I hope ASB is really tweaked and cleaned up this year, because I really want to like it. I really didn't like playing ASB 2002 very much because the fielding sucked and it was impossible to get a called strike on the cpu. Last year's game was improved, but I still didn't have all that much fun with it. I still have a lot of issues with the fielding "engine".
That is one thing I preferred in WSB. You could actually field a grounder, then hit the throw button and everything was pretty seamless. I really don't care for having to press the throw button right before the guy fields the ball just to get a seamless animation. It just seems too mechanical to me. Turning double plays in both games pretty much sucked, so if they fix that, it would also be appreciated.
I also hope they can make some changes to the pitch speeds. I like the fact that they are a fairly realistic representation of real pitch speeds, but there is not enough of a difference between the pitch types, as someone else posted earlier. A curveball should have a little more "loop" to it than it has in past ASB games. True, not every pitcher throws a big, sweeping hook like Barry Zito, but the speed still needs to be a little slower.
I do love the ambience and feel of ASB, though. If they just improve what I mentioned above, and cut the Willie Mays style catches by at least half, I will enjoy the game a lot more.
