    Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

I have spent the past few nights making the necessary free agent moves, adding in some missing players from the vault (ex: Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, etc.), making any recent trades.....then getting my 30 team control franchise set up and then going through each team to set the oopening day rosters, set rotations & lineups, etc.

I've also done equipment edits to every player on the Red Sox and my season opening series opponent Seattle Mariners.

I am debating whether to play opening day right now or wait til opening day and spend the next few nights updating the equipment for upcoming opponents. Usually what I do is edit the opposing team before each series rather than spend the ridiculous amount of time it takes to go through all 30 teams in one swoop

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE

        Game #1 of Season

Boston Red Sox (0-0) @ Seattle Mariners (0-0)
Pitching Matchup – Brayan Bello vs Luis Castillo

The Red Sox open the 2024 season with a 10 game road trip beginning with 4 games against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park before the Red Sox move on for 3 games with the Oakland A's and 3 with the Los Angeles Angels. Brayan Bello gets the opening day start on the mound for Boston and he will be opposed by Luis Castillo for Seattle

The Red Sox went down in as Luis Castillo retired the side in the top of the 1st and Brayan Bello quickly retired the first two batters in the bottom of the 1st before leaving a sinker over the plate to Jorge Polanco who launched it into the RF stands for a solo HR giving Seattle a 1-0 lead. Castillo had 4 Ks through his first two innings of work and Bello picked up a pair of Ks in the bottom of the 2nd as the Mariners had a 1-0 lead after 2 innings. The Red Sox got on the board in the top of the 3rd when Ceddanne Rafaela led off with a rocket off the wall for a double and he would come home to score on a sac fly by Connor Wong tying the game 1-1. Bello cruised through the bottom of the 3rd and we would head to the 4th inning tied 1-1. Rafael Devers led off the top of the 4th with the first Red Sox HR of the season when he turned on a 95 mph fastball from Castillo and hit a 432 foot missile to RF for a solo HR putting Boston up 2-1. The Red Sox were getting to Castillo as Trevor Story followed with a single and Triston Casas lined a ball over the head of Canzone in LF for a double putting runners on 2nd & 3rd with nobody out. Castillo got a generous strike 3 call to retire Tyler O'Neill but Masataka Yoshida fouled off some tough pitches before grounding out to the right side and picking up a RBI as Story scored to make it 3-1. Rafaela drew a 2 out walk but Castillo would strikeout Enmanuel Valdez to end the inning but Castillo was up to 86 pitches through 4 innings of work as the Red Sox have put together some excellent at bats. The Mariners answered in the bottom of the 4th as Julio Rodriguez and Mitch Garver found holes with ground balls for singles and Cal Raleigh hit a towering 3-run HR to CF giving Seattle a 4-3 lead. The Red Sox got singles from Wong and Duran to start the top of the 5th and Story would draw a walk to load the bases for Casas with 1 out. Castillo was up to 108 pitches and would exit as Austin Voth came in to a tough spot with the bases loaded. Casas hit the ball hard on a line but right at Polanco at second base for the 2nd out and Voth would get O'Neill to ground out to Polanco as he escapes the jam and the score remains 4-3. Bello pitched a scoreless bottom of the 5th to send the game to the 6th inning with the Mariners leading 4-3. Voth retired the side in the top of the 6th while Bello pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 6th striking out Haniger looking to end the inning and send the game to the 7th inning with Seattle up 4-3. Voth struck out Wong to begin the top of the 7th and Taylor Saucedo would replace Voth on the mound and retire Duran before striking out Devers to end the top of the 7th. Bello finished off his outing with a 1-2-3 bottom of the 7th and we would head to the 8th inning with Seattle leading 4-3. Ryne Stanek was on to pitch the top of the 8th and retired the first two batters before Tyler O'Neill got a fastball down in the zone and launched a rocket over the LF wall for a solo HR to tie the game up at 4-4. Chris Martin came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Boston with the top of the Seattle lineup due up and JP Crawford lined to RF for a lead off single. Martin tried to go up and in with a fastball to Julio Rodriguez and he was able to clean it out and launch a 2-run HR to LF giving the Mariners a 6-4 lead. Martin settled down and retired the next 3 hitters to send the game to the 9th inning with Seattle leading 6-4. Mariners closer Anders Munoz was on looking to close out the game for Seattle and he would hang a slider out over the plate to Rafaela who belted a solo HR cutting the deficit to 6-5. Valdez flew out to Rodriguez in CF for the 1st out and Wilyer Abreu would come on to pinch hit for Wong with 1 out. Munoz would blow a 101 mph fastball by Abreu for the strikeout and the Red Sox were down to their final out with Jarren Duran coming to the plate and Rafael Devers lurking in the on deck circle. Duran would battle Munoz to a full count before lining a single to RF to keep the game alive for Boston and bring Rafael Devers to the plate. Devers was looking for a first pitch fastball and got one right down the middle and Devers hammered it into the RF stands for his 2nd HR of the night giving the Red Sox a 7-6 lead. Gregory Santos came on to replace Munoz after the blown save and got Story to ground out to Crawford ending the frame and send the game to the bottom of the 9th with Kenley Jansen coming on to try and close it out for Boston. Mitch Haniger led off the frame with a single to LF and Dominic Canzone followed with a sac bunt that he would beat out for a single putting two men on with nobody out. Jansen would make a good pitch to Ty France getting him to bounce back to the mound to start a huge 1-6-3 double play and the Mariners were down to their final out with the tying run 90 feet away at 3rd base and Josh Rojas coming up. Jansen would get two strikes on Rojas and would get him to pop up to Devers in foul ground for the final out as the Red Sox come from behind in the 9th for a dramatic 7-6 win on Opening Day

