Mind you I have only played the demo from 2k and the full game of The Show.
With that said, I think anyone who has played multiple baseball games would say MLB 2k's pitching this year is easily the best implementation of right stick pitching they've ever used. The learning curve is high, but the reward is equally high. The mechanics are much better this year as opposed to previous iterations. In the past, a bad or failed motion would result in a meatball (pitch down the heart of the plate). Anyone who is familiar with baseball knows that players, when they miss, also miss outside the zone. This year, they do just that.

The motions are similar to what you expect (back/forth fastball, up and outside your throwing arm for a 2 seamer, etc.) and the controller response to the motions are very smooth. You can't pinpoint pitches this year unless your ratings are high, and even then, nothing is guaranteed.
In terms of The Show, "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" is the motto this year. SD Studios has addressed the complaints with the metered pitching and they have loosened up the accuracy a bit. You can't pinpoint your pitches and you WILL miss your spots. I find myself missing pitches right down the plate though a little too much for my tastes. And while this isn't 100% related to pitching, the improved catcher logic allows you to trust your teammate this year behind the plate and put one low near the dirt. This was certainly a much welcomed fix.

Also with The Show, Classic Pitching is offered and seems to be a hit with those stuck on the mechanics refined in High Heat baseball. No longer are you confined to zones, and there is always the added bonus of there being less on the screen when you play, making the Outfield camera angle look a lot more like a television broadcast. Some people believe that this allows the pitchers to pitch "true to their ratings" although that can be argued against.
In comparison, I really like 2k's approach this year. They seem to have taken what their previous development team implemented and almost perfected it. It's smooth, intuitive and really makes you feel like you're working for every pitch. This sort of involvement has added another layer of depth to the cat and mouse game between pitcher and batter. This is what baseball is mostly about, and to see companies keep expanding on this area is why we as gamers should love competition.
What are your thoughts on each mechanic this year? I think we'll have some interesting feedback from those who have played both in some manner. Please keep your opinion constructive and respectful here.
