For me a baseball game has to play well when playing actual games, so if that gameplay isn't there, I just can't get into the game.

MVP baseball 05 is very difficult IMO if you had the right sliders in place. I always am afraid when throwing Jason Bergmann or Colin Balester out there because I struggle to go 5 with them. The fielding, as someone mentioned, is top notch and truly reflects the players attributes.

Also, MVP had the best franchise mode. It is the only franchise mode that truly allows you to run the franchise based on your personal philosophy. You want to increase attendance and fan happiness, you had to offer solid prices, promotions etc. If you believe in spending like the Yankees, it allowed you to do so (but with tremendous risk as you could go bankrupt). As of right now, I am focused on building up my farm system to be more cost efficient in the long term.

On a final note, I love the fact that you can go bankrupt. It simply forces you to make sound financial decisions or you will have to sell your team.

I loved MVP on the PC, loved HH on the PC. Things have come a bit of a long ways since then, but good grief I think most of us had a great time playing these games. One thing that is overlooked is the "fun factor". Looking back I had a blast playing these games. I wonder how some people even have fun these days honestly.

A bad series, I disagree. To each his own.

I remember playin' MVP 05 online with my brother.. It was very fun. We made a couple players and put 'em on our teams and got down to business.

I agree, I would just put the pitching control down and the game would play great, also what they do with the mods makes the game REALLY good

The pitching bothers me. I've been editing the datafile.txt pitching settings and still can't get something I'm happy with.

I'm talking about MVP without the mods, pitching was bad on the console no matter the sliders. And, I don't see the mods improving hitting much.

Hitting was awesome. I loved it. The Hitter's Eye or whatever the hell it was called should be standard in every baseball game. It actually allowed you to read the ball coming in instead of just guessing and hoping.

As far as being a fun game, which is what all games should be at their core, there isn't a baseball game around that can compete with MVP in that department. It was absolutely the most fun baseball game ever.

You can't just limit it to the consoles. The PC version was and is superior and the mods and tweaking most definitely make it a game that is great in all areas, especially versus a human opponent with a good connection. We still have a 4 man online PC league whereby we control multiple teams and there truly is a "fun factor". You actually have to make the pitch and induce strategies like in a real baseball game. Sorry, but your title description of "very bad" is a very bad judgement.

I have to disagree too. MVP 05 was by no means perfect, but it was a solid game and the mods after on PC helped its longevity. The franchise mode for me is still amongst the very best on a baseball game

MVP 05 can't hold a candle to Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2010, but it still was a good game for it's time. The graphics were good for it's time. I have never played the PC version or the mods for that version, I am just speaking in regards to the PS2 version.