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE

          Game #2 of Season

Boston Red Sox (1-0) @ Seattle Mariners (0-1)
Pitching Matchup – Nick Pivetta vs George Kirby

The Red Sox jumped out to a 2-0 lead right away as Jarren Duran led off the game with a single and Rafael Devers picked up right where he left off yesterday as he belted a 2-run HR to RF putting Boston up 2-0. The Mariners answered in the bottom of the 1st as Julio Rodriguez is also off to a hot start and he hit a solo HR to cut the Sox lead to 2-1. George Kirby and Nick Pivetta cruised through the 2nd inning and we would head to the 3rd inning with Boston leading 2-1. Jarren Duran turned on a fastball from Kirby and launched a solo HR to RF leading off the top of the 3rd to extend the Boston lead to 3-1. Pivetta retired the side in the bottom of the 3rd sending the game to the 4th inning with Boston up 3-1. Pivetta picked up two Ks in the bottom of the 4th as he froze both Polanco and Haniger with nasty breaking balls and the score remained 3-1 after 4 innings. Enmanuel Valdez led off the top of the 5th with his second double of the game but Kirby would get out of the jam striking out Devers to end the threat and keep it a 3-1 game. Pivetta pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of 5th to send the game to the 6th inning with the Red Sox leading 3-1. The Red Sox would add to their lead in the top of the 6th when Casas led off with a single and O'Neill followed with a drive in the gap to left-center for a RBI double as Casas came all the way around to score from first base making it 4-1. Kirby would exit the game as Cody Bolton came in to take over on the mound for Seattle and Masataka Yoshida lined a RBI double to right-center making it 5-1. Valdez drew a walk and Bolton hit McGuire with a pitch loading the bases with 2 outs for Jarren Duran but he would fly out to CF as Bolton escapes the jam and strands the bases loaded. The Mariners answered in the bottom of the 6th as Crawford singled to lead off the inning and Pivetta left a cutter over the plate to Julio Rodriguez who drove it to right-center for his 2nd HR of the night cutting the deficit in half 5-3. Pivetta would come back to retire the next two hitters before Cal Raleigh drew a 2 out walk. Haniger was up next and ripped a ball up the middle but Story made an nice diving stop and flipped to second for the 3rd out ending the inning and sending the game to the 7th with Boston leading 5-3. Taylor Saucedo came on to pitch for Seattle and stranded a runner at third base in a scoreless top of the 7th while Josh Winckowski made his way in to take over on the mound for Boston and made quick work of the Mariners with a 1-2-3 bottom of the 7th. Gabe Speier pitched a scoreless top of the 8th as Canzone crashed into the wall in LF to make a catch on a drive by Valdez keeping it a 5-3 ball game. Winckowski returned to the mound for the bottom of the 8th and the Mariners were threatening after Crawford doubled and Rodriguez reached on an error by Devers putting two men on with nobody out for Seattle. Winckowski came back to record back to back Ks of Polanco and Garver for two big outs before exiting as Joely Rodriguez came on to face Cal Raleigh with 2 outs. Raleigh came through as he stayed back on a changeup and sliced a liner into the RF corner for a two run double as Rodriguez just beat the relay throw to the plate and we were all tied up 5-5. Rodriguez would retire Haniger to end the inning and we would move to the 9th inning with the score tied 5-5. Speier retired the Sox in order in the top of the 9th and the Mariners would have a chance to walk off with a victory in the bottom of the 9th. Greg Weissert came on to pitch for Boston and would get into trouble when he walked Crawford to put two men on with 2 outs for Julio Rodriguez who was 3 for 4 with 2 HR in the ball game. Weissert would record a huge K as he struck out Rodriguez on a filthy slider to end the 9th and send the game to extra innings tied 5-5. Trent Thornton was on the mound for Seattle to begin the top of the 10th with Devers on second base as the extra innings runner and Story led off with a single setting up runners on the corners with nobody out. Triston Casas would bring in Devers with a RBI sac fly putting Boston up 6-5 but Thornton would retire the next two batters to limit the damage. The Mariners came up to bat in the bottom of the 10th with Chris Martin on to pitch for Boston and he would issue a lead off walk to Polanco putting two men on with no outs. Martin located his sinker perfectly to induce a ground ball from Garver to start a 3-6-3 double play and the Mariners were down to their final out with Cal Raleigh coming up to bat with the tying run 90 feet away at third base. Martin thought he had a called strike 3 on a sinker away but it was called a ball to keep the at bat alive for Raleigh before Martin came back up and in with a 96 mph fastball that froze Raleigh for a called strike 3 to end the game and give the Red Sox a 6-5 win in 10 innings

            Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE

            Game #3 of Season

Boston Red Sox (2-0) @ Seattle Mariners (0-2)
Pitching Matchup – Kutter Crawford vs Logan Gilbert

The Red Sox jumped out to a 1-0 lead right away as Rafael Devers scorching hot start continues as Logan Gilbert hung a slider and Rafael Devers crushed it 453 feet to RF for a solo HR. Julio Rodriguez has matched Devers through the first two games of the series and answered again in the bottom of the 1st when Kutter Crawford threw a fastball low and away but Rodriguez was able to hit a towering fly ball the opposite way to RF that cleared the wall for a solo HR tying the game 1-1. Polanco doubled and the Mariners were making Crawford work as he was over 30 pitches thrown in the inning as Mitch Haniger stepped in with runners on the corners and 2 outs. Crawford would escape the inning as Haniger bounced to Valdez who flipped to Story at second base to end the 1st inning with the score tied 1-1. Gilbert struck out the side as Wong, Duran and Devers all went down by way of the K in the top of the 3rd and Crawford would end the bottom of the 3rd by striking out Raleigh looking sending the game to the 4th inning with the score tied 1-1. Gilbert made it 6 straight Ks when he struck out Story, Casas and O'Neill in the top of the 4th while Crawford struck out two batters in a 1-2-3 bottom of the 4th to send the game to the 5th inning tied 1-1. Gilbert struck out Wong for his 8th K of the night to end the top of the 5th and Crawford retired the side in order in the bottom of the 5th as we would head to the 6th inning with the score still tied 1-1. Gilbert continued to cruise on the mound for Seattle as he sat the Red Sox down in order in the top of the 6th. Crawford returned to the mound for the bottom of the 6th and gave up a lead off single to Polanco but came right back to get Garver to hit a ground ball to Devers to start a 5-6-3 double play and would finish off his outing by retiring Raleigh on a ground out to Devers ending the 6th inning and sending the game to the 7th inning still tied 1-1. Gilbert struck out Casas to begin the top of the 7th to record his 10th K of the night before Tyler O'Neill singled to put a man on with 1 out. Yoshida was up next and he ripped a ball hard on the ground right at France to start a 3-6-3 inning ending double play to end the top of the 7th. Justin Slaten came on to pitch the bottom of the 7th for Boston making his major league debut and he would pitch a 1-2-3 inning to send the game to the 8th inning with the score still tied 1-1. Gregory Santos took over on the mound for the Mariners for the top of the 8th and Wilyer Abreu led off the inning with a deep drive to left-center but Canzone would make a nice running catch on the warning track and crash into the wall for the 1st out. Santos retired Valdez on a ground ball for the 2nd out before leaving a 97 mph sinker over the plate to Connor Wong who crushed it deep to CF just missing a HR as the ball hit off the wall and Wong had to settle for a double. Jarren Duran was up next and he swung at a 99 mph fastball on the first pitch he saw from Santos and hit a blooper into no mans land down the LF line for a RBI single as Wong scored to put the Red Sox up 2-1. Devers singled up the middle and Duran raced to third base setting up runners at the corners with 2 outs and the Red Sox threatening to extend the lead with Story coming up. Story fell behind in the count before ripping a line drive with two strikes right at Rojas at third base who made the catch to end the frame as Santos gets out of the jam and the Sox strand a pair but now have a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the 8th. Slaten returned to the mound for Boston and made a quality pitch with two strikes to Rojas as he located a back door slider down and away but Rojas was able to slice a line drive down the LF line for a lead off double. Slaten made another good pitch running a two-seamer in to JP Crawford who hit a ground ball up the middle for a single setting up a big opportunity for the Mariners with Julio Rodriguez coming up with runners on the corners and nobody out. Isaiah Campbell replaced Slaten on the mound for Boston and comes into a tough spot for his Red Sox debut. Enmanuel Valdez would make a great defensive play as he got up to snare a line drive by Rodriguez to take away a base hit and prevent a run from scoring as the runners had to remain at their bases. Polanco stepped in with runners on the corners and 1 out and the Mariners would attempt a squeeze play as both runners were in motion and Polanco tried to lay down a bunt but he would hit a soft liner in front of the mound and Campbell raced off the mound to make the catch and double up Crawford at first base as the Mariners blow a golden opportunity and fail to score as Campbell escapes a huge jam and the Red Sox were leading 2-1 after 8 innings. Trent Thornton came on to pitch the top of the 9th for Seattle and he gave up a lead off single to Casas before hanging a breaking ball to Tyler O'Neill who crushed a 435 foot blast over the bullpens in left-center for a 2-run HR to open up the Red Sox lead to 4-1. Yoshida followed with a single and Abreu drew a walk and Thornton would exit without recording an out as Gabe Speier came in from the Mariners bullpen to take over on the mound. Valdez was up next and singled to load the bases with nobody out. Wong hit a fly ball to CF where Rodriguez would make the catch and fire a strike to home plate to nail Yoshida for a huge double play. Speier struck out Duran to end the inning and strand a pair as Speier gets out of trouble and keeps the Mariners within striking distance as they trail 4-1 heading to the bottom of the 9th. Kenley Jansen was on to try and close it out for Boston and he would freeze Garver with a cutter on the 10th pitch of a good battle for the 1st out. Raleigh flew out to O'Neill in LF and the Mariners were down to their final out with Haniger coming up. Jansen had two strikes on Haniger but couldn't put him away as he fouled off some tough pitches before hooking a ball just inside the LF foul pole for a solo HR to cut the Red Sox lead to 4-2. Canzone was up next and he would fly out to Abreu in RF for the final out as Jansen earns his 2nd save and the Red Sox hang on to win 4-2

