    1) I am strictly a manage mode player. I have found that by setting pitch speed to slow and the hitting to 3D Zone, the results are more realistic. With it on the manage mode default settings there were way to many strikeouts and too few HR's. I am just curious as to why this is, and does it really matter what batting setting you choose?

    2) When pitching in manage mode, I am unable to call for the C to try and throw a pickoff to a base. The CPU is able to, but I can't get it to work. Is this broken, or am I missing something?

    3) When my pitcher is pitching, I notice that his pitches are either coded red, yellow, or green. I have noticed when they come in to a game, they are either green or yellow and quickly go to red once he pitches. What do these colors mean?

Thanks for any input and I apologize if you weren't involved in the development of the game.

-I've got to say, manage-only was never the focus of the team. We knew a lot of people on the boards requested it, so it was tacked on at the end of the project. Actually, I believe our designer Wes Mailman's dad like this idea too, which also influenced this mode getting it into the game. As far as I know, the hitting settings in this mode would not have made a bit of difference.
note: Although Wes's name and cyber scan head were used for the fake Barry Bonds in the game, he has never knowingly used steroids.

-I think this was overlooked since so little testing time was spent in manage-only. If anyone would have pointed it out in the forums we'd have fixed it though; we really did pay attention to requests.

    -green=strong, yellow= average, red=weak

My ex-ASB designer friend and I are working on a baseball title or two for PSP, PS2, x-box which should be announced during E3 next month. We also worked on the 'playTV baseball' operationsports reviewed recently, it got an 8 out of 10. We plan on playing ASB tomorrow night and have agreed to sim a Braves franchise until they make it to the world series. I will play as the other team, no matter who it is, best of 7. In the Polo Grounds, of course.

Can you shed some light on the title? This has me very intrigued.

Actually they should just repackage ASB with a better pitching system. Location with cursor and 1 button mash to pick the pitch is kinda boring IMO. Hopefully these new titles will have One Pitch mode also, that really helps with getting accurate pitch counts.

          I could deal with that

I hope you aren't working on the Slugfest series. That would take all the wind out of my sail.

I am hoping its a new title with the ASB characteristics.

Re: If anyone plays ASB 05 post comments, questions, or what-nots in here!

Well, I am 3 days away from the Trade Deadline(man, haven't had much time to play this game). I have taken a 2.5 game lead on the Astros by winning 11 of 13 after the All-Star break. The divisional leaders thus far are:

              NL East - Atlanta
              NL Central - St.Louis(me)
              NL West - Colorado
AL East - New York(missed playoffs last year)
AL Central - Chicago (best team in baseball)
AL West - Anaheim (most competitive division)

I have hit some rough times in these 13 games. Matt Morris who is my ace, is now out until the post-season after getting hit by a line drive. He suffered a broken orbitial socket. So I brought up Jamey Wright from my AAA squad and he just lost his game to the Padres.

Albert Pujols, who is on course to win his second straight NL MVP, has been put on the DL for a strained back. He suffered this same injury earlier in the season, but I didn't put him on the DL. So now I have Daryle Ward playing first, but he is stinking both in the field and at the plate. Please August 9th hurry up.

Anyhow, that is where I stand. I don't know that anyone else is playing. If so, how is things going. If not, then well, I guess I have this thread all to myself. Haha.

Yes please tell us which title this is! At least AFTER E3, if you can't spill the beans beforehand. I think a lot of people would be interested in whatever game you are working on.

                  Countryboy,
Sounds like you have a good campaign going there. I have played through my opening series with the Mets, but work has been so busy lately I haven't really played the XBox much in the last 3 weeks or so. I'll update when I do though...

Yeah, I am trying. The Astros are helping me out because they have lost 10 straight.

I just grabbed Randy Johnson from the D'Backs for Isringhausen and Danny Haren. Hopefully this will help out my rotation that is struggling right now. Isringhausen was really off this year and since it was the final year of his contract, I decided that it was time to deal him instead of holding onto him until the end of the year. I actually converted Jason Marquis to closer and he is doing a fine job.

I have two months left as I have just started August. Hopefully my hot streak continues and when Pujols gets off the DL, I get even hotter.

Please post your dynasty stats and all when you get a chance, I am curious as to how others are doing that still play the game.

Well, I got Pujols back from the DL but he is struggling right now. I have a week and a half left in August and I continue to dominate the NL Central as the teams chasing me can't put together back to back wins.

Randy Johnson was great in his first outing with the Cardinals against Houston. He pitched 8 innings of 4 hit ball and a shutout. I pulled him for a pinch hitter and had Marquis close the game. BTW Marquis is a heck of a closer in this game.

My bullpen took a hit with Kiko Calero pulling his rib cage. He will be out until the first part of September. Also, as crazy as this may sound, I am seriously considering letting Joe McEwing(.312 avg, 4 HR, 37 RBI) be the everyday RF because Reggie Sanders is just not hitting the ball and has made 4 errors in the last 6 games in RF. That is way to many for an OF.

Well, that is all that I have. Hopefully I'll read someone else's dynasty stats and all.

something i notice about this game is that this is the only game that has the right batting stance for barry bonds even if the player is not name b-bonds you can tell is him right away

Very nice to see that people are still playing this game.

I remember last spring purchasing three baseball titles for my x-box and eventually going back to ASB05 for my Cardinals' franchinse I ran during the summer. (I finished 105-57 but lost 3-2 in the first round to the D-Backs and the unhittable Unit, who had two 14K complete game wins against me in the series.)

After I got the x-box 360, I gave my original x-box and all games away, actually only holding on ASB05 "just in case". I then bought MLB2K6 for the 360, and gave it every chance I could to make it my game. Tweaked the sliders till I fell asleep. Then it kept freezing. And coupled with the subpar next-gen animations, I could not keep playing, and especially not a franchise (due to the freezing).

This put me back at square one, and I ran across my ASB05 copy last week. I have re-purchased and x-box, and plan on playing this game for the summer until classes resume.

Only thing I need to figure out it how to make pitching harder. A lot harder. I remember having an ERA around 2.70 as a team in my Cards' franchise at the end on the season. I think perhaps its time to edit all those OF range attributes. Either way, soon I will get back into a franchise on what is still unquestionably the deepest franchise mode any baseball game has offered.
