Pitching Matchup – Walker Buehler (2-1, 3.48 ERA) vs Tanner Bibee (3-0, 2.97 ERA)

      RECAP
Tanner Bibee and Walker Buehler were both through 2 scoreless innings and Bibee retired the first two batters in the top of the 3rd before Jarren Duran singled and Rafael Devers followed with a rocket to deep CF over the head of Angel Martinez for a RBI double giving Boston a 1-0 lead. Austin Hedges recorded the Guardians first hit of the ball game in the bottom of the 3rd but Buehler would get through the inning and send the game to the 4th with the Red Sox leading 1-0. Bibee and Buehler continued to pitch well throwing scoreless frames in the 4th & 5th innings sending the game to the 6th inning with Boston up 1-0. Bibee pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 6th while Buehler retired the side in order striking out Nolan Jones for his 7th K and has allowed just 1 hit through 6 innings and we would move to the 7th inning with Boston leading 1-0. Bibee retired Trevor Story to begin the top of the 7th and would exit as Paul Sewald came in from the Cleveland bullpen to take over on the mound and would record the final two outs of the frame keeping it a 1-0 game. Buehler returned to the mound at 70 pitches to begin the bottom of the 7th but was tiring as Garrett Whitlock and Brennan Bernardino warming in the pen and Buehler would hang a curveball to Jose Ramirez who launched a solo HR to right-center leading off the inning and tying the game 1-1. Buehler retired Carlos Santana for the 1st out of the inning and Garrett Whitlock would come in to take over on the mound. Whitlock would retire Manzardo and Arias to get through the inning with no further damage and we would head to the 8th inning with the score tied at 1-1. Sewald pitched around a single by Refsnyder in the top of the 8th keeping the game tied 1-1 and Whitlock returned to the mound and Angel Martinez led off with a ground ball to the right side but was robbed of a hit on a diving stop and throw from his knees by Kristian Campbell for the 1st out. Brayan Rocchio reached when he grounded to Bregman at third base but his throw pulled Gonzalez off the bag. Whitlock came right back and got Hedges to hit the ball on the ground to Story at SS starting an inning ending 6-4-3 double play sending the game to the 9th inning with the score tied 1-1. Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase came on to pitch the top of the 9th and Devers just missed a go ahead HR as he flew out to Martinez in CF who caught the ball on the warning track for the 1st out. Alex Bregman followed with a liner to LF for a single with 1 out and Wilyer Abreu would single up the middle to put two men on with 2 outs for Kristian Campbell. Clase would get out of the jam as Campbell grounded out to Santana at first base for the 3rd out ending the frame with the score still tied 1-1 and Cleveland would come up to bat in the bottom of the 9th with a chance to walk off with a victory. Whitlock retired the side in order in the bottom of the 9th and was through 2.2 innings of relief and has retired all 8 batters faced and we were headed to extra innings with the score tied 1-1. Clase returned to the mound and the Red Sox failed to score despite the extra innings runner beginning the inning on second base as Martinez made an excellent running catch to take away a base hit and RBI from Carlos Narvaez to end the top of the 10th and Cleveland would have a chance to walk off with the victory in the bottom of the 10th. Whitlock returned and retired Santana on a pop up making it 9 up 9 down since entering the game. Jose Ramirez was the extra innings runner and Kyle Manzardo was at the plate when Ramirez took off and stole third base just beating the throw and tag from Narvaez to Bregman and the Guardians had the winning run just 90 feet away with 1 out. Unlike last year, you increased the ball speed by one notch. Is there a particular reason? To me it seems too fast like this, especially the fastball...

