time editing the lineups and rotations in the roster, but as soon as I go to start a Franchise the CPU has done their own lineups and rotations, and I think 30 team control is the only way I'll be able to avoid that.

However, I don't really understand how to set up another "CPU Franchise" profile to assign to other teams. Right now I have my profile assigned to all the teams, but I don't think that is correct. Could someone help me out?

I create 1 profile and name it ME.
I then create a duplicate profile and name it CPU.

When I start a franchise, and it takes me to the team assignment screen, I use the ME profile for my team, and then assign the other 29 teams the profile titled CPU.

This version of The Show (with these sliders) is prob the best playing “virtual sports sim” I’ve experienced yet.

Yeah, there are still warts, but it’s almost related to how the CPU “manages” their GM, lineup and bullpen, but that’s nothing new.

If the IF bobbles were cut in half the game is a 9.

My biggest gripe is with historical roster play.

The game is so polished and the graphics are so clean that I am having a hard time getting into classic era play on 23.

I need it to “feel/look” more gritty to better represent the 70s, 80s and 90s, and it has ABSOLUTELY ZERO to do with the classic roster sets…………..probably just my own hang ups, because I am so used to how well classic seasons felt/looked on 20.

It is crazy. I feel the fielding as improved since 2021 and 2022 but those bobbles are crazy. It does take away what would be an awesome play by the fielder. As I am thinking while I type this, do you recall any infielder actually just missing the ball and having the ball go under the diving glove and into the outfield? You see the balls go through and just out of reach from the diving infielder. But not like just under the glove. It is almost like they come in contact with too many balls while diving. Maybe I’m just crazy lol

And I haven’t noticed if the ratings matter with those or not.

I don’t think I’ve seen a ball ever go right through a fielders legs w/o them making contact w/the ball. That would be a really cool animation.

So we live with it.

As far as classic roster play.....it is fantastic with the slider adjustments.

If SDS added a retro filter like 2K....oh boy!!

Yup, plays great and the player models are great as well......just not visually "gritty" enough.....so we deal.

A filter would be amazing!

What I’ve done since the beginning of the year when I used Bryan’s sliders is turning hook up to 10 when the starter exits the game. Works fine for me, but it depends. I also try to keep anyone with 40+ stamina out of the long relief spot
