If you tap A repeatedly (Wii obviously) when using normal pitching you'll see the cursor spin a little. Fastballs will be faster, curves will be curvier, sliders will be slidier, etc. Or if you're using expert pitching (which you should be) and you hold A down you'll see the cursor spin fast.

At some point I'll stop being lazy and run a controlled test to see what stamina equates to for minimum effort pitches vs. full effort pitches. My hunch is if you dial every pitch up your guy will last about 60% as long as he would throwing no effort all game.

I use expert level, and was rarely seeing starters make it beyond the 4th.

I too have thought about just upping the stamina of the entire roster. Or if you don't want to do that you could tailor your roster to fit this problem. Have your 5 starters I'd say preferably one setup guy from each side (of course that's not always do-able from the left side) your closer and the rest should be starters who aren't good enough to crack your rotation.

112 pitches just now with Felix Hernandez. He has 165 stamina points ("A" starts at 150). I only dialed him up when I got in trouble.

I still think the big problem is that they didn't take injuries into account much at all for starters. So they may have thrown 100 innings last year in 15 starts but they're still getting the stamina rating of anyone else who threw 100 innings, basically a C or so. Just about every pitcher who is a starter SHOULD be an A or B though and that doesn't seem to be the case.

            Rich Harden has 90 stamina
Good thing I can edit it

Just got 2008 earlier today and just finished my 1st game.

Went with the Dbacks vs Giants. Haren and Cain on the mound.

I lost 2-0, Giants had 6 hits to my 3.

              Haren (me) went 8.2 innings throwing 113 total pitches. 5k 6h 1bb

              Cain (cpu) went 6.1 innings throwing 98 total. 6k 2h 1bb

This was default rosters, no edits. I just set up all the options just like I had it for the previous version. Basically everything All.Star level. Pitching Controls set to Expert.

The key to being able get a strong outing with Haren (or pitchers in general) is how you approach to the pitching commands. The first button press to set the power/effort of the pitch should be nothing more than a tap 90% of the time. I actually lean more towards 95% for starters and let loose (charge up) more often with the bullpen guys.

Just like the previous version of the game Haren didnt start showing signs of fatigue until he hit the century mark or just over. The other thing that helped make that possible was that I was hitting the accuracy mark pretty consistently as well.

Try a full game without "charging" a single pitch and and see if it improves what your seeing from your pitching staff.

I'm starting to think it might be based on the leel you choose. It seems on expert, the stamina works better. Unfortunatly, that is to high a level for me.
