Right now I am playing on expert across the board with pitch speeds on fast and lock on 2 for me and the CPU. I have the pitch cursor and the fielding aid turned off for both me and the CPU.

I have the strike zone's on because I like looking at the hot and cold zones without having to press the start button. I think the CPU throws a lot more balls on expert...any higher in difficulty and you might as well just come to the plate hacking.

I played a little bit of last years game and I agree that this years version is tougher. Last years version I played on All-star, but this years version I am getting the same challenge on expert.

I'm so glad that they will let you change the difficulty level while a season is in progress now.

I decided to turn my pitch cursor back on for the time being because I am still allowing a few too many hits and not striking out enough hitters. I still leave the pitcher cursor off for the cpu though to make hitting for me a little tougher. Even though it seems the cpu throws more balls on the expert level it is still tough to draw a walk...its just a flaw in the game and there is not much you can do about, and thats about the only real flaw imo.

I'm one of those that wish there was a lock on 1.5, because at lock on 2 I seem to hit the ball a little too hard, but at 1, my power is non-existent and I mean NON-EXISTENT.

Re: Official MLB Power Pros 2008 thread!

            My current settings:

            CPU Hitting: Expert
            CPU Lock-on: 1
            CPU Pitching: All-Star
            CPU Running: Normal
            CPU Fielding: Expert
            CPU Pitch cursor: Off

            Human Lock-on: 1
            Human Pitch cursor: On

            Strike Zones: Off
            Pitch Speed: Fast
            Analog control
            Expert pitching
            Pitching view: Behind pitcher

I am loving this game with these settings. The aforementioned lack of walks is a problem but the only other issue I have is that the lock-on makes it a bit too easy to hit HRs. Of course if play without the lock-on I have to turn on the CPU's pitch cursor to be able to hit at all and I don't like to do that because it means I'll literally never strike out. The CPU also homers a good deal with the lock-on so in the end things even out.

Re: Can we get a Settings Thread Going?

I want to play this game but I keep getting stuck going back and forth between Lock-1, Lock-2, no idea where to set the CPU difficulty..

Just wanted to see if there is a consensus , or "most popular" settings for a realistic game. The only thing I feel comfortable with is hitting "lock 1"..all the other options are overwhelming to me...any help would be greatly appreciated. Or if you can direct me to your posted settings (page xx) that would be cool.

                  Thanks!

I think I am going to pick this game up tomorrow. I saw it the other day at the game exchange for 15 bucks. I picked up the show again and I just can't get into it. Can someone explain what success mode is and how it works, or send me a link to it. I can't seem to find a good explanation of it.

Oh and one other question. Do fly balls stay in view the whole time, and hook and slice realistically?

Can anyone tell me how you break up with a girl you are going steady with? I ended up having the actress go steady with me and I want to dump her... no idea how to do it though.

Success Mode allows you to create your own player and start him off in AA ball. If you make it through the season you can advance through to AAA and then hopefully make the bigs. You create your player, pick a position (if you want a ton of action pick a pitcher), select the big league team you want to play with if you make it.

                          Couple of items:

1 - Tons of non-game play required. You have to interact with your team mates, practice, meet girls, buy stuff, solve mysteries, etc. A heck of a lot of text to have to read through to make it a full season
2 - After you have successfully made it once, you can skip a lot of this text and just concentrate on the game play
3 - Save often as you can end up getting a negative attribute (like laziness) and that will screw up your practices big time. When you practice you get points that you can use to increase your skills. These carry over directly to the next simulation mode which is life.

                          Good luck...

I've held off long enough on this game. Now that the baseball season is almost over, I'm going to need my baseball fix for the offseason. I have a PS2 and Wii. Is there any logical reason I should get the Wii version over the PS2 version, since the PS2 version is 19.99? I didn't figure there was, but I wanted to ask first to be sure.

Also, has anyone here updated the rosters and put them online anywhere? I'll probably go through and update for a day or two, but if someone already has, that will be even better.

There is no difference between the wii and ps2 versions, except the use of wii mote in exhibitions which isn't really much.I suggest going with the ps2 version because of cost. I haven't seen any files posted either.
