Indeed. I wonder if Trout will be my Julio Franco.

And I wonder how many HR he'll have lol

Angels Fall to Padres in World Series
Padres Win Games Six and Seven on Road

The Angels will have to regroup and shake off a heartbreaking loss in game seven as they prepare for the offseason.

The Angels were down 5-3 in the 9th, looking to keep their World Series hopes alive. Luis Arreguin, picked up in a trade midseason, hit a 2-run HR off the bench to tie the game at five and force extra innings.

The two teams battled to the 12th inning when the Padres struck another blow. Nick Webre, in his only hit of the game, hit a 2-run HR of his own to give the Padres a 7-5 lead.

Padres reliever Carlos Betancourt left no hope of any more miracles as he struck out the side in order to make his Padres the 2033 World Champions of baseball.

"It's a bitter pill. We've experienced losing at this stage before, but it never gets easier. Credit to the Padres team for fighting on even after our dramatic, bottom-of-the-9th home run. They didn't let our crowd get in their heads and we blinked first. That's baseball and they deserve the win, " Moulin commented.

        July 1 2019 Update

        Code:
        Overall Record: 50-29
        June Record: 19-6
Division: 1st place NL East (+5)
        Wild Card: N/A
        Team MVP so far: [B]Yangervis Solarte[/B], .316/.429/.607 | 16 HR | 48 RBI | 3.5 WAR
        Team Cy Young so far: [B]Chris Bassitt[/B], 8-1 | 2.91 ERA | 1.32 WHIP | 99.0 IP | 1.4 WAR

        BEAST MODE

This team is shocking pundits all around baseball. Sure, they were predicted to finish in 1st place at 92-70 by BNN, but nobody took that literally. And why would they for a 2nd season expansion team? Well, the club entered June a couple games up on the Braves and proceeded to play stupid good baseball (19-6) in June. The Knights are sitting pretty at 50-29 and are 5 games up on the 2nd place Braves.

If there was any downside at all to Carolina's phenomenal June, it was injuries. Michael Brantley is proving naysayers correct by spending quality time on the DL. Zach Britton joined him there with a strained hammy in mid-June. On the final day of June, big bopper Jose Abreu also went on the shelf with a hamstring strain and is expected to miss 2-3 weeks. Young outfielder Harrison Bader is seeing time in LF while Brantley remains in absentia; Joe Jimenez is getting the save opportunities in Britton's stead; and the club found Dustin Ackley in their minor league system to stopgap at 1B--with Yangervis Solarte getting some work there as well.

        CAN'T STEAL FIRST BASE

Which is why the Knights emphasize getting on base at a healthy clip. Carolina scored an NL-best 154 runs in June, mostly powered by a lofty .379 team OBP. It seems that jamming on the "2-take pitch" option continues to be a winning strategy for skipper Bobby Cox. Even when taking the bat off their shoulders, Carolina batters have been good. With a .458 SLG% in June, the team out-slugged every NL ball club aside from the Chicago Cubs.

        PITCHING STAFF HOLDING ON

The starting pitching wasn't exactly excellent for the Knights, but the bullpen has been hot. A 2.57 bullpen ERA and a .215 batting average allowed were among the better marks in the league for the month of June. Really opportunistic of the pitching staff considering that staff ace James Paxton (8.10 June ERA) is struggling and closer Zach Britton is on the DL. Chris Bassitt continues to be oddly effective as his stat line now includes an 8-1 record and 2.91 ERA in 16 starts. Marco Gonzales has been quite good in his 2nd tour of duty with the club as well. Gonzales was a waiver claim last season from Seattle, then dealt back to Seattle as part of the trade package for Paxton, then claimed on waivers again and inserted into the rotation to take the demoted Ross Stripling's spot. Gonzales maintained a 3.52 ERA in three June starts for the Knights. And this guy can hit--he's batting .250 for Carolina after winning the Silver Slugger award last year.

        THE DRAFT

The downside to an unexpectedly solid inaugural season last year is the Knights had just the 17th overall pick in the amateur draft. After doing a bunch of diligence with lead scout Travis Miller checking out Twitter histories and such, Carolina saw a lot of their targets gobbled up before they could pick.

Despite that, the club was pretty content to get potential 2-way player Bobby Witt Jr. with their first round pick at 1-17. And even more content that he signed for a way-under-slot $650K. Witt is solid-average across the board as a batter, but with plus power potential and plus-plus defensive skills at SS. As a pitcher, he's 92-94 MPH with fastball, curveball, and change up. The curveball is his best pitch. He has some serious mound talent and projects to be a back end starter. Maybe mid-rotation if the stars align.

The Knights took catcher CJ Rodriguez in the 2nd round out of Mater Dei High School in California. Rodriguez has fringe-average to solid-average skills as a batter, but a plus outlook defensively at catcher. Can never have too many irons in the fire at catcher in the minor leagues. Rodriguez's slot value was $950K and he signed for $230K so that savings tho.