The Guardians answered with 2 outs in the bottom of the 1st when Brayan Bello left a sinker over the plate to Jose Ramirez who launched a solo HR to RF tying the game 1-1. Logan Allen was pitching well for Cleveland holding the Red Sox to 3 hits through 5 innings while Brayan Bello had limited the Guardians to 2 hits and struck out Rocchio for his 6th K ending the bottom of the 5th and we would move to the 6th inning with the score still tied 1-1. Smith returned to the mound and retired the side in order in the top of the 8th while Bello returned to the mound at 89 pitches to begin the bottom of the 8th and issued a lead off walk to Rocchio who moved up to second base on a sac bunt by Schneeman bringing up Steven Kwan with a runner on second and 1 out. Alex Cora came out to the mound and brought in Brennan Bernardino who retired Kwan on a ground out to Campbell at second base as Rocchio moved up to third base. Nolan Jones came to the plate and hit a fly ball deep to RF but Refsnyder made a nice running catch to end the frame stranding Rocchio at third base as Bernardino does a nice job out of the pen to escape the jam and keep the score tied 1-1. Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase came on to pitch the top of the 9th and Rafael Devers led off with a liner to right-center in the gap for a lead off double. David Hamilton came into the game as a pinch runner for Devers representing the go ahead run and Alex Bregman followed with a rocket off the wall in LF just missing a HR by inches as he gives the Red Sox a 2-1 lead with a RBI double. Bregman would come in to score an insurance run on a RBI sac fly to RF by Refsnyder making it 3-1 and Jakob Junis replaced Clase on the mound with 2 outs and recorded the final out to send the game to the 9th inning with the Red Sox leading 3-1. Aroldis Chapman would come on to pitch the bottom of the 9th looking to close the game out and record the save for Boston as the Guardians have Ramirez, Santana and Manzardo due up. Chapman recorded 2 quick outs blew a 98 mph fastball past Ramirez for the 1st out and Santana would ground out to Bregman and the Guardians were down to their final out. Chapman would blow a 99 mph fastball past Kyle Manzardo for the final out and the Red Sox win 3-1

            GAME NOTES
            * The score was tied 1-1 in the top of the 9th when Alex Bregman put the Red Sox up 2-1 with a RBI double and the Guardians would come up trailing 3-1 and Aroldis Chapman would slam the door in the bottom of the 9th retiring the side in order to record the save

            * The Red Sox take 2 out of 3 from the Guardians to improve to 20-10 while the Guardians fall to 14-13 on the season

            * The Red Sox were led by Alex Bregman who went 2 for 4 with a double & 1 RBI while scoring 2 runs and Trevor Story who went 1 for 4 with a double & 1 RBI

            * The Guardians offense came on a solo HR by Jose Ramirez who went 1 for 4 with a HR & 1 RBI and Ramirez is now hitting .302 with 9 HR & 20 RBI

            * Brayan Bello was making his 2ns start of the season after throwing 7 shutout innings in his 2025 debut last outing and Bello would pitch 7.1 innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits with 1 walk & 8 Ks but did not factor in the decision. Bello no has a 0.63 ERA through his first 2 starts of the season

            * Aroldis Chapman pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 9th to record his 11th save and lower his ERA to 0.66 on the season

            * Logan Allen pitched 6 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits with 1 walk & 3 Ks and did not factor in the decision

            * The Red Sox will have an off day tomorrow as they travel across the border into Canada to play a 3 game series with the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre in what should be a tough AL East battle as the entire division is at .500 or above on the season and Toronto is currently in 2nd place in the AL East sitting 3.5 games behind the 1st place Red Sox. Garrett Crochet gets the start in the opener for Boston while Bowden Francis gets the start for Toronto to open the series

            * There is a lot of excitement for Game #2 of the series as they Red Sox will activate Lucas Giolito who will be making his Red Sox debut after an injury in spring training last season ended his season before it even began after signing with the Red Sox in free agency. Giolito is finally healthy and has looked good in his minor league rehab starts and will finally take the mound in a Red Sox uniform and hopes to strengthen the back end of the rotation for Boston who finally has all 5 members of the teams planned rotation healthy and a rotation of Crochet, Houck, Buehler, Bello and Giolito stacks up against just about any other teams rotation . The Red Sox will send Luis Guerrero back down to AAA Worcester to open up a spot on the active roster for Giolito and Sean Newcomb will move to the bullpen after doing a solid job filling in the back end of the rotation to start the season

TNK – MLB 25 BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
                    Game #32 of the Season
Boston Red Sox (20-40) @ Toronto Blue Jays (16-14)
Pitching Matchup – Lucas Giolito (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs Chris Bassitt (2-1, 3.72 ERA)

