    Re: Questions for ASB Man

hey ASB_Man is there pitcher warm up before the start of the game warm up on the mound thanks
-You can watch him warm up, but you don't control the pitches.

Does this mean the Padres won't have their new jerseys?
-The Padres and all the other teams will have the correct jerseys for the '04 season.

will you be able to have a 3 or 4 man rotation without doing it manually and switching to your #1 every 3 games?
-not sure yet...I will find out

Will there be new/better double animations in this years game?
    -yes

Will there be any more legends ie. Mantle,Bench,etc...different players from 2k4
    -no
also crowds specific chants ie. tomahawk chop, rally monkey,hecklers,etc...
-we have the chop chant and other specific chants
Is there expanded rosters in spring training and September? Player evaluations during spring training were next to impossible last year because you'd always lose players to waivers. Has this been addressed, and if so how?
-Not yet but we'll try. The main new spring training addition is improving your player attributes.

Everyting ASB man said is turning this from a certain buy from me, to me wanting to buy the game twice just because the ASB-team deserves it..
-As far as the team is concerned, it's not for money...we're making the game we want to play.
Will the be more injuries in '05?
-Absolutely. Right now we're getting 2 a game so we need to tone it down a bit.

Pigpen-we have a lot more variety in the hit types...and the 'zone hitting' is improved over last years. Since it was not the default last year it was overlooked but this time we're getting a lot of good feedback from our QA.

the Vacuum takes alot of the realism out of it, and almost all fun of looking at replays. How much specifically have these areas been improved?
-We pull the ball to the glove now.
As for the glitches, I recently had one where a still of the batter walking up got stuck on one side of the screen for one half of an inning, and you've read of the off-line fielding and such. Have these problems been fixed or looked at for improvement?
-I saw this recently and we're on the case.
The Suspensions have me wondering, will it be random?
    -Yes
Do you have any thoughts on the Europe/UK release date?
-Completely out of my hands. Sorry, cheers, mate!
Are the hitting physics set up for a right handed batter for lefties and righties? IE- swining late with a lefty pulls the ball, and vice versa.
    -Yes
Will the game track longest homeruns during seasonal play? Or track longest homeruns per stadium?
-No, but we have audio calls to say how long a HR went if it's crushed
I was wondering about if the minor leaguers will have stats this year and what if any changes are being made to the MLB draft. Maybe something like college players being more ready than high schoolers. Or maybe Japanese players which were in last years mlb draft on the game being really ready as well as being older.
    -It's still random
Will there be full AAA, AA and A rosters
    -Yes
will you be able to play minor leaguers(even if it is only AAA players) in the games?
    -No
Will there be a September callup with roster expansion to 40 at the Major League level?
-It's planned but not done yet
Will there be alot of trades involving contending and non-contending teams right before the trade deadline?
    -Yes

KungPao- I think your questions have been answered.
Is the gamplay much inproved over last years game, and do the graphics look far better or a little better.
-Yes the gameplay is much improved. I guess the graphics is subjective but I think they look far better eventhough some of the art is the same. It's like we have put another layer of paint on what was there...
"Will there be multiownership in franchise mode ??? -No. Oh well you lost me as a buyer.... "
-We have 20 guys and 8 months, we have to prioritize things...I can definitely see how fun it would be, but I think it would only be for a handful of people. Sorry!
How about empty stadiums for Batting Practice.
-The MLB wants the stadiums full, not our choice.
Can you tell us about the franchise mode. What new features can we expect.

