Re: ASB 2004 update tonight on IGN
I checked out those screenshots...since when is Gehrig a righty?? I am sure it was a reversed image or something...hopefully!
Anyway, I do hope the sorted list of bg fixes and improvments recommended by the user group on these boards that was sent to PJ (by Peter) last spring has had an effect on the game. It all comes down to gameplay. Very few of us care what type of unis they created for the Cooperstown guys, especially when every other outfield catch would have made Willie Mays jealous!
I am looking forward to this title most of all...I just hope they did the right thing...they were so close last year...

Re: ASB 2004 update tonight on IGN
This game has evolved so much over the past 3 versions that I'm betting the next one will rock. I just played a game of ASB2002 the other night... man, that was painful. Took almost an hour and 15 minutes to complete, no check swings, no franchise mode, etc. Great game at the time, but it's pretty clear that they've taken some huge strides since then. 2004 can only be better.Comment

Re: ASB 2004 update tonight on IGN
Let's hope that this will be the case Guru. The one thing I really like about ASB is how deep the menus are and options in game (presentation).
I remember spending a good 30 minutes or so (the first time)on ASB 2002 just going through the menus and options. They have it pat down in this regard.
Let's hope the gameplay is tweaked to perfection, and if so, there is no doubt that this game will be the baseball game to own next year.Comment

Argh! Same old tiltable batting cursor. THIS ISN'T CRICKET!!
I'm curious to see if they've toned down the over the shoulder catches for this year.“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.” - Lewis BlackComment

Re: ASB 2004 update tonight on IGN
whats the big deal if theres a cursor? you have the option to turn it off, or at least you did in last years version. what im more worried about is like you said, did they tone down the willie mays catches and also, did they fix the problem with no balls going to right field.Comment

I'd like to see some difference in pitch speeds. They all seemed too fast to me, which made it too hard for me to hit."I've Altered The Deal..."Comment

I couldn't agree more. I am an old fart with aging reflexes and the pitch speed in WSB was *much* better for me. In ASB 2002 all the pitches did move too fast and there was not much visual difference betwen fastballs and offspeed stuff.
While it is great that ASB 2003 will have XBox Live support, that won't do me much good if I can't hitComment

Re: ASB 2004 update tonight on IGN
This game looks pretty graphically tight. However, it will be tough to get me away from the WSB series. I thought that ASB left something to be desired last year and i would like to see a stronger effort. These screens are a positive preview though.Comment

Re: ASB 2004 update tonight on IGN
Just out of curiosity, what did you like in WSB that made it better than ASB? Was it the pitch speeds, or the icon batting, or the Willie Mays catches? I think those are the top 3 complaints I've heard so far.
Did anyone ever get in contact with ASB Producer about that stuff?Comment

Re: ASB 2004 update tonight on IGN
I liked WSB better too. Only reason is I really enjoyed playing defense for some reason. I will give all the games a good look this year though before buying one.My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: ASB 2004 update tonight on IGN
BaseballGuru, I sent a list compiled by Capa about what we wanted to see fixed, added to ASB 2004 to PJ Snavely. Hopefully he received it and looked at it. If I recall correctly all the points mentioned above were indicated in the list.
The thing I liked about ASB 2003 was how deep it was in terms of stats, roster management, and how well the franchise mode was done. New stadiums popping up over the years in franchise mode. Now how briliant was that by Acclaim Sports! Just adds that much more to the game.
Let's see what else they have up their sleeves in ASB 2004.Comment