                    RECAP
The game was tied 1-1 heading into the 5th inning as Lucas Giolito and Chris Bassitt were both pitching well early before the Red Sox pushed across 4 runs in the top of the 5th and the Blue Jays responded with 2 runs in the bottom half and we would head to the 6th with Boston leading 5-3 . Alex Bregman would launch a 2-run HR in the 6th inning and Rafael Devers hit a 2-run HR in the 8th inning to blow the game open and we would head to the bottom of the 9th with Boston leading 10-3 and Liam Hendriks on the mound in his 2nd inning of relief. Toronto would get a pair of solo HR off Hendriks as Andres Gimenez and Vladimir Guerrero each took Hendriks deep but Hendriks would come back to strikeout Santander to end the ball game and the Red Sox win 10-5

                    GAME NOTES
                    * The Red Sox have taken the first two games of the series after winning 10-5 and will look to complete the 3 game sweep tomorrow

                    * The Red Sox win their 3rd game in a row improving to 22-10 while the Blue Jays fall to 16-15 on the season. The Blue Jays are now 5.5 games back of the 1st place Red Sox as Toronto has slipped from 2nd place two days ago all the way to last place in the AL East . The Baltimore Orioles are now in 2nd place at 4.5 games back with the Rays and Yankees each 5.0 games back

                    * The Red Sox were led by Rafael Devers and Alex Bregman who both had big nights at the plate. Devers went 3 for 5 with a double, HR & 4 RBI and is now hitting .301 with 12 HR & 32 RBI on the season. Bregman went 4 for 5 with a double, HR & 3 RBI and is now hitting .

                    * Jarren Duran went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and stole 3 bases in the ball game for Boston and Duran is not hitting .323 on the season with 10 stolen bases

                    * The Blue Jays were led by Vladimir Guerrero and Andres Gimenez

                    * Lucas Giolito made his long awaited Red Sox debut after signing with Boston in free agency and then missing all of 2024 to injury after
he was injured in spring training. Giolito would wind up pitching 5.1 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks & 4 Ks in his first start in close to two years and would earn his 1st win in a Red Sox uniform

                    * Chris Bassitt pitched 4.1 innings allowing 5 runs on 9 hits with 1 walk & 4 Ks taking the loss and falling to 2-2 with a 4.59 ERA on the season

                    * INJURY* - Triston Casas left the game with a knee injury that occurred while he was running to second base on a RBI double in the 2nd inning. The Red Sox got bad news after the game as Casas has suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in his left knee that will require surgery and will likely end his season.

                    * ROSTER MOVE * - The Red Sox will call up Abraham Toro from AAA Worcester to replace Casas on the active roster and Toro will share the duties at first base with Romy Gonzalez for the time being as Boston will see if they can get adequate production from the position while they explore the trade market to see who is available and at what cost. The Red Sox are also considering how to solve the matter internally with two of baseballs top 10 prospects in OF Roman Anthony and SS Marcelo Mayer tearing up AAA and ready to make their MLB debuts very soon.and their arrivals could open up the possibility of someone like Trevor Story or Rafael Devers becoming a first baseman

                    * ROSTER MOVE * The Red Sox have activated Connor Wong from the injured list and he will return to the lineup after missing most of April with an injury and the Red Sox have sent Blake Sabol back down to AAA Worcester

                    * The Red Sox and Blue Jays will wrap up this 3 game series tomorrow night at Rogers Centre with Boston looking to complete the 3 game sweep after the first 2 games of the series. Tanner Houck will be on the mound in the series finale for Boston while Jose Berrios takes the mound for Toronto

                      Game #33 of the Season
Boston Red Sox (22-10) @ Toronto Blue Jays (16-15)
Pitching Matchup – Tanner Houck (1-0, 3.69 ERA) vs Jose Berrios (3-0, 3.69 ERA)