-The biggest is the new spring training development but there's a lot of fine-tuning.
    Has baserunning been improved?
-Yes, we have a whole new (simplified) control system for baserunning as well. (The old one is available too.)
    How about pick off plays?
    -Improved
What about foul balls...Last year there were plenty of foul balls, except when playing zone hitting. Since that is now the default (a good thing) will there be a lot more foul balls?
    -Yes
Is the fileding improved (last year was not very responsive when compared to WSB or IP), leading to a lot of misplayed balls. Diving was terrible.
-The dives are a million times more responisve. (not quite as extreme as IP though)
Can you name a few of the new / improved batting stances & pitching deliveries which were were added?
-Ichiro, Pujols, Matsui, Boone, Sexson. Pedro, Schilling, Weber, Mussina, Kim (there's alot more)

Is it now easier to score runners from 2nd on a base hit?
    -Yes
will there be pickoffs in this year's game?
    -Yes
Can you use the ps2 headset with this game online??
    -Yes
What's been implemented to speed up the game?
    -It's the same
Has the human controlled pitching been tweaked so there's not so much pin point control?
    -Yes
I will answer more later...it's the busiest time of year for a baseball game developer. I am grateful Asb_Art is helping me out...you guys have a lot of questions.

      Re: Questions for ASB Man

Thanks for your time asb_man. Now i know this isnt probably something you prioritize, but its something i think would be cool.

You know how the season opener is sometimes played in a foreign country (rangers vs blue jays in puerto rico..this year- yankees vs. devil rays in the tokyodome)

Will you guys have foreign stadiums available for opening day games?

      Thanks...

p.s. i'd rather have gameplay tweaked than this is...i was just wondering

            Re: Questions for ASB Man

ASB Man, Thanks for answering our questions it's much appreciated, here are some more:

            1) What can we look forward to seeing in the coming weeks(leading upto the release date) from the offical ASB05/Acclaim website? Last years (asb 04) website was A+, very informative? How often will it be updated?

            2) Has this roster mangement problem in the exhibiton/default roster mode (non-franchise) been fixed: inability to trade/sign FA players who aren't the exact same position (this made manually (non-downloading) updating each teams default rosters impossible, which caused for lots of problems when trying to start-up a new franchise/season.

            3) Has the players disappering bug been fixed? This occured (quite often) in franchise mode when players were traded or demoted. Did you guys notice it before the game was released(wasn't enough time to fix)? Do you guys know what cauesed it?

            4) Are the new BlueJays unis in ASB 05?

            5) What teams have new stadiums(for 2004 regular season games) this year in ASB 05? Have the stadium tours from ASB 04 returned for 05? If so, what improvements (if any) have been made to the tours?

            6) Have you guys set a roster cutoff date yet? When will it be?

            7) Will ASB 05 be in Dolby Surround or Pro Logic 2?

            8) What are some of the improvements that have been made interms of audio for 05? Any new licenced songs? Will the batter walk-up music from 04 be back? any new tracks for that?

            Thanks alot.

I'm surprised that this hasn't come up yet:

In Create-A-Player, will the user be able to finally choose the age of the created player?

They had this kast year for the M's games in Tokyo that never happened, and the Expos games in Peurto Rico.

This brings me to something I really must praise about last years game asb_man, and some features involved with it that I hope you improve, even if just slightly (if you have the time). The Stadium Tours were great, because they allowed you to see a full colorful realistic rendition of what famous stadiums such as the Polo Grounds and old Tigers Stadium and others that you could never have seen in real life, unless you'd been alive in the early 1900's to 1950's. You even made it possible to play Batting Practice in all stadiums, which was pretty fun. Having the ability to practice in Tiger Stadium, even if just that, was an awesome feature last year that I STILL enjoy.

From what you've indicated so far, it appears that it's actually in the works for players to be able to actually play full games in all the stadiums in the game, is this true?

Will it be possible to have entire seasons playing in one of these Ballparks?

Are they in any way even MORE realistic?

Another thing that was true for all Baseball games last year was the freezing bug in franchise. Some people's copies froze after secen seasons, some after two or three, some after just ONE. Has there been any work to fix this bug? I'm hoping it will be less of a problem next year, because I hate having to worry about a team I just started building getting frozen.

Thanks again for all the great history and realism last years game brought, and I would hope next years' version brings even more!

Can you play with Throwback unis in your Franchise, like in WSB? Thanks, and I can't wait for the game, you guys are doing a great job.
