Re: PS3 owners only of mlb the show 12 and 2k12
I second the thoughts of one of the previous posters who suggested that 2K probably won't be back next year with a baseball product. Folks, let's look at this objectively. In what, shape or form did 2K outshine The Show this year in the realm of baseball? I've played both, and it's NOT EVEN CLOSE. The Show really turned things up a notch this year. Last year I thought The Show was a sterile at replicating the real thing. The graphics were pretty good last year. This year, in The Show, the graphics are jaw-dropping. I've been following the real sport of baseball for over 30 years now and I'm not kidding when I say (now, you need a good TV for this) at quite often it appears there is a real game on the television. The graphics in 2K this year are GOOD, but not great. They're really not much improved over last year. Things still look clunky in 2K. I can't put a finger on it, but I should say that 2K still has a lot of jerkiness in the animations. The Show really has smoothed things out. If you like managing your games, and not swinging the bat and throwing the ball, then SCEA listened to its fans and produced a game this year, that out of the box, produces a lot of variety in outcomes. With all the new cut scenes in between pitches, it's just like watching the real thing in broadcast. I'm sorry, 2K, but I think the writing was on the wall last year after SCEA put out a pretty good game. SCEA has a record of consistently (more so than any other sports game out there) improving upon its baseball game. Everybody who truly likes realism in his or her baseball game knew that 2K had a huge mountain to climb. It was so obvious this year with the stuff that 2K's marketing team put out, or lack of, that they had given up the race to SCEA. Folks, there will not be a 2K baseball game next year. 2K has been asked about this, and they have all but admitted that their focus is on other things.Comment

I think they are both good games. The Show is great though. 2k is still really good. I play them both and have fun with both. I just think 2k is kind of lagging in areas. There are still certain things in 2k's game where I'm like wtf and just don't look right. I think as far as fun factor its pretty negligable. I can see where 2k's game is more just pick it up and go nutty with it. It's more relaxing to play it. The show you really have pay attention and get dialed in every pitch, or you are going to get killed. It's like I should be getting paid millions to play that game some times because it does take effort. you really have to be precise with the show.Comment

Re: PS3 owners only of mlb the show 12 and 2k12
Been playing both and to me the show has so many little bugs that it starts being irritating. Huge spins issues with echoing... announcers do sound better than last yr. but 3 games into my season I started to here incorrect stats...I was hearing the mariners lost 8-1 last night.( it was 4-1)...I hear more state bugs as well.
The show has more bugs in general that will turn you off in my opinion... players running through each other is another one.
mlb2k has bugs as well but to me they r not as irritating as the shows.
Overall think of the show as somebody who gets all the publicity but hits .250. It looks great and most everyone already thinks the game is great by the popularity. Think of 2k who gets no publicity and looks rough in some places. However, plays a better game of baseball is overall taps the show out.
Couple things I wanted to add:
player models in mlb 2k have more life to them...the show models feel all the same to me...eventually it gets stale.

I think 2k's game has more bugs though. I just think it plays out better for some reason. It's more oldschool and polished in that regard for some reason.Comment
