Re: Official MLB Power Pros 2008 thread!

I had one of those.."man this game is cool" moments ealier.

I was playing the phillies in that dang launching pad of theres.

there's 2 out, Im up 3, Johan Santana on the hill with 2 on up against a Ryan Howard.

I try to throw a fastball off of the plate, but catch a bit too much. I could tell he didnt get a full cut at it, due to the sound of the bat, but to my horror, he launches a HIGH flyball, to left field.

The ball was just hanging and hanging, and hanging...and drifting towards the LF foul pole. I see Moises Alou, backing up with his back to the wall, and the ball hasnt come down yet.

I'm sitting there going CRAP!! I made a pretty decent pitch and this !@#@ is going to go oppo on me and tie the game.

Just as I finish this thought, the ball FINALLY comes down and drops into Alou's mitt DIRECTLY in front of the foul pole.

    A simple, but awesome sequence.

I tried updating the rosters but its soooo tedius and anoying. For example, after adding a F/A to a team, you can;t delete them from Free Agency -- or so I havent had any luck with it.

Can someone with updated rosters please try that, PM me and I'll see if I can crack the issue?

Also, where do the players go when I remove them? The players I want to go into Free Agency arent going there, but rather, I have no idea where they are... WTF kinda system is this?

Seriously, wtf were these developers thinking? In Arrange the teams are updated, but I go to start a game, and they're not. What's going on?
There's no way to add or delete people to/from FA. You can add people from FA to a team but they will still be there, with the players who are FA's now, I'm thinking about having them on my team and just cut them once the season starts, but I don't think I'll have enough room and may have to settle for them to be on their last teams minors.

How do the ratings work in this game, I've never really understood what an "E" meant in the ratings, how do they go up and down?

According to last years manual D is average for a player. If that's what you mean by that.

            Is a C better or worse than a D?

So after adjusting rosters in Adjust mode, how do I apply it to games? When I start any game, it never has the updated rosters -- even though they're updated when I go to Arrange.

Is there any way to make the computer throw more balls?? It seems like they pound the strike zone a little too much. Thanks

You gotta make sure you are choosing the right teams when you start the game. If you updated a team in arrange mode, then you should show all the teams when you select in exhbition, THEN you should see your arrange teams on the bottom, usually they have the logos with green boxes with a number in the top left hand corner.

Ya, but how do I start a MyLife career with them, I dont see an option.

This is BY FAR the WORST set-up I have ever seen.

You can;t for my life,,,only arrange teams for season and exhibition modes, sorry guy.

The roster edits and having to do changes does suck, it is tedious, it's kind of a bummer in a game that excels else wise.

But the game does offer some of the deepest and best gameplay out there for a baseball game.

I'm thinking about buying this game, but I was wondering how it was played. Is it similar to the WiiSports baseball game just with MLB players?

I guess what I mean is that how you play the game? Is the pitching and batting done the same way? By using the wiimote or whatever its called and doing the motion of what you're trying to do.
