The info I found from last year's game says:

Triangle + Square = To LF Stands
    Triangle + O = RF Stands

I have yet to test it out...

EDIT: Tested it out... Pretty pointless. You just see the outfielder start to throw the ball, and then it cuts away.

Re: PYS5 - FAQ, Manual help, etc..

One Page English Manual... Version 2... Now has Stardom Mode... Very condensed Stardom Mode. If you need clarification, just ask.

      Same deal as before:

      1. Print Front.
      2. Turn Page Over.
      3. Print Back.
      4. Fold as needed along dotted line.
      5. Fold up completely and tuck into game case when not in use.

And if you haven't tried stardom mode, you need to.

EDIT: CRUD! There was a mistake... I'll upload the correction in a few minutes... One person downloaded it, they'll have to download it again.

Okay... A few mistakes... And a clarification...

          Here's Version 2.1, and remember:

          1. Print Front.
          2. Turn Page Over.
          3. Print Back.
          4. Fold as needed along dotted line.

According to Google Language Tools it's:

            Benny performance
            Use the four left-R1 + L1

            Ramirez's performance
            Use the four right-R1 + L1

            ZURETA performance
            Four-way controller below the R1 + L1 + (probably means DOWN)

            Guts pose
R1 + L1 + on the four-way controller (and I'm guessing UP, by process of elimination)

It also says Pro Yakyu Spirits 4 in the first paragraph, not 5... So I'm not sure.

Thx,the tips seems to cover both versions,if this Excite translation is anything to go by:

"It introduces the tip of the performance after the home run also in professional baseball spirits 4 with.
If each code is input when taking it to the bridge, and turning round the base, this can be done.
Note it because all are useless if it is not pushing simultaneously"
              .
              Benny's performance

R1+L1 + left of cross key

              Ramirez's performance

R1+L1 + right of cross key

              Performance of Zrata

R1+L1 + cross key the under

              Heroic pose

I hit a bit of a speed bump in Stardom Mode...

I had been using X to bypass all of the dialog, etc. And even choosing the first option when there was more than one. At one point the agent (I think it's an agent, maybe a GM) talked to me after a game, and gave me an option... So I pressed X... And I think it was a position change.

For the next few games the lineup had me in CF instead of at SS... And the hitch is that my player didn't have the ability to play CF (no grade at that position), so he'd get subbed out immediately even though he was in the starting lineup. For the next few games this would happen, and sometimes I'd start at SS too... But when I'd start at CF and get subbed out, I'd lose an opportunity to get points.

When given an option the first one has text in a different color, and the second is a short phrase which I'm guessing is a rejection of the first option.

Unfortunately I'm thinking this mode may be too in depth for play without any translation, and I haven't even got to the off season yet...

But I'm going to give it another go...

For now my solution is going to be to reject anything offered to me after games by the guy in the suit (you also talk to managers and coaches who wear hats).

Re: PYS5 - FAQ, Manual help, etc..

I found some potentially relevant information from sportsgamerblog.com.

On that blog you'll find a short guide for last year's MVP Mode (the equivalent of this year's Stardom Mode). The guide shows the kanji for the following:

                      Position/Standpoint:立場
                      Goal/Target:目標
                      Annual Salary:年俸

I would at least jot down the first "Position/Standpoint" and then reject (choose the option WITHOUT the orange highlighted text) anything with those characters, to possibly avoid the position change problem I mentioned above.

That blog also mentions that they're going to post some "Pro Yakyuu Spirits 5 documents" soon. Hopefully they're regarding Stardom Mode. I started that mode again and am thoroughly enjoying it.

I also recommend that if you play Stardom Mode you save often, so that if something unexpected happens that screws up your player somehow, you can just exit and go back to your previous save. Just be sure to pay attention when you're given an option to choose from, and if it indeed messes things up, then choose the other option the second time around.

Heh heh... I hit a HR with my stardom mode player and tried the L1+R1+d-pad-down while rounding the bases, and my guy did a pretty cheesy pose after crossing home plate.

I tried it and it works in this year's too... Though I have only tried it in Stardom Mode. I don't know if it works in team play too.

I posted earlier that I was playing a game where Tuffy Rhodes ran over the catcher, but that was with assisted running on. So maybe if you have assisted running ON the take out slides, etc. are handled by the CPU.

Is anyone still playing this game?! Or have you all made the exodus to GTA IV???

Oh yeah... Another tip for Stardom Mode...

It really is to your advantage to play in the field rather than sim past it, because you're given 120 points after each game if you do so. Without those 120 points it's a serious grind to improve your player.

I recommend the option to play in the field only when runners are on, which you can set under the Stardom Settings from the Stardom Mode main menu.
