Thanks for the suggesstion but it's so much nicer having a graphical interface and being able to watch things unfold on the field.

Originally posted by ktulu22Wow now that is what it is all about.. So much fun having a challenge rather than walking to the playoffs with 120 wins. Sounds like a very fun season. I woul dbe very interested in checking out your stats. Where is this franchise section that you speak of? I would also be interested in hearing your thought on the fielding cam and the slow pitch vs fast pitch. I have suspected that there may be a difference in gameplay depending on the camera angle that you use. I know the pitch speed makes a difference. Ive been playing my expansion franchise pretty steady and my team is still doing quite well. I will have to post an update before the all star break.
Manage Mode
Pitch Speed: Slow
Batting: 3-D Cursor (I don't see those swings at pitches way out of the zone)
Pitching, Batting aids: off
Fielding: Auto
Ball glow: off
Baserunning: classic (I also think the baserunning is better on classic instead of normal)"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

It's called Out Of The Park Baseball and it's completely about being a manager/owner of a baseball team. You can get packs that everything is MLB related, or you can build your own baseball world.
It's pretty sweet... and perhaps you guys would like it."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Very promising. I might have to run out this weekend and get this game. I'm sure that I can find it used somewhere for less that $10. Did you find that you had too many K's in the game?Comment

Using the default settings there were too many K's. The key is pitching the pitch speed to slow and changing the batting style to 3D cursor. Makes a ton of difference. I am like 11th in the NL in strikeouts so far.Comment

Also, were there any show stopping franchise bugs? IE. unrealistic trades, bad progression, poor FA decisions by the AI, bad drafting?
Honestly, I don't care if I'm playing with 2004 rosters and outdated graphics. If I can get an honest manage only mode experience, with the franchise to go with it, I may never play another baseball game again.Last edited by philliesfan980; 04-08-2006, 04:59 PM.Comment

Originally posted by philliesfan980Cool, that sounds promising. I'm assuming that there are no differences between the PS2 and XBOX right? One doesn't play better than the other, does it (in terms of manage only).

Just picked up a copy of ASB 05 for $9.99 at my local Gamestop. Thanks for all the hard work everyone has done to get this game playable from a manage only mode perspective. Hope to be playing this one for years!Comment

Re: My All Star Baseball 2005 Manage Only Mode Franchise/Case Study
I still play this game regularly. I have continued to tweak the settings and player attributes and it really is a great game of baseball.
Finished that season with the Pirates at 93-69 - good for 2nd in the Central and a wild card berth. Beat Arizona 3-1 in the wild card round then played the powerhouse Cubbies in the NLCS who won 108 games in the regular season. True to form, they dominated the first 3 games and all looked bleak. But we scarped our way to 3 straight close victories to force a game 7 at Wrigley. Unfortunately Prior completely shut us down with a complete game 3 hit shutout to end our season. Very entertaining season, very fun game.Comment

I still play this game and I really enjoy it. I am curious though about how you manage only guys feel about the pitcher fatigue in the game. I love to play manage only baseball games, but I quickly became frustrated with this one when my starters were regularly gassed by the third or fourth inning. I switched over and began playing it manually and my starters didn't throw as many pitches and were able to make it to the 6th or sometimes seventh inning. I've played it manually ever since and I think it plays a great game of baseball.
Have you guys noticed the pitchers regularly getting fatigued early in manage only mode? and if so have you found a way to work around it?Comment