                      RECAP
The Red Sox opened the scoring in the top of the 3rd when David Hamilton singled before stealing second base and coming around to score on a RBI single by Ceddanne Rafaela giving Boston a 1-0 lead. Tanner Houck was pitching well early as he retired the first 11 batters he faced before walking Anthony Santander with 2 outs in the bottom of the 4th but he would come right back to retire George Springer on a fly ball to Rafaela in CF ending the 4th inning and we would head to the 5th inning with the Blue Jays still looking for their first hit and the Red Sox leading 1-0. Carlos Narvaez came up with runners on the corners and nobody out in the top of the 5th and grounded into a double play but Abraham Toro scored making it 2-0. The Blue Jays recorded their first hit in the bottom of the 6th as Daulton Varsho led off with a single and scored on a RBI single by Nathan Lukes cutting the deficit to 2-1. Boston extended the lead to 3-1 on a RBI single by Kristian Campbell in the top of the 6th and Houck got Springer to ground into an inning ending double play in the bottom of the 6th sending the game to the 7th inning with the Red Sox up 3-1. Nick Sandlin pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 7th and Daulton Varsho took Houck deep for a solo HR leading off the bottom of the 7th cutting the Sox lead to 3-2. Alejandro Kirk singled to RF.putting the tying run on with nobody out but Justin Wilson came in from the bullpen and retired the next 3 batters to send the game to the 8th inning with Boston leading 3-2. Yimi Garcia took over on the mound for Toronto and retired the side in order in the top of the 8th while Justin Slaten came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Boston with Bo Bichette, Vladimir Guerrero and Anthony Santander due up for the Jays who were trailing 3-2. Bichette led off with a slow ground ball up the middle into CF for a single putting the tying run on base with nobody out. Slaten came back with a huge K as he struck out Vladimir Guerrero for the 1st out. Anthony Santander was up next and Slaten would get him to hit the ball on the ground to Campbell at second base to start an inning ending 4-6-3 double play and we would head to the 9th inning with Boston leading 3-2. Jeff Hoffman came on to pitch a 1-2-3 top of the 9th for Toronto and the Blue Jays would come up to bat in the bottom of the 9th trailing 3-2 with Aroldis Chapman making his way in from the bullpen looking to close it out and record the save for Boston with Springer, Varsho and Kirk due up for Toronto. Chapman blew a 99 mph fastball past Springer for a K to record the 1st out and then froze Varsho who struck out looking at a nasty slider and the Blue Jays were quickly down to their final out with Alejandro Kirk coming to the plate. Chapman would reach back and blow a 99 mph fastball past Kirk as he strikes out the side and the Red Sox win 3-2 to complete the 3 game sweep of the Blue Jays

                        Game #34 of the Season
Minnesota Twins (17-15) @ Boston Red Sox (23-10)
Pitching Matchup – Brayan Bello (1-0, 0.63 ERA) vs Joe Ryan (2-1, 3.60 ERA)

