Re: SOTS 2018 plans and help request

I wish I could find where the hell it was said on the stream. I I heard watched it live and caught Ramone saying it, but how he said it was all very good so it sounded like sounds of the show was going to be even better this year with more space.

I thought it was the presentation stream but I can't find it there, maybe it was the little things, frustrating to find, and surprising no one else mentioned or heard it. Unless I completely dreamed it

First off, thank you so much Lowlight and Cujo for the incredible work you guys put in. I'm so excited to hear you guys will be going at it again this year. SOTS makes this game 20x better than it already is, all thanks to you guys.

Secondly, I did hear Ramone or someone mention SOTS in what I think was the Little Things stream, if not then Presentation. It was super subtle and very minimal, they didn't elaborate on it much. I can't remember what was said however. I do remember them saying (i believe in the Presentation stream but then again it might have been Little Things) that their sound guy did a lot of work with stadium sounds in game such as the Astros train in Minute Maid and others. I remember them saying this last part when in the stream someone hit a Home Run playing as the NYY in Yankee Stadium and you could hear the horn going off in the background if that stirs anyone's memory. I hope all that I just said is accurate, just going off what I think I remember. SOTS was definitely mentioned in one of the streams somewhere though.

At the 25:00 mark they talk about some changes for SOTS in The Show 18.

          Sweet thanks.

Basically now you can have different sounds for the 3 different presentation packages. That’s pretty dope actually. I could have a mlb.tv package a rogers Sportsnet package and a fox sports package basically then. What I like mostly about that is if you play all 162 games like I do it will make things way less stale in the long run.

The other thing I get from this is that I’m 99% sure everything else will be exactly the same or he would have said something. It doesn’t look very hopeful we are getting more space.

That is pretty cool with the themes. Hopefully we can edit all three, including the MLB Network one. And yeah... no mention of increased space... that could suck really bad. Again, forcing us to load only the teams we play. And the cheers and yells need a ton more space!

(Longtime SOTS and files from OS user, but first time poster. Also, longtime admirer of the hard work you sound guys put in to these quality projects.....)

Sorry if this has been already answered elsewhere, but it doesn’t seem to have been.

It seems like in an effort to add more stadium realism, the guys at SDS have added a lot more real sounds—-and my concern is duplication. For instance, the Yankees HR sound files always started with the horn mixed with some short celebration song, and ended with the 8-note chime that seemed to play as the batter crossed home plate......with the horn now being added in game to now always play by default, will the HR files now all be stripped of this to avoid 2 horns being played at the same time? Or worse, slightly off and just loud enough to muddle everything.

My guess is to prevent this each track would have to start with around 10 seconds or so of measured silence to account for the in game track to play, then pick up as the horn leaves off.

Additionally, Minute Maid Park and any other stadium that they include HR sounds for would have to also likewise be adjusted.

You guys are great at what you do, and I’m sure will find a work-around for it, I just wanted to shine a light on it now because it seems like it’s going to be a large ongoing factor.

              Thanks!

I’m not worried about it. If they added a bunch of authentic stadium sounds and all we need to provide is the music then it really isn’t that hard to do. I had to use my limited music editing skills to make some of the blue jays stadium sounds last year and it was a pain so this is probably a good thing

Any sounds we add for certain events like HR or RBI sounds overwrite the stock sounds they have. For instance the in game horn and bells for the Yankees that San Diego Studios won't include the song unless they have the rights to it. For us, it doesn't matter and will be included in our packs. So any track that has music on it will be accurate in our packs, maybe not so much for in game sounds. Plus ours are way better anyway. 😉

Excited to see how that works with the themes... we can now customize for networks like YES, MLB, and ESPN. Should be a lot of fun. Also tons more work. 😂