Carolina once again used its strategy of shooting for the moon in the 3rd round, but it backfired this time. They selected best available, but impossible signability, high school pitcher Ben Gretter. Gretter asked for "something significantly more than $5,000,000" and the club decided oh well, we have an extra 3rd round pick next year!

Rounding out the top 5, potential 2-way players (3B/RHP) Gregory Veliz and (RF/RHP) Nick Maldonado signed for $190K in the 4th round and $150K in the 5th round respectively.

The lefty-hitting Veliz could see time at a bunch of positions--he can probably handle any position except for catcher and middle infield. Veliz has a big arm, a plus hit tool, average power, average speed, and a bit of a strikeout problem. He's also 93-95 MPH off the mound with 3 plus to plus-plus pitches (fastball, curve, change). It's pretty open as to whether he ends up pitching or position playing. He might be the most likely player in the Knights' organization to do both.

The righty-hitting Maldonado is seemingly as versatile as Veliz and could see training at 6 different defensive positions. He's a plus defender, has solid-average power, average speed, and is near average in other offensive tools. Unlike Veliz who has plus stuff, Maldonado is much more likely to end up a full-time position player due to his [far] below average pitching profile.

          Japan's Best Pitcher Gets Posted

Shojiro Hatakeyama is by far the most dominant pitcher in Japan right now. The former ace of the Chiba Lotte Marines comes off winning the pitching triple crown for the second consecutive year, posting 7 WAR after an 8 WAR season the year prior.

Finally nearing the end of team control, Hatakeyama has been posted by the Marines as they have little hope of retaining him.

"They can't keep him so they will post him for the posting fee. It will be interesting to see what kind of interest in generates, " an analyst commented.

Hatakeyama is a knuckleball pitcher, and he throws the old-school knuckleball. The kind of Wakefield and Hough, back before the "new" knuckleball that Dickey made popular. What's also interesting about Hatakeyama is that he does not have a fastball listed. Instead, only a curve and a change are his other pitches.

"I don't know if that will play in our league, but I guess we'll soon find out, " Smoltz commented, "I just think it's going to be hard, even for a knuckleball pitcher, to not have a fastball to fall back on or change speed on some level with."

Indeed, it looks like MLB hitters will see what they can do with this Japanese arm sooner than later.

Angels Win Big Battle for Hatakeyama
            Analysts Divided on Worth

Whether or not analysts like the Angels making a push to get Hatakeyama depends on which side of the Pacific that analyst is on it seems.

The deal is for 8 years with a total value north of $240 million. Several teams were reportedly involved, with the list growing until the Angels jumped the bidding aggressively.

Analysts in Japan or who follow the NPB closely seem to be in favor of the Angels grabbing Hatakeyama.

"This is a true ace-level arm and he should be at least #2 quality in the American major leagues. He's getting better every year and he'll be playing on a top contender so he'll be motivated even more, " a Japanese analyst spoke via interpreter.

Analysts on this side of the Pacific are more mixed. Some feel like the Angels were fine on pitching, which is a fair point. The team was first in runs allowed and have what many consider the best staff in baseball as it is.

"Sure, he [Hatakeyama] is probably good, but what do the Angels need with him, especially to the tune of about $30 million per year average salary?" one analyst spoke on a local sports radio show, "Seriously. What even is this team doing right now?"

Others, though, point to the fact that #1, #6, and, depending on which Mavity shows up, #2 are all vulnerable.

"The Angels were carried by the middle of the rotation, and that bit them in the playoffs. While Kahng is arguably a top arm stuck in the middle ranks, the other two [Harriston and Poydras] are unproven, and that probably was part of their downfall, " a local analyst commented.

Fans in Japan are ecstatic that Hatakeyama got picked up and the Angels fans, on both sides of the Pacific, are overjoyed at the signing.

"Can't wait to go see his first home start, " one family spoke, "We saw Ohtani. We saw Sakai, and now we'll see Hatakeyama!"

                    Hahaha maybe so!

He actually signed for $44 million/yr with the Reds.

Can't believe a team actually gave him that kind of money.

                      2034 Angels

BNN has the Angels at 103 wins, the total the team posted last season. The duel at the top between them and the Cubs is expected to continue as the NL's expected best team is slated for 101 wins.

The story is the same: the pitching (and defense) will lead them. New face Hatakeyama is expected to fit right in and add to the trio BNN loves, Mukai, Kahng, and Harriston. The four of them are expected to be the tip of the spear that will thrust the Angels to the top of the division.

The bullpen, however, has undergone a makeover. The Angels could not convince Esteban Bonilla to return to the club and the team parted ways with Benno Hendriks via a trade.

