Re: Official MLB Power Pros 2008 thread!
Does anyone know if we will be able to change CPU settings once a season is started this year?Comment

Great question! I hope the settings in general are a little better to understand this year too. There are some options in the original version that are still a bit unclear to me.Comment

Re: Official MLB Power Pros 2008 thread!
I'm keeping my eyes on Power Pros this year, but I'm torn.
I tried it out last year because, to be honest, I was bored with The Show. But I actually enjoy MLB 2K8 this year and don't feel the need to buy another baseball title.
Then again, Power Pros last year was fantastic. But besides the addition My Life mode (which doesn't interest me much), this year's version looks remarkably similar.Comment

Never seen this game or even heard about it. But I'll p/u this week because of the price, and the last Bball game I got and enjoyed was "The Bigs". Looking forward to it!Comment

Re: the conference call:
I don't think anyone should be surprised that 2k doesn't have a great deal of info. about this one . . . since it isn't their game. My understanding is that their MLB rights basically means they can automatically get in on the action if/when any foreign developer wants to sell an MLB licensed product in the US market.
So 2k gets to distribute a game that is in most respects superior to their own, and all they need to do is make sure that the title is localized for the US at least marginally competently.
None of this is to imply that the game will or won't be great (though I bet it will). Just saying that, unless I'm completely wrong, 2k's actual involvement is very small.Comment

I'm really looking forward to this game. I'm going to btrading in MLB 2k in favor of it, in fact.Comment

Re: Official MLB Power Pros 2008 thread!
I stopped by Gamestop last week to reserve the PS2 version, but they didn't even have listed as "reserveable" if that is a word. I asked why and the manager told me that they stopped reserving ps2 games unless it's a big title (Madden, etc). She said they should still receive a few copies (I hope), otherwise I will have to trot all over town trying to find the game.Comment

I very recently picked up the '07 game, and love it, but I'm starting to question if '08 will make any significant improvements at all. Everything from the screenshots to the $20 price tag makes me think that I'm getting an Opening Day '08 roster update and not much else.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still buying the game (and at $20, it's much harder to be truly disappointed), and I know at least with the addition of a bullpen to warm up pitchers (which was mysteriously missing last year), it will be a little better. All I'm saying is that I don't think anybody should be expecting this Wii/PS2 title to be drastically improved over last year.Comment
