I think the devs for The Show are missing the boat. How hard can it be to implement cursor batting and two button press pitching? If they would do that I would pick up the game but the way it is currently constructed I can't go near the boring azz thing.

The Show devs have made it pretty clear that they are not interested in implementing cursor batting in their game. They have stated that they want to limit the amount of control the player has, because they think that player stats and attributes should weigh heavily on the outcome of every at bat. Those of us who play PYS know full well that player attributes factor heavily in our beloved game, while still giving us full control when pitching and batting. At the end of the day, it IS a game, and games are meant to be fun. And I just don't think The Show is much fun. But a lot of people do. They like The Show's gameplay just the way it is, and so that's the way it's going to stay.

We have our game, and they have theirs. I used to wish that Konami could get the MLB license and do an MLB version of their game, or that The Show would start implementing some of the gameplay of PYS, but I stopped worrying about it a long time ago. The chances of it ever happening are slim, and in the meantime, PYS is a great game that I will continue to buy every year.

Missile Command hitting just has no appeal for me.

PYS looks great and moves so smooth. Game just has no appeal to me for a multitude of reasons. I would still buy it though if they were to market it here.

I find the hitting in The Show to be a snooze myself but if you like it good for you. The analog pitching in The Show is a lame attempt at the two button style. All my opinion of course. I liken The Show to playing Uncharted with nothing but cut scenes.

The Show isn't going to change to cursor batting just like PYS won't change to an MLB version. They both do what they do and both games have plenty of fans. The Show sold 750K copies last year while PYS sold 500K. That's not bad considering PYS is sold in a smaller market, doesn't have an MLB license and costs twice as much as The Show! The numbers prove both games are good.

I know Knight was defending The Show and being sarcastic because "comeback code" was mentioned, but there are way more than 7 people here playing PYS. Actually, 7 hardcore players that play the game all year & promote it in the tiny little 'baseball/other' forum is pretty impressive. There are many more casual players who have fun with an occassional pick-up & play exhibition game. Their brief forum feedback is usually the same..."This game is great!"

And numbers will increase since older used versions have finally become affordable for those on the fence. I heard you can find PYS 2010 for around $20 on ebay so if you have any interest at all you really have nothing to lose. Learning about the Japanese players is fun and the animations and special skills really bring them to life. There is a world outside the MLB, just don't expect an English or MLB version anytime soon.

Not a fan of analog pitching myself. I use classic, which emulates the greatest baseball game ever made, High Heat.

Not sure how you got nothing but cut scenes, but whatever floats your boat.

I get that. I personally enjoy the fact the game is more ratings driven than user input driven.

I've always been that way actually. I want my decisions and strategy to matter more than my fast twitch skills.

Agreed. Let's please not turn this into yet another one of THOSE threads. We can talk about how each of us prefer one game over the other and why, without disrespecting those who don't agree with us.

That being said, I find that strategic decisions in PYS are just as important as in The Show. Situational hitting is key to scoring runs. I can't tell you how many times winning a game of PYS has come down to a well-executed squeeze play. And subbing in your best fielders late in the game is an absolute must.

Most do. But am I looking for the status quo here? No I am not. To me that's one of the things that separates the Show from the others, at least for the style of play I am looking for.

That being said, I find that strategic decisions in PYS are just as important as in The Show. Situational hitting is key to scoring runs. I can't tell you how many times winning a game of PYS has come down to a well-executed squeeze play. And subbing in your best fielders late in the game is an absolute must.

RIght, but that's just baseball fundamentals, not really anything to do with what I was talking about when it comes to rating etc.
