    Re: Questions for ASB Man

Can anyone help me out here, I am a bit confused by these few answers from AsB-man.

t sounds like you are saying that we can finally use the minor leaguers in Spring Training games. Will I be able to just use anyone from my team?..or will I have to put them on the ML roster?..and if so will that be without having to use an option?
You would have to call them up first and it does force you to use their option. Every year I call up my best prospect or two in Sept., so usually they are on the roster come spring training the following year.

Will there be split squad action in Spring Training games? I doubt it but eh, it would be a neat little feature but not really important IMO.
    - Sort of, there are scheduled double-headers against two different teams in two locations and you set you lineup for each one seperately. So I guess the answer is 'yes'.

In an earlier thread he said there was no 40 man roster. Did he just mean no 40 man roster until the end of the season. Is there a 40 man roster for spring training? Seems like it would be hard to field two seperate teams for split squad games if you only have 25 players. Figuring 8-10 of those are pitchers.

I know there is an option for 40 man roster (Yes or No). I guess I never really dove into this aspect last year, so I am curious when you actually have a 40 man roster.

    Thanks

Ed...one thing I can tell you. After I asked that question about the spring training rosters...ASBMan stated that bringing the guys to the ML WOULD use an option....however....later he checked with some other DEV's and stated that the options ARE NOT used for spring training...You can move anyone up without penalty.
The othre stuff....I'm not sure of ..

Thanks Knight. I love the whole idea of spring training this year, and split squad games sound like a great way to get even your not so good talent some playing time to build up their attribute points, I just don't understand how you can do it . Unless a few guys play on both teams.

What is the purpose of the 40 man roster option? Does it have something to do with options and waivers. Meaning, if a player is on the 40 man roster, you don't lose an option if they are in the minors?

            Color me confused

Please.... How about some Manage mode info. Are they still low scoring games, How are the pitch counts, Are there any walks, Has the offense been beefed up ? Are there still 10 pop-outs to every Ground out, and do K's still ave about 10 per team. ? Do runners advance bases this year. ?

Man, there are a ton of us waiting on Manage mode info.. I loved the game other than the lack of walks, and offense, low scoring games, low pitching ERA's and Batting ave..

If this simple issue has been fixed, I believe many Manage mode types will purchase it this year, If it hasn't, I will not buy it.

I will go with MVP or get a PS2 and try MLB which also has a manage mode.

Thanks, Any info will be appreciated…

You can use updated rosters by acclaim online (So no manually edited rosters). They didn't state how often, ASB_Man said was opening day, All-Star game, and trading deadlines are all essential.

                        Hope this helps.

I wish it was atleast 30 years, maybe next year they can increase it. I don't think I can play 30 years, but I do know there are a lot of simmers out there.

I am curious though if it is difficult to add extra years. MVP has 120 years, but doesnt break stats down year by year like ASB 05 does.