                        RECAP
The Red Sox and Twins were scoreless through 4innings as Brayan Bello was pitching well for Boston and Joe Ryan had retired the all 12 Red Sox hitters he faced through his first 4 innings of work on the mound for Minnesota and we would head to the 5th inning with the score tied 0-0. Bello pitched a scoreless top of the 5th for Boston and Ryan retired Wilyer Abreu on a ground out leading off the bottom of the 5th to make it 13 straight retired to start the ball game before Trevor Story registered the first Red Sox hit of the night with a shot in the gap to right-center that rolled to the wall and Story would slide in safely at third base with a 1 out triple. Abraham Toro followed with a fly ball to deep LF scoring Story on the sac fly to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead. Bello and Ryan pitched scoreless frames in the 6th to send the game to the 7th inning with Boston leading 1-0 and Bello would retire the first two batters in the top of the 7th before a single by Brooks Lee and ground rule double by Carlos Correa put runners on 2nd & 3rd with 2 outs for Minnesota with Ryan Jeffers coming to the plate for a huge at bat. Red Sox pitching coach Andrew Bailey paid a visit to the mound to over the plan with Bello as Boston had Garrett Whitlock and Brennan Bernardino warming in the pen but would stick with Bello to face Jeffers who was 1 for 2 on the night. Bello and Jeffers would battle to a full count as Jeffers laid off a tough slider away with 2 strikes that could have been strike 3 to run the count full to 3 & 2 before Bello froze Jeffers with a 95 mph fastball at the letters for a huge K to end the threat and keep the score 1-0. Ryan returned to the mound for the bottom of the 7th and retired the side in order as he has held the Red Sox to just 1 hit in the ball game but the Twins find themselves trailing as we head to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 1-0. Bello was at 75 pitches through 7 innings and returned to the mound to begin the top of the 8th and struck out Royce Lewis to begin the frame. Jonah Bride came on to pinch--hit for Kody Clemens and lined a single to CF putting a man on with 1 out. Alex Cora came out and would bring on Garrett Whitlock as Bello leaves the mound to a standing ovation from the Fenway Park crowd. The move paid off as Whitlock came in and recorded back to back Ks of Harrison Bader and Byron Buxton who both chased a pair of nasty sliders low and away as the Twins fail to score and the Red Sox lead remains 1-0. Griffin Jax took over on the mound for Minnesota and the Red Sox would add a big insurance run as Trevor Story led off the with a single and would come in to score when Connor Wong lined a ball in the gap to right-center with 1 out for a RBI double as Story came all the way around to score making it 2-0. Ceddanne Rafaela came up with 2 outs and hit a ground ball up the middle for a RBI single into CF scoring Wong to extend the lead to 3-0. Aroldis Chapman came on to pitch the top of the 9th with Trevor Larnach, Ty France and Brooks Lee scheduled to hit for the Twins with Carlos Correa due to follow if Minnesota can get a man on base and make things interesting. Chapman started the inning by striking out Larnach on a slider before blowing a 99 mph fastball past France and the Twins were down to their final out with Lee stepping to the plate. Lee hit the ball on the ground to Story at shortstop who fielded it cleanly and threw across to Toro for the final out and the Red Sox win 3-0

                            RECAP
The Red Sox had a 3-1 lead before Brooks Lee took Garrett Crochet deep for a solo HR to cut the Red Sox lead to 3-2. The score remained 3-2 into the 8th inning where Crochet would return to the mound and Ty France would lead off with a single to begin the top of the 8th. Dashawn Keirsey came on as a pinch runner for France and Alex Cora would bring on Garrett Whitlock to take over on the mound. Christian Vazquez was up next and lined a ball in the gap to left-center scoring Keirsey all the way from first base for a RBI single tying the game 3-3. The Twins had the go ahead run in scoring position with 1 out after Lee bunted Vazquez into scoring position but Whitlock would record a big K of Willi Castro for the 2nd out bringing up Jonah Bride with 2 outs and a man in scoring position. Bride would come through as Whitlock left a sinker over the plate and Bride would drive it high off the green monster in left-center for a RBI double giving Minnesota a 4-3 lead. Whitlock retired Carlos Correa on a ground out to end the frame but the Twins now had a 4-3 lead. Griffin Jax retired the Sox in order in the bottom of the 8th to send the game to the 9th inning with Minnesota leading 4-3. Liam Hendriks pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 9th for Boston and the Red Sox would come up to bat in the bottom of the 9th trailing 4-3 with Twins closer Jhoan Duran coming on to try and close it out for Minnesota. Duran retired Rafaela on a routine fly ball to RF for the 1st out. Rafael Devers was up next and got a pitch that he was able to get the bat on and would hit a towering fly ball deep to CF sending Buxton back and the ball would just clear the wall into the Red Sox bullpen for a game tying solo HR tying the score 4-4. Duran would retire the next two batters sending the game to extra innings with the score tied 4-4. Dashawn Keirsey led off the top of the 10th with a liner down the LF line scoring Bader to give the Twins a 5-4 lead. Vazquez knocked in Keirsey with a RBI sac fly to RF making it 6-4. Rafaela made a great running catch on a drive by Correa to save two runs and bring the top of the 10th to an end with the Twins leading 6-4 and the Red Sox coming up. Duran remained in the game and struck out Toro for the 1st out and Hamilton would fly out to Buxton on the warning track in CF and the Sox were down to their final out. Duran blew a heater past Narvaez for the final out and the Twins avoid the sweep taking the finale of this 3 game series 6-4 in 10 innings