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE

              Game #4 of Season

Boston Red Sox (3-0) @ Seattle Mariners (0-3)
Pitching Matchup – Garrett Whitlock vs Bryce Miller

The Red Sox opened the scoring in the top of the 1st against Bryce Miller when Rafael Devers hit a towering fly ball into the RF stands for a solo HR putting Boston up 1-0. Triston Casas came up with 2 outs and got a fastball up in the zone from Miller and hit a rocket over the RF wall for his 1st HR of the season making it 2-0. Garrett Whitlock started off well on the mound for Boston striking out JP Crawford and Julio Rodriguez in a 1-2-3 bottom of the 1st. The Mariners got on the board in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Luke Raley doubled to LF with 1 out and Jorge Polanco followed with a ground ball to CF for a RBI single making it 2-1. Luis Urias came up with 2 outs and delivered a RBI single to CF tying the game and Whitlock would record a big K of Rojas to strand a pair and send the game to the 3rd inning tied 2-2. Whitlock had his filthy changeup working and had 8 Ks through 4 innings and the game would head to the 5th inning with the score tied 2-2. The Red Sox took the lead in the top of the 5th when Wilyer Abreu led off with a single and Connor Wong with a shot in the gap to left-center for a RBI double putting Boston up 3-2. Whitlock picked up his 9th K in a scoreless bottom of the 5th sending us to the 6th inning with Boston leading 3-2. Luke Raley made a terrific diving catch on a sinking liner to take a hit away from Trevor Story leading of the top of the 6th. Triston Casas got a hanging slider that stayed up over the plate from Miller and drove it over the wall in RF for his 2nd HR of the game to make it 4-2. Bobby Dalbec drew a 2 out walk and Miller would depart as Cody Bolton entered from the pen to face Abreu who hit the ball on a line but right at Rodriguez in CF for the 3rd out. Whitlock locked up Raley up with a 96 mph fastball up and in for his 10th K of the ball game to begin a 1-2-3 bottom of the 6th inning and we would head to the 7th with Boston up 4-2. Bolton pitched a scoreless top of the 7th for Seattle and the Mariners would get back to back singles by Haniger and Urias putting two men on to begin the bottom of the 7th. Whitlock remained in the game after a mound visit and would locate a changeup low and away to Rojas getting him to hit a ground ball to Reyes at second base to start a huge 4-6-3 double play for two big outs and that would bring up JP Crawford with Haniger on third base and Julio Rodriguez lurking in the on deck circle with 2 outs. Whitlock was running out of gas and Alex Cora would make the move to Joely Rodriguez for the lefty lefty matchup and the move paid off as Crawford grounded out to Reyes for the 3rd out ending the threat and sending the game to the 8th inning with Boston leading 4-2. Masataka Yoshida turned on a high fastball from Bolton with 2 outs in the top of the 8th and hit a solo HR that stayed just inside the RF pole to extend the Sox lead to 5-2. Joely Rodriguez struck out Julio Rodriguez looking to start the bottom of the 8th and Raleigh followed with a ground ball up the middle but he was robbed of a hit on an excellent diving stop by Story who got to his feet and fired a strong throw to get Raleigh for the 2nd out. Rodriguez started to have control issues as he threw 6 straight balls and would walk Raley before coming back to strikeout Polanco and send the game to the 9th inning with the Red Sox leading 5-2. Ryne Stanek pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 9th and the Mariners would come up in the bottom of the 9th trailing 5-2 and Boston would have Greg Weissert on the mound looking to finish it off with Kenley Jansen unavailable for todays game. Ty France led off with a fly ball out to Abreu in RF before back to back singles by France and Urias put two men on and the tying run to the plate in Rojas with 1 out. Rojas lined a ball into left-center for a RBI single to cut the deficit to 5-3 and bring Crawford to the plate with runners on the corners and 1 out. Weissert came back with a huge K as he struck out Crawford on a changeup away for the 2nd out and Julio Rodriguez would come to the plate for a huge at bat with runners on the corners and the Mariners were down to their final out. Weissert bounced the first pitch in the dirt allowing Dominic Canzone who came on as a runner for Rojas to advance to second base putting the tying run in scoring position. Alex Cora put up the four fingers and Weissert would intentionally walk Rodriguez with first base now open and elect to face Cal Raleigh with the bases now loaded and 2 outs. Weissert would get ahead in the count with two strikes on Raleigh and go back to the changeup away and Raleigh would get a piece of it but Wong hung on for the strikeout as Weissert survives and the Red Sox hang on for a 5-3 win and complete the season opening 4 game sweep of the Mariners

                Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

After playing a 4 game series to open the season, I am going to make a couple very minor tweaks just to try and fine tune the sliders. I'll play the upcoming 3 game series at Oakland and if everything feels/looks OK, then I will update the set in post #1 of the thread......the adjustments are:

