Jack - so you actually created the Grays. That's great! I remember that it was hard to find really accurate lineups for the Negro Leagues back when TLR was out. I have two or three reference books that have been researched and put together in the past few years. If ASB is ever this "customizable," it would be great to try to recreate a whole classic Negro League season - such as 1936.

Great point about the customizability of the High Heat series on the PC! Unfortunately, I've never had the chance to play High Heat on the PC. But - I agree that if one of the console series could offer this user customization - many of the High Heat diehards could be converted....

It was a blast! I am a fan of Josh Gibson. I have one of his catcher mitts. My father-in law (William Hampton)played with Josh. He is 78 years old but still has a very clear mind and a wonderful memory. When Josh played with the Gray's the were awsome. What a talent! I also like the Crawfords. Pittsburgh is rich with baseball history.

My son is 8 and he knows more about Gibson then Bonds. I am very happy to hear we can use the classic stadiums for expansion teams this year. I see the Gray's making a comeback!

I just read a great book on the Grays (published in 2003 I believe) "Beyond the Shadow of the Senators..." it was all about the history of the Homestead Grays, with a focus on how they played in Griffith Stadium in Washington, DC. The book did a really nice job bringing Josh Gibson to life - and did an excellent job explaining the social context of the Negro Leagues in the 1940s and 1950s (with respect to race relations in post-WWII DC, the Senators' white owner's (Griffith) paternalistic view of the Negro Leagues, the controversy within the Negro Leagues to oppose the integration of Major League baseball - and a host of other broad social issues).

Have you read it yet? If not - give it a shot - I think you'd really enjoy it...

Thanks for the heads up! I will check that book out. I wish ASB had Griffith Stadium in it. Then my Gray's expansion would be perfect. I always liked Forbes Field,I put my Grays there because I know Josh played behind the dish there as a Crawford.

It's great to see someone else on the forum that has intrest in the old Negro Leagues. The Crawfords had some major talent. They were the Yankees of their league. Again thanks for the heads up!
