There is one negative in MVP that right now just bugs me to no end. Now that I'm noticing it, I'm not sure if I can go back to MVP for another season. The problem: Human spray chart. When I am batting, it is virtually impossible to hit the ball ahrd down either line. Most solid hits go up the middle or to either LC or RC. I just think it's a result of the batting engine being so reliant on timing. I really miss shots down the line in MVP when I see them every game in the Show.
Your right it's a timing issue. I hit doubles down the line in almost every game I play. I also have hit both foul poles many times for some very cool HR's. I see it all in MVP. I am glad you like the Show. Baseball gaming is the best.

ea should have sold their batting/pitching interface, imo it's still the best in baseball gaming. the show is a nice game- much better than that damn 2k7, but i still finding myself turning back to my first love

[quote=kingdevin;2982948]I am actually playing MVP NCAA and The Show (I played MVP 05 as well).

Don't you find it difficult to go back and forth considering the pitch speed and meter speeds of the two games? I tried this (because I like both games) and really struggle with timing.

How are you doing it? Have you adjusted the contact slider? I heard that may help in hit variety.

No matter what I try, I simply can't hit the ball hard down the lines. I can hit weak dribblers and bloopers, but everything I hit hard stays well in fair territory. I have seen the CPU do it, so I can only pin it on the hitting engine.

Lately I have been back on the Show. Yes there is a timing issue when trying to handle both games. I've recently worked in some sliders for the Show that have taken that game in another direction (positive). Right now, I am just watching games and getting into MOM mode. The variety that I am seeing now is amazing. If the ps3 version is NOT what I am expecting, I will have the ps2 version as a cushion...

Matt sorry it took so long to get back to your question brother. I do have my contact slider for human set to 45. I have my power set to 5. I see many different types of hits. I play on MVP level. I go down the line the other way on outside pitches a lot. Try to up your contact on Pro level and swing a bit early. Also try turning down the pith speed to -5. That really helped me start to pull the ball. I have 44 year old reflexes.

I wish I could tell you more man. I play about 10 to 15 games a day when I am home. I really miss it when I am on the road. Man I really love this game.

Re: MVP 05 vs. MLB the Show

Let me say this -- after watchin the Show for the past 2 weeks and adjusting sliders, I've got to say that despite not looking graphically as good as 2K7, the motion capture of this game is hands down the best EVER in baseball. Yet, I dont hear anyone really nailing that point when graphics are at issue! I've come up with some slider settings that make this make very realistic for me. If the ps3 version has any issues w/it, it wont even bother me b/c this is the game right now (I didn't even get into the MOM mode..but thats another story). In addition, the slider settings produce a game w/more variety then MVP 05 and I love that game. It just goes to show what sliders can do...

Just got the Show on PS2 so I'm late to the party but the Show is much more realistic and it's not even close. I had to do a ton of tweaking to get MVP to play a realistic game.

With the correct sliders the show for the PS2 is where its at. I also like MVP 2007 NCAA Baseball (with the correct rosters of course).

                        Good point.

As much as I loved MVP, it took about a year and a half to get perfect settings. I actually had to go back to pro, which I never do in sports games, yet.

MVP was the last baseball game that I thought actually captured the feel of baseball. The Show was good, but it just didn't "feel" like baseball as much as MVP did. After playing a game in MVP all I wanted to do was start another one, sometimes in The Show all I wanted to do was finish the game I was in.
