    Wow.
Everyting ASB man said is turning this from a certain buy from me, to me wanting to buy the game twice just because the ASB-team deserves it..

Does this mean the Padres won't have their new jerseys? Just curious.

They show the new jerseys in one of the newer videos that came out on IGN. I think he was referring to my question of the Expansion teams. I can live with the jerseys they have, especially with all the new features implimented.

Player Suspensions? WOOHOO! They got ejected in '04, but seeing suspensions will be awesome. This game is shaping up to be an incredibly flexible one. All the things that made you feel trapped in a bottle (so to speak) in '04 are being dealt with and improved greatly. Thanks ASB_man. '05 is at the top of my list.

                  INJURIES.
Last years game didnt have many player injuries while playing the games. Most injuries came when games were simulated. Will the be more injuries in '05?

ASB Man, I want to talk about the hitting engine.

I know you are further evolving a HH style of hitting and that is wonderful since HH IMO has had the best hitting mechanism over the last 5 years.

I want to know how the physics of the ball coming off of the bat will be implemented.

A small shortcoming of HH has been a feeling of computer randomness, where you could hit the same pitch, in the same spot and have 2 different outcomes.

Another small problem was hitters like Lofton, Grudzalaniek, Loretta, etc....hitting opposite field HR's.

Will we see smaller hitters who wait for the ball to travel in the zone and take the ball the other way go oppo a lot?....I know Jeter is the master at keeping his hands inside the baseball and using the small porch in at YS in RF.....but many hitters don't hit home runs the other way.

I know I am asking a complicated and convoluted question....but I am hoping to see a deep rewarding batting interface unlike the "zone hitting" from last year.

If you could take HH batting to the next level and further improve your fielding mechanism(which looks like you have), then I feel your game will be second to none.

Study games like Winning Eleven 7(Pro Evo 3), ESPN NHL series, and see how their ball and puck physics operate....great stuff. I hope you can get to that level...it would be outstanding.

A problem in previous versions has been a feeling of not even hitting the ball....the ball never touching the bat per se....I hope this is completely fixed in your new version.

                              On to fielding:

One thing I didn't like in the IGN video was the SS fielding a "hard" ground ball bare handed and throwing to first.....now this isn't a bad thing for choppers behind the mound or slow rollers....but man that looked way to arcadish.

How about motion capturing or implementing, "the fielders traingle" and bring fundamentals back to the game.

Here is how the fielders triangle works.(RH fielder)

place left foot slightly ahead of right foot....the heel of the left foot should line up horizontally with the toe of the right foot.

bend knees and place back of glove on dirt with arms straight, but slightly bent.

Draw a line from your left heel to your right toe.

Now draw a line from right toe to heel of glove that is in front of you.

Now draw a line from glove back to the left heel...

you should have a perfect triangle....that is the position a fundamental fielder will be in when fielding a ball.

There are 3 steps to fielding the ground ball in a right-left- field, right-left throw motion.

                              1) FUNNEL- as the ball hits the glove the fielder brings the glove along the ground towards the body and the up to the belly. It is important to not bring the glove straight up to the belly because if the ball stays down it can go through the 5 hole.

                              2) CLOSE THE BOOK- as the fielder is fielding the ball the pinky of the right hand should be touching the pinky of the glove. as the ball goes in the glove, close the right hand over the glove, like you are closing a book. This prevents the ball from leaving the glove.

                              3) PLAY THE ONE- As the fileder is fielding the ball his head and eyes should be down on the ball at all times....NOT LOOKING UP. If done correctly any observer should be able to only the top of the cap, not any part of the face. On top of the cap is the button, one button...therefore PLAYING THE ONE. anothe rimportant reason to play the one is so the fileder can see the seems as they filed the ball and change it in their glove so they can throw to first cross-seam rather than throw a with the seam sinker ball.

All of this is done in a RIGHT-LEFT FIELD, RIGHT-LEFT THROW MOTION and take lots of practice.

When done correclty it looks absolutuely beautiful to wacth.

The number one thing to remember when fielding a grounder is to always keep your hands in front....this will help with bad hops and fielding the ball close to the body will increase errors ten fold.

This ASB man will further authenticate an already deep game that is just missing key gameplay elements.

I hope you succeed with 2005, us video baseball gamers eagerly await.

                              teaching.............still fun

video games........I wish my boys would let me play

watching Tottenham vs. Liverpool at White Hart Lane............2004 was a long time ago
