Re: ASB2005 looks to be the clear winner this year....

I am definitely looking forward to this one. As a former HH player, this seems to be the most realistic of the bunch. I am curious about ESPN and will give it a shot later. But, from what I have seen, and playing a little of last year's version, this looks strong. I hope someone, anyone, can get a BB game right for once.

ASB is gonna be my game this year too, but I'm gonna see what MVP is all about, and I wanna c if it lives up to all this hype.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for.

If you want a realistic look, long-term depth/details, a simulation style, and so on, ASB definitely looks like the clear leader.

If you're looking for an arcade-style game with lots of flash, it definitely doesn't.

Unfortunately, 90% of gamers and critics are looking for the latter.

Not to get too far off topic, but why is it "unfortunate", Cub? Will the fact that a lot of people are exicted about MVP or another game influence your decision on what game you buy? Will it somehow hinder the enjoyment you will get from playing ASB?

If not, then why does it really matter what the critics, 90% of gamers or anyone else says?

            Just curious

Simple. Look at ESPN B-Ball. They F'd up a perfectly good game, because both NBA Street and the arcadish Live '03 outsold the ESPN 3 to 1. Espn said to hell with the sim aspects and went arcade. Now that game is trash to all but the hardcore SEGA fanboys and graphic whores.

I've always hated HH, but I hate the fact that it's no longer available for its fans 100000000000x's more. Why is HH no longer with us? Because though it was universally acclaimed as the most realistic baseball title by fans and critics alike, Average Joe ignored it and gravitated to the arcadish but "fun" MVP in DROVES.

                  Bye Bye HH...

Even ASB changed its default batting from icon to zone to appease casual gamers unwilling to take the week of BP neccessary to be sucessful hitting the laserbeam ASB pitches. Mvp's hype and sales will translate directly to how all the other games are designed in the future.

That sucks. Thats why I care. Thats why its unfortunate

You make it sound as if zone hitting is the only type of hitting in the game when it's not. Also may I remind you that they put in zone hitting LAST year so it's not like they suddenly felt the pressure of the arcade/casual fan and did this to appease them. They just made the game more user friendly with different options.
