I disagree.... oh well, I guess we'll see as soon as the games come out. I've always been more than happy with the batting and pitching animations in ASB, though. I think they are easily the most realistic of the bunch.

As long as they fixed the collision detection between ball/player then the additions will be very nice. Now I am boardering on buying 3 games. WSBB,MVP and ASBB.
ASBB is the only baseball game I still own from last year. The only problems I had with last years version was the ball/player detection and AI pitcher not throwing over. These things are claimed to have been fixed. If they are then I will buy it.
Now I just have to find time to play all 3 games.

My only beef with the batting in ASB is it seems that the batters are in their stance (which are incredibly accurate BTW), but when the pitch is about to come, they go into this "generic" stance. It does this with everyone. It's a small beef, but kinda annoying nonetheless. Oh well, it definitely won't detract from this game's value now. I think I will be spending a WHOLE lotta time in the GM's office now anyway
I will probably get High Heat as well, mainly for incredible gameplay. Me and my friends played HH over the summer all the time, and it looks like we will all be getting it again when it comes out, and I am sure since it is HH gameplay, it definitely won't disappoint.Comment

As mentioned earlier, the running back-hand movie looks great. I like the big outfield and the impressive shot of McCovey Cove. Those of you who owned ASB last year know that last year it was just some flat landscape behind the outfield wall, beyond the promenade. Small improvements like this are great and give the game a more realistic feelComment

Can you sign pitching and batting coaches, along with managers in ASB? I don't remember reading it anywhere. There are many more than just 4 batting stances in MVP. There seems to be a different one for every player. ASB is just a bland game. Sure MVP doesn't have a very good franchise mode yet (no actually minor leagues), but it has the best arcade value. If you want power graphics, good gameplay, AND a a good franchise mode, then WSB on xbox is the best way to go.Comment

Care to explain why you feel it's a bland game? Just curious as to why you feel that way.Joshua:

Re: New All-Star Baseball 2004 website is up
Guru, any idea if they will have improved the homer happy nature of ASB. Last year I only had a PS2 (finally have an XBox now) so I was limited to only HH or ASB. I had both and I really liked ASB alot better... My only gripe was that my batting stats were way off. I had to play on the highest level because they other levels were just too easy. But on the highest level I was hitting like .200 with all my players and I was striking out like crazy. But yet, with Barry Bonds, I was hitting like .475 and was hitting at least 1 hr a game. Last year, Bonds was like god in ASB. It got to the point where I would purposely not use the power swing, but even that didn't help. When bonds got contact it was either a HR or a double off the wall...
I am strongly thinking about going with ASB again this year, but only if they've made the batting AI a little more realistic.
Another question I have is that last year, you couldn't move the cursor after you started to swing, something I hear ASB changed from the previous year. I thought that this really made cursor batting hard on the highest level and made it nearly impossible to catch up to the fastball. Any idea what this is going to be like in this years game?Comment
