Who knows about ASB?

I have only played Toilet Paper and High Heat. Now that High Heat is ashes I am trying to decide upon a baseball game.

I do not play online nor do I d/l rosters. I enjoy dynasty mode wherein I will play and sim. I like being a GM but when I play I do not want fireballs and exploding bases. I want realistic games with baseball strategy taking precedence over flipping mascots and smoking locomotives.

Is the pitching/batting confrontation challenging? Do the players attributes play a major part in the outcomes?

Hard to tell until you try it, but sounds like this is your game. It's certainly the closest thing to a baseball simulation on a console this year.

Yes, and yes. In fact, the biggest complaint about last year's game (aside from the fact that it wasn't flashy enough) was that the pitcher-batter confrontation was too difficult.

It had accurate pitch speeds, meaning Randy Johnson fastballs came by in a flash. You pretty much had to swing as it left his hand. Also, it included every hitting interface from every other baseball game (including High Heat's interface), but many people didn't know you could change it from the default cursor.

RIGHT.

Anyways, if you're really into being a "GM," then look no further. Off the field, ASB is a really great and deep game. You might want to look into MVP as well... their additions of Minor leagues is really, REALLY interesting...

To be fair, it wasn't implemented as well as the HH series. There's plenty of hope that it has improved this year, however!

You could hit HR's way too easily, at least in my experience and from what I've read on other baseball message boards. I can't recall, but I don't believe this had 9 hitting zones as well... I could be wrong. It just "felt" off. Just wasn't as responsive.

You could hit HR's way too easily, at least in my experience and from what I've read on other baseball message boards. I can't recall, but I don't believe this had 9 hitting zones as well... I could be wrong. It just "felt" off. Just wasn't as responsive.
