    Re: ASB- Generated Counts

I just started using it last week. I was looking for a challenge and a new twist to the gameplay. Ever since I've used it I haven't been disappointed. No longer do I blow out opponents. Instead, I often find myself behind in games and having to fight back. When I'm pitching, I give more walks and find that I get realistic innings out of my pitchers. Pitchers last longer, usually past the 7th inning but in my last game I only lasted 6 IP because I was getting hit hard by the pesky Seattle Mariners.

When I'm hitting, I draw more walks with guys known for their patience, such as Giambi, Bernie, and Jorge Posada. The games go much quicker, I find myself in games that would have lasted about 1 hour but only end up being 35 mins. Its great when you get 0-2 counts but its also fun when you get 3-0 counts, having to battle with the hitter, finding ways to outsmart them. You still are able to get 0-0 counts and most of the time when I'm hitting I'm ahead in the count.

It's very enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone looking to play a quicker game and still get realistic stats.

      Re: ASB- Generated Counts

I wrote a post last week on my troubles with striking out the computer in ASB04 (X-Box). After getting a few responces, the overall opinion was for me to turn to "Generated Counts"... I'm glad I did as my average "K" total from my starting pitchers went from 3-5 / to 6-11 depending on who was pitching for me. I receive 3-5 walks per game while batting & the times of my game are drasticaly reduced to around 15-20 minutes... I MUCH prefer the generated counts for the statistical realism. But, is it me, or is the computer not as strong a run producer with the generated count turned on? I know that there has been some discussion as to which level the A.I. is toughest on you too... Will the veteran level actually score runs on you easier than while playing on All-star?

just finished my first game using this. the whole game not just 5 innings. i really kept the score down. i won 4-3 in the bottom of the 9th with a error by the CF allowing Kerry Robinson to score. it was a fun game. my one complaint though is that the CPU gets a lot of 3-0 or 3-1 counts. they had 1 in every inning if not more. i on the other hand had 2 the whole game. i did see a lot of 0-2 or 1-2 counts for me though. i had about 12-15 of them throughout the game. i did K 7 though with Prior so that was a lot better than usual.

                  Re: ASB- Generated Counts

I love the generated counts for the most part, I just find it a little frustrating when my pitcher gets a string of 3-0 counts. Of course for every five 3-0 counts I probably get almost as many 1-2 and 2-2 counts, so it does average out quite well. I really enjoy the increased speed of the game in general while using generated counts. I rarely have more than an hour to play the game, so it's nice to get two games in instead of one.

It's funny that the curve was my favorite pitch to hit when I was using exagerrated pitching. Now that I've switched to normal, I can barely touch them.

I still play with Exaggerated Pitch on....however, being in the AL Central, and having the Indians, Tigers, and Royals in my division, I am winning big against them, but have normal games against tougher foes (Yankees, Red Sox, A's, Mariners).

Overall though, I think I need to switch to Normal after this season is over. Hopefully, I can learn to hit the fastball.

I agree with the above though that said that I play with Generated Count on due to its statistical realism...sure, it sucks when the computer comes up and has 3-0 or 3-1 counts, and you come up with 1-2 or 0-2 counts, but hey...

the thing i really liked was that it was a close game finally. i may have to keep using this no matter how mad i get and how much i pound on my chair. its a lot more fun to have a close game than a blow out by the 2nd inning. then the game drags on and on.
