Re: 2K or The Show?
Two Autumns ago the baseball genre was the center of my big decision for getting a PS3 or a 360, I decided to go with a 360 and I still don't regret it.
Both games have ups and downs. MLB2K is definitely too arcadey with it's share of bugs. The Show feels very scripted and I didn't feel like I was in enough control playing it. I'm not a fan of the hitting system in either game (cursor guy here, though MVP's system was fun) and the pitching in 2K games have always been more fun to me, this year looks good as well.
Graphically it's a push to me, I don't see how people think this is a huge landslide in favor of The Show. The signature styles in 2K are much better than in The Show, IMO. 2K nailed it in their basketball games first and it translated to baseball very well. Almost every batting stance in 2K is better than in The Show, IMO.
The past three years I have been completely blown away by The Show for a week or two but then my interest plummeted and I don't know exactly why. The game becomes very repetitive for me way too quickly. A few years ago I bought a PS2 just to play The Show after I was so impressed by it when playing it over a friends house. But for some reason every single year I get very tired of it very quickly. I seem to be the only person who feels that way though.
Even though I'm a 360 owner I'd say the average fan should go with The Show just because of the bugs that 2K usually has (lineup, postseason bugs, etc)."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
