Heres a question...

ASB has innovated tons of features over the last few years, but MVP comes up with a couple new twists, and everyone acts as if this will be hands down the greatest game of all time. Is it frustrating to see a game thats still a year or two behind in the detail dept. get so much attention, simply because its EA?

Example...

ASB has always had a nice, fast pitch speed. Everybody complained. Now MVP has a nice fast pitch speed. Everybody acts like its absolutely wonderful.

There are more batting options, gameplay options, slider options, franchise options and crisper graphics, yet 61% of the latest poll has us supposed "hardcore" gamers getting MVP...Its not even CLOSE! Its 4 to freakin' 1 for cryin' out loud!

With all your hard work, answering the same million questions over and over again, doesn't it irk you that there are constantly 50-70 guys fawning over a game from a company that has NEVER put realism at a premium? Just because jeez, now I can be the Toledo Mudhens?

Don't get me wrong, MVP has me interested also, but so has ASB (And ESPN for that matter). But ASB and ESPN get arbitrarily written completely off by what is supposed to be the most knowledgable, realism-starved group of sports gamers in the world. Because of a crouch animation? Is that the most moronic thing you've ever heard? Or has MVP simply absorbed the HH slackers who simply don't have the hand-eye to deal with an icon?

Doesn't it piss you off?

I was with you up until your last statement. As a former "HH slacker" with "no hand-eye" I'll just say this. Analog or Zone hitting is IMO FAR more realistic that playing the "line up the dots to get a hit game."

I have toyed around with getting ASB, but hearing how easy it's zone hitting is, I might not. The indepth franchise mode might make me rent it and see for sure, but MVP's or ESPN's hitting system seems to be getting good previews in the press.

With today's analog controllers, I think cursor hitting should go by the wayside, but that's my opinon. You guys with "hand-eye" like it though, so that's that. The ideal game would offer both (yes, I know ASB does) but it remains to be seen if a game that offers both, offers both *well*.

thanks for answering all of these questions.

my question is about fenway park. i just learned that for opening day, fenway is going to have brand new seats on the right field roof, it's is supposed to be a great view, and i was wondering if you know if those seats are going to be in the game.

Any plans on the future in like ASB 2006 to put in like Sporting Weekly magazines in the franchise mode like NCAA 2004 does with Sports Illustrated to say a big game, a rivalry, a big perfromacne or something or the sort?

I feel ya man. I can still remember the last days of Triple Play and everyone was killing EA Sports. I can also remember last year, ASB made the greatest advances in Franchise mode yet was overshadowed by WSB because of WSB's graphics and "fun" gameplay. I still have faith in ASB and the hard work and dedication its developers put into this year's game and to their constant, constant dedication to the fans and gamers. I will be getting ASB and MVP this year just to see what each has over the other. GOod luck with sales this year guys, I hope you can find a way to stop all of those money losses.
