I could'nt disagree more. This is a video baseball game. It should be almost entirely about gameplay. Baseball cards and trivia are pointless. I'm not shelling out 50 bucks to answer trivia questions and play with broomsticks! GET RID OF IT!!!

    The point is this:

No trivia game does not = better gameplay.

The trivia game is an EXTRA. Don't play it if you don't want to.

My wife loves it. It was her favorite thing about the game last year.

I'm no videogame designer myself, but I think that because the trivia is a certain amount of MBs or GBs, and if they use up to their limit, then in a way they could add something else to gameplay if they took it out.

      Again, I'm not really sure.

I doubt that. I think with them using DVD's now, instead of CD's they used on the PS1, and earlier on PS2, they have PLENTY of room. I doubt the trivia game takes up much space anyway.

                  Re: Questions for ASB Man

I want to know how the physics of the ball coming off of the bat will be implemented.
-Same as last year but there's alot more variety in the types of hits and where they go...Thanks for all the input, Pigpen. I will pay the triangle fielder's stance its due attention when we start '06.

Will there be a cutscene of the apple on a Mets HR, for example, or will we have to watch for it in the background as the player is rounding the bases? Also, does Bernie Brewer slide down his slide on a Brewer HR?
-There's a cutscene for the apple in Shea and the train in Minute Maid. We have the animation of Bernie going down the slide but it's not implemented yet so I don't know 100%.

Two questions : how has the menu interface changed (maybe the font is a little larger so it can be read a little easier ?) and [because franchise mode is non-multi-ownership] can you watch other games being played between the cpu - say for instance I want to scout an upcoming opponent I can watch their game being played.
-1)the fonts are a lot easier to read and the graphics are a lot more slick.
-2) can't watch the other games, sorry.

Is the red outline around the ball optional only?
-Yes. The 'Ball Glow' can be turned off.]

Will you be able to see hr's hit into the Bay finally?
                  -No

Will the ball actually land in the fielders glove this year and will the ball hit the bat. Hence, is the vacuum effect fixed and bat and ball collision fixed?
-The ball vaacums and bat/ball contact point are much improved... I hesitate to say 'fixed'. None of the games are flawless in these areas.

Will we be able to turn off the comentary and still here the batter walk up and PA announcer? Last year when the comentary was off we couldn't here the PA or batter walk up.
-I didn't know that happened last year but we'll look into it.

Does this years version still have the baseball cards and the trivia game?
                  -Yes

Will you still be able to send you coach out to the mound?
                  -Yes

Will you still be able to see your pitchers warming up in the bullpen while the ball is in the field?
                  -Yes

What are the things players can get suspended for?
-charging the mound (not user controlled though)

Will the computer offer more trades and call up minor leagurs even if there isnt any injuries?
                  -Yes

Will there be less broken bat homeruns?
-Yes, broken bats happen less frequently. (but now the ball slips out of the batters hands sometimes)

Will you be able to send players to the minors for rehab?
-You can send players down or put them on the DL

I'm sure they're going to make the gameplay as good as they can regardless of whether there's a trivia game as well.
-Yes. Gameplay and Trivia game are unrelated issues.

Baseball cards and trivia are pointless.
                  -False

Don't play it if you don't want to.
                  -True

I doubt the trivia game takes up much space anyway.
-True. Plus, if some of your wives put up with ASB because it has Trivia, there's no way I can justify removing it.