HUMAN POWER - Reduce from 6 to 5
CPU Strike Frequency - Reduce from 4 to 3

NOTE - I am going to shorten the recaps and highlights as it takes a lot longer to play the game when pausing to type and constantly cut video clips. I will keep the box scores and game notes, just the recap and highlights will be shorter

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE

                  Game #5 of Season

                  Boston Red Sox (4-0) @ Oakland A's (3-1)
Pitching Matchup – Tanner Houck vs Paul Blackburn

The Red Sox are in Oakland to begin a 3 game series with the Oakland A's at the Oakland Coliseum. The Red Sox and A's have both gotten off to surprisingly strong starts to the season as both teams are expected to finish near the bottom of the standings in the American League but Boston opened the season with a 4 game sweep of the Mariners to get off to a 4-0 start while the A's are 3-1 and have won 3 in a row after losing to the Guardians on Opening Day.

The Red Sox opened the scoring against Paul Blackburn in the top of the 2nd when Enmanuel Valdez lined a ball in the gap in left-center for a RBI double putting Boston up 1-0. The A's got on the board against Tanner Houck in the bottom of the 3rd when Toro doubled to lead off and came home to score on a RBI single by JJ Bleday and we would head to the 4th inning tied 1-1. Blackburn and Houck were both pitching well and Houck retired the first two batters in the bottom of the 5th before leaving a sinker up over the plate and Abraham Toro absolutely crushed a 456 foot bomb to RF putting Oakland up 2-1. Houck came back with a K of Bleday to send the game to the 6th inning with the A's leading 2-1. Blackburn and Houck would get through the 6th and we would head to the 7th inning with Oakland up 2-1. TJ McFarland took over for Blackburn and pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 7th while Houck finished off his night with a scoreless bottom of the 7th sending the game to the 8th inning with the A's leading 2-1. Mason Miller came on to pitch the top of the 8th and retired O'Neill, Devers and Casas in order to keep it a 2-1 game. Isaiah Campbell came in to pitch for Boston and Toro would welcome him by hitting a rocket to RF that just cleared the wall for his 2nd HR of the game making it 3-1. The A's would add a pair of runs when Nick Allen doubled to put runners on 2nd & 3rd and Zack Gelof followed with a ground rule double down the RF line to blow the lead open to 5-1. Chase Anderson replaced Campbell and Seth Brown made it 6-1 with a RBI double before Shea Langeliers crushed a 2-run HR making it 8-1. The Red Sox came up to bat in the top of the 9th against Miller trailing 8-1 and Miller would get Valdez to hit into a game ending double play as the A's hand the Red Sox their first loss 8-1

                  GAME NOTES
                  * The Red Sox and A's were tied 1-1 until the 5th inning when Abraham Toro homered to put Oakland up 2-1. The A's blew the game open in the bottom of the 8th when Toro hit his 2nd HR and Oakland would tack on 5 more runs to take a 8-1 lead and hand the Red Sox their first loss of the season 8-1

                  * The Red Sox lose snapping their season opening 4 game win streak and fall to 4-1 on the season while the A's win their 4th straight improving to 4-1 on the season

                  * Rafael Devers went 0 for 4 in the ball game ending his streak of 4 straight games with a HR to start the season

                  * Abraham Toro had a big day at the plate for the A's going 3 for 3 with 2 HR, a double & 2 RBI. Shea Langeliers also homered for Oakland

                  * Tanner Houck pitched 7 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits with 2 walks & 4 Ks as he takes the loss

                  * Paul Blackburn earned the win for Oakland pitching 6 solid innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits with 3 walks & 3 Ks

                  * The Red Sox and A's will play the 2nd game of this 3 game series tomorrow night as Brayan Bello makes his second start of the season for Boston and he will be opposed by Alex Wood who gets the start for Oakland

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE

                    Game #6 of Season

                    Boston Red Sox (4-1) @ Oakland A's (4-1)
Pitching Matchup – Brayan Bello vs Alex Wood

The Red Sox and A's prepare to play the 2nd game of this 3 game series at the Oakland Coliseum. The Red Sox are coming off their first loss of the season and are 4-1 while the A's are also 4-1 and have won 4 in a row after losing to the Guardians on Opening Day. Brayan Bello looks to get the Red Sox back on track making his 2nd start of the season for Boston and he will be opposed by Alex Wood for Oakland