In their place comes Nobuhiko Hayashi and Jim Hamilton. Hayashi joined the team as an IFA this offseason while Hamilton made his way through the system. Both have their share of question marks. Hayashi's biggest one is his age as at 33, he may already be starting to slip, while Hamilton's clubhouse personality is proven to be golden, it is unknown how well he'll pitch when given the chance.

In somewhat of a surprise, Jarod Fidge and his 4.98 ERA return as long reliever. Perhaps this is another clubhouse personality consideration as Fidge is loved by his fellow bullpen mates.

On offense, Sakai will again have a lot on his shoulders. He's the only hitter expected by BNN to do anything resembling a top performance, expecting another 50-HR season. BNN does recognize the potential in how the rest of the lineup plays as Moulin's hyper-aggressive style is well proven at this point.

"You don't doubt it until it falls apart at this point. He does everything 'wrong' from a sabermetrics standpoint, but his team produces more runs than it should consistently, " Mark DeRosa commented, "You have to attribute that to the manager.

The farm has seen some movement as well. Four prospect made the jump from High-A to AAA, two of them being CF Tomita and 1B Guardado, the two prized hitters of the Angels system.

...Or used to be. Guardado went from being 34th to not ranked in Baseball America's top 200 prospects. Ranked within the team's own pipeline, Guardado is still a respectable 11th, and the team's 8th best hitting prospect and only 1B prospect of note in the entire system.

"I think the disconnect is the profiles the two kids [Tomita and Guardado] are going up against. Tomita is a centerfielder, is expected to stick there easily, and his potential for pop and the usual contact-slasher type hitter is what is expected from the position. Guardado, however, has a similar profile...but as a 1B/DH with little likelihood of playing anywhere else. That doesn't look as good from those spots in the lineup, even if Guardado probably will flourish given how the team's offense runs, " a local analyst commented.

To be sure, the Angels are still eagerly awaiting the arrival of Guardado and Tomita both. Some say Guardado could be good enough right now to make the majors. The Angels will likely want to see how he handles to leap across two levels of the minors before throwing him against major league pitching.

Arturo Molina and his potential C/P two-way playstyle continues to be on track. He'll work in High-A for the time being, a promotion from Class A, where he worked last season.

Joe Vega, RF and last year's compensation round pick, emerged to hit #84 on the top 200 rankings. He hit .919 in rookie ball last summer. He'll start the year there again, but could very well move up before the summer season begins.

New scout Yuki Saito's first find is a big one. Scouted in her home nation of Japan, she presented SP Tetsuya Uehara to the club. He ranks at #167 to start the season. She also found a funky Dominican starting pitcher with six pitches named Esteban Sauceda. He is unranked so far by Baseball America.

Overall, the Angels farm slipped, with Poydras coming off the list, as expected, and the unexpected fall of Guardado from the rankings. The farm dropped from 18th to 21st. This is why Ms. Saito was brought in - to try to reverse that fall over time.

First baseball sim/game in many years. This game is awesome!

Started my first season as Mariners affiliate in the AZL as a manager just getting my feet wet and feeling the game out. Ended up going 38-18 with a first round loss. Heart breaker with icing as I was a win away from Manager of the Year.

I was promoted to manager of the Class A Short Season affiliate Everett AquaSox. Another close season as I was a win away from the playoffs at 39-37. We had some nice streaks until the GM promoted my best players

I was promoted again to manage the Class A Clinton LumberKings. We had some solid prospects and went on a nice 18 win roll to finish 97-43 and a championship. Also won Manager of the Year and had the MVP of the league.

Skipped the next level affiliate and was promoted to manager of the Arkansas Travelers in the Double A league, inheriting the championship team as well as prospects that I have watched develop and grow since the first day of my career. Cant wait to see what this bunch does! Hopefully repeating and getting another promotion into the big leagues. To be continued...

I was looking it up on the internet but was only finding stuff for older games of OOTP and not the current one. Thank you for anyone that can help me!!

So far Miami is off to a 2-10 start. Which is expected since the talent on this team isn’t very good. Debating to ship off whatever remanding talent there is off and start a complete rebuild from the ground up.

My player rating scale settings are all 1-100 with potential and overall ratings off. Scouting accuracy is low.

Injury settings are high (realistic modern day) and hide injury rating.

AI trade settings are hard and favor prospects. AI evaluation set at 60/20/15/5

I was looking it up on the internet but was only finding stuff for older games of OOTP and not the current one. Thank you for anyone that can help me!!
I use 20-80, scouting accuracy High (still highly dependent on budget and what ever uncertainty factors are in the game)

I have OVR and POT on, also 20-80

Injuries High with injury rating shown (I think injury setting means more than the rating), and there's of course a lot of randomness with injuries)

                                Trading is Hard and Neutral.

Dev budget I had it at 4 mil I think, inflation has pushed everything up so it's 5.3 Mil now.