Alex Wood and Brayan Bello were both pitching well early as the Red Sox went quietly in their first 3 trips to the plate and the A's would threaten in the bottom of the 3rd as but Bello got out of a bases loaded jam as Zack Gelof flew out to O'Neill in RF stranding the bases loaded and sending the game to the 4th inning with the game scoreless 0-0. The Red Sox opened the scoring in the top of the 4th when O'Neill singled to lead off and Bobby Dalbec followed with a great at bat as he fouled off some two strike pitches to stay alive before hitting a towering fly ball down the LF line that kept carrying and would come down just out of reach of Brown who leaped at the wall for a 2-run HR giving Boston a 2-0 lead. The A's answered in the bottom of the 4th with a rally that started on a throwing error by Bello and Oakland would get RBI singles from Brown, Butler and Ruiz to take a 3-2 lead after 4 innings. Wood and Bello threw scoreless frames in the 5th sending the game to the 6th inning with Oakland leading 3-2. Austin Adams pitched a scoreless top of the 6th and Bello would issue a walk to Butler to put two men on with 1 out in the bottom of the 6th before exiting as Josh Winckowski came in from the Red Sox pen. Winckowski needed just one pitch to get out of the jam as he got Bleday to ground to Story to start a 6-4-3 inning ending double play and we would head to the 7th inning with the A's up 3-2. Kyle Muller pitched around a lead off single by Wong to get through a scoreless top of the 7th and the A's would add some insurance in the bottom of the 7th as Noda hit a 1 out single and Gelof followed with a gapper for a RBI double to make it 4-2. Oakland had runners at the corners with 1 out for JD Davis who hit the ball hard on the ground towards the hole but Story made an incredible diving stop and threw from the seat of his pants to start a beautiful 6-4-3 double play to end the inning and send the game to the 8th with the A's leading 4-2. Dany Jimenez came on to pitch the top of the 8th for Oakland and Triston Casas just missed a HR driving a ball high off the wall in right-center for a 1 out double. Tyler O'Neill followed with a liner down the RF line for a RBI double making it 4-3. Bobby Dalbec was up next and shot a line drive into the gap for a RBI double tying the game up at 4-4. Mason Miller replaced Jimenez on the mound for the A's and would retire Rafaela and Wong to get out of the jam with the score tied 4-4. Joely Rodriguez came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Boston and struck out Brown before leaving a sinker up over the plate to She Langeliers who drove it over the wall in left-center for a huge solo HR to put the A's up 5-4 with 1 out in the bottom of the 8th. Justin Slaten replaced Rodriguez to record the final out and send the game to the 9th inning with Oakland leading 5-4 and Lucas Erceg coming on to try and close it out for the A's. Masataka Yoshida pinch hit for Pablo Reyes leading off the 9th and grounded out to Gelof at second base for the first out. Erceg would get Duran to ground out to Davis at third base for the 2nd out and the Red Sox were down to their final out with Rafael Devers coming up. Devers hit a bouncer in the hole but Gelof would get to it and throw him out for the final out and the A's win 5-4 and have taken the first two games of the series

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE

                      Game #7 of Season

                      Boston Red Sox (4-2) @ Oakland A's (5-1)
Pitching Matchup – Nick Pivetta vs JP Sears

The Red Sox and A's prepare to play the 3rd and final game of this 3 game series at the Oakland Coliseum. The A's come into the game on a 5 game winning streak and have taken the first 2 games of this 3 game series while the Red Sox look to avoid the sweep. Nick Pivetta will be on the mound for Boston while JP Sears gets the start for Oakland

JP Sears and Nick Pivetta were both pitching well early and Oakland would strike first with 2 outs in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Pivetta hung a breaking ball to Zack Gelof who launched an opposite field HR to RF giving Oakland a 1-0 lead after 3 innings. The Red Sox answered in the top of the 4th when Sears hung a curveball out over the plate that Trevor Story hammered for a solo HR to CF tying the game 1-1 with his 1st HR of the season. The A's took the lead right back with 2 outs in the bottom of the 4th when Pivetta left a slider up over the plate to Shea Langeliers who belted a 414 foot solo HR to LF giving Oakland a 2-1 lead. Sears recorded two quick outs to begin the top of the 5th before Enmanuel Valdez ripped a ground ball down the first base line to the RF corner for a double and Connor Wong followed with a liner in the gap to right-center for a RBI double tying the game 2-2. Pivetta pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 5th striking out Gelof to end his day as he was running out of gas and we would head to the 6th inning tied 2-2. The Red Sox took the lead in the top of the 6th when Rafael Devers was leading off the inning and Sears left a changeup out over the plate and Devers absolutely crushed it 461 feet to RF for a solo HR putting Boston up 3-2. Greg Weissert took over for Pivetta on the mound for Boston and retired the side in order in the bottom of the 6th sending the game to the 7th inning with Boston leading 3-2. Austin Adams came on to pitch for Oakland and Ceddanne Rafaela turned on a fastball leading off the top of the 7th and launched a solo HR to LF giving the Red Sox a 4-2 lead. Weissert returned to the mound and recorded the 1st out before Langeliers drove a ball the opposite way for a solo HR to RF for his 4th HR of the series cutting the Red Sox lead to 4-3. Lawrence Butler followed with a single and Chris Martin would make his way in to take over for Weissert with a man on and 1 out. Martin would come in and get Nick Allen to ground to Devers to start a huge 5-4-3 inning ending double play to send the game to the 8th inning with Boston leading 4-3. TJ McFarland pitched a scoreless top of the 8th for Oakland and Martin would retire Noda to begin the bottom of the 8th before Gelof smoked a ball in the gap for a double to put the tying run in scoring position with 1 out. JJ Bleday grounded out to Valdez at second base bringing up Brent Rooker with 2 outs and the tying run 90 feet away at third base. Martin would record a huge K striking out Rooker on a 98 mph fastball to end the inning and we would go to the 9th inning with the Red Sox clinging to a 4-3 lead. Kyle Muller pitched a scoreless top of the 9th getting Wong to hit into a 6-4-3 double play to end the frame and we would go to the bottom of the 9th with the A's coming up to hit trailing 4-3 and Kenley Jansen coming on to try and close it out for Boston. Jansen retired Seth Brown on a routine fly ball to Duran in LF for this 1st out. JD Davis was up next and Jansen tried to come inside with a cutter to start the at bat and Davis was able to yank it deep down the LF line and the ball had just enough to get over the wall for a game tying solo HR as Jansen blows the save and we are tied 4-4. Jansen would get the final two outs and this game was headed to extra innings with the score tied up at 4-4. Rafael Devers connected for his 2nd HR of the game in the top of the 10th giving Boston a 6-4 lead. Dany Jimenez replaced Muller and recorded the final two outs and the A's would come up in the bottom of the 10th needing two runs as they trail 6-4. Alex Cora stuck with Jansen to begin the bottom of the 10th and he recorded the 1st out by striking out Noda looking on a nasty cutter. Gelof battled to a full count before grounding out to Story and the A's were down to their final out with JJ Bleday due up. Jansen would run a cutter in on the hands of Bleday who hit a lazy fly ball to O'Neill in RF for the final out as the Red Sox grind out a 6-4 win in 10 innings avoiding the sweep

                        Hey TNK,

I just want to say that thank you for your work.

I've been using your slider for years and always enjoyed.
Every year, I'm little worried that you may not show up,
                        but here we go again!
Really hope that you keep doing this for years to come as well.

Again, just come to say thank you!

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE

                            Game #8 of Season

Boston Red Sox (5-2) @ Los Angeles Angels (4-2)
Pitching Matchup – Kutter Crawford vs Griffin Canning

The Red Sox move on to LA for the 1st game of a 3 game series with the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium. The Red Sox come in to the series at 5-2 while the Angels are 4-2. Kutter Crawford starts the opener for Boston while Griffin Canning gets the start for Los Angeles

The Red Sox pushed across runs on a pair of sac flies by Trevor Story in the 1st inning and Jarren Duran in the 2nd inning while Kutter Crawford was sharp early on the mound for Boston recording 3 K's in the bottom of the 2nd and we would head to the 3rd inning with the Red Sox leading 2-0. The Angels bats came alive in the bottom of the 3rd as Rendon and Trout each picked up a RBI and LA would load the bases with 1 out before Crawford made a big pitch getting Drury to ground into a 5-4-3 inning ending double play to send the game to the 4th inning tied at 2-2. The Red Sox took the lead back in the top of the 4th when Enmanuel Valdez crushed a slider from Canning 444 feet for a solo HR to RF putting Boston up 3-2. The Angels answered in the bottom of the 4th when Logan O'Hoppe squared up a high fastball from Crawford and belted a 432 foot solo HR to CF tying the game 3-3. Rafael Devers continued his hot start to the season with a solo HR to CF leading off the top of the 5th to put Boston up 4-3. Triston Casas doubled with 1 out and Tyler O'Neill followed with a rocket to CF that carried just over the wall for a big 2-run HR opening up the lead to 6-3 and knocking Canning out of the game as Jose Suarez came in from the Angels pen to take over on the mound. Valdez made a nice diving stop on a ground ball by Trout in the bottom of the 5th and Crawford put up a scoreless frame to send the game to the 6th inning with the Red Sox leading 6-3. Suarez pitched a scoreless top of the 6th while Crawford got some help from Story who made a great diving stop and strong throw to retire Hicks and had 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th when he tried to put away Mickey Moniak with a fastball up and in but Moniak was able to hit a high fly ball that was hooking down the RF line and it would stay fair coming down just inside the foul pole for a 2-run HR to pull the Angels within a run at 6-5 and knock Crawford out of the ball game. Justin Slaten came on and blew a 96 mph fastball past Neto for the K to end the inning and send the game to the 7th with Boston holding a 6-5 lead. Robert Stephenson pitched a scoreless top of the 7th while Slaten returned to the mound for the bottom of the 7th and retired Rendon, Schanuel and Trout in order for a big 1-2-3 inning sending the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 6-5. Stephenson struck out the side in the top of the 8th and Chris Martin came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Boston. Tyler O'Neill was injured when he dove to try and catch a foul ball off the bat of Ward leading off the bottom of the 8th and Wilyer Abreu would replace him in RF. Ward would foul off 8 straight pitches to stay alive before Martin left a sinker over the plate and Ward yanked it down the LF line for a solo HR tying the game up 6-6. Aaron Hicks singled with 1 out and Jo Adell came on to pinch run but he would be thrown out trying to steal second base on a strong throw from McGuire for the 2nd out. Martin would strikeout O'Hoppe to end the 8th and we were headed to the 9th inning with the score tied 6-6 and Matt Moore making his way in to pitch for Los Angeles. Casas drew a 1 out walk but Moore came back to K Abreu and get Yoshida to pop out ending the frame and the Angels would come to bat in the bottom of the 9th with a chance to walk off with a victory. Joely Rodriguez came on for Boston and pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 9th to send the game to extra innings with the score even at 6-6. Rafaela led off the top of the 10th with a fly ball to deep CF allowing Yoshida to tag and advance to third base with 1 out. Moore recorded a huge K of Valdez before walking McGuire to put runners on the corners with 2 outs. Jose Cisnero replaced Moore on the mound with Duran coming up and Devers on deck. Duran was sitting on a first pitch fastball and got one low in the zone that he was able to drive deep to RF sending Moniak racing back and the ball hit off the scoreboard just above the yellow line for a huge 3-run HR giving the Red Sox a 9-6 lead. Kenley Jansen came on to pitch the bottom of the 10th and started with a K of Schanuel for the 1st out. Mike Trout dropped a flare in down the RF line and he would race into second base with a RBI double making it 9-7 and bringing the tying run to the plate for LA with 1 out. Jansen came back with a huge K of Ward on a filthy slider bringing up Brandon Drury with the Angels down to their final out. Jansen would record the save as he struck out Drury swinging on a nasty cutter to end the game and give the Red Sox a 9-7 win in 10 innings

                            GAME NOTES
                            * The Red Sox find a way to win another tight one as they were tied 6-6 with the Angels after 9 innings and Jarren Duran was the hero as he hit a 3-run HR with 2 outs in the top of the 10th and Kenley Jansen would close it out to record his 3rd save

                            * The Red Sox improve to 6-2 on the season while the Angels drop to 4-3 on the season

                            * Jarren Duran had a big night for Boston as he went 2 for 5 with a HR & 4 RBI. Duran is now hitting .313 with 2 HR & 6 RBI on the season. Boston also got home runs from Tyler O'Neill (3) and Enmanuel Valdez (1) in the ball game

                            * Rafael Devers hot start to the season continues as he went 2 for 5 with a solo HR and has now hit 8 HR in 8 games to begin the season and is hitting .297 with 8 HR & 11 RBI

                            * Mickey Moniak went 3 for 4 with a HR (1) & 2 RBI for LA while Logan O'Hoppe (1) and Taylor Ward (2) also homered for Los Angeles

                            * Tyler O'Neill left the game due to injury when he hurt his wrist on a diving attempt at a foul ball. The Red Sox dodged a bullet though as O'Neill did not suffer any breaks or ligament damage and is expected to only miss a day or two with arm and wrist stifness

                            * The Red Sox and Angels will play the 2nd game of this 3 game series tomorrow. Garrett Whitlock will be on the mound for Boston while Reid Detmers gets the start for Los Angeles

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE

                                Game #9 of Season

Boston Red Sox (6-2) @ Los Angeles Angels (4-3)
Pitching Matchup – Garrett Whitlock vs Reid Detmers

The Red Sox and Angels prepare to play the 2nd game of this 3 game series coming off an extra innings thriller last night where Boston defeated Los Angeles by a score of 9-7 in 10 innings. The Red Sox will have Garrett Whitlock on the mound while Reid Detmers gets the start for Los Angeles

Reid Detmers and Garrett Whitlock were both sharp early on and the game was scoreless through 3 innings and we would head to the 4th inning with the score tied 0-0. Detmers struck out the side in the top of the 4th and was up to 7 Ks in the game while Whitlock retired the side in order in the bottom of the 4th sending the game to the 5th inning tied 0-0. Detmers recorded his 8th K by striking out Reyes to end the top of the 5th while Whitlock made quick work of the Angels in the bottom half of the 5th and we would head to the 6th inning with the score still 0-0. The Red Sox would open the scoring in the top of the 6th when Jarren Duran led off with a single before coming home to score on a RBI single with 2 outs by Triston Casas to give Boston a 1-0 lead. The Angels put two men on with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th but Whitlock would freeze Drury with a sinker away for a called strike three for his 6th K sending the game to the 7th inning with Boston leading 1-0. Adam Cimber took over on the mound for LA beginning the top of the 7th and gave up a lead off single to Rafaela before hanging a slider to Connor Wong who launched a 2-run HR to LF making it 3-0. Whitlock recorded his 7th K in a 1-2-3 bottom of the 7th to send the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox up 3-0. Luis Garcia retired the side in the top of the 8th while Whitlock returned to the mound for the bottom of the 8th and retired Neto and Rendon for two quick outs before Nolan Schanuel singled to put a man on for Mike Trout with 2 outs. Alex Cora came out to the mound but would stick with Whitlock to face Trout and he would get him to hit a fly ball towards left-center and Duran would make a running catch to end the inning and send the game to the 9th with Boston leading 3-0. Bobby Dalbec led off the top of the 9th with an opposite field solo HR as he drove a 96 mph sinker the other way to RF to extend the lead to 4-0 and Jose Cisnero replaced Garcia on the mound. Cisnero would record the final two outs of the frame and the Angels would come to bat trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the 9th. Isaiah Campbell came on to pitch the bottom of the 9th with a four run lead for Boston and struck out both Taylor Ward and Brandon Drury for two quick outs and the Angels were down to their final out with Aaron Hicks coming to the plate. Campbell had two strikes on Hicks who fouled off some tough pitches to stay alive and battle to a full count before grounding out to Casas at first base for the final out and the Red Sox win 4-0
