Still dunno why MVP is getting all the press.

The game sucked hardcore last year. I know, I know, its EA and its all about money.

For me, its about a great game of baseball. Yes, MVP looks good--so far, but ASB has been a cornerstone of baseball videogames for years and this build (2005) looks to be the best ever!

I may still end up buying MVP for my PS2, but its amazing to see so many PS2 'faithfuls' that are just high on EA sports and no other companies. Life is all about variety people. Dont be such fanboys for pete's sake. I was playing EA Sports games the first year they came out, but you dont see me devoting my blood and money to them.

To be fair, MVP has made some huge strides this year. And it does some things that no other games do. But it's still way behind ASB in features, and the look isn't nearly as realistic and detailed.

I just can't get past how MVP has every HR disappear in midair directly over the wall, and then sets off fireworks (at every stadium - including Wrigley). The player models are much better than the bobbleheads from last year, but they still look like cartoons.

But that's what game critics want. MVP is the Madden/SSX of baseball games, and ASB is the NFL2K/Amped of baseball games. Two different types of games. The question is what you want. That's all that matters in the end.

Now if ASB would just go to 720p and/or widescreen, I'd have nothing more to ask for from this series.

uh, most of us hyped for MVP aren't fanboys, there's just a lot of info and impressions to get us hyped. Nivek and Shawn said it's the real deal, and Steve seems to enjoy it so far. I won't know until I play it myself, but there seems to be more than enough done by EA to warrant some hype. I'm still trying to figure out whether ASB or ESPN will be my Xbox Live game though...gotta wait till they drop and play both first.

MVP is so popular because of one thing, MARKETING. They make their games look so good before release and hype them up so much, that everyone gets excited. Much props to them, they work hard and in return are very successful. Will it be the best baseball game? Probably not, I'd give that honor to ASB, but their marketing department sure makes it the best baseball game in terms of sales.

I guess more people like arcadish-cartoony looking baseball games(MVP) over realistic baseball games(ASB).
Coming is my style, but I have to go.

Yep. Arcadish, cartoonish games appeal more to the fringe baseball fan - which is a hella lot more people. EA knows what they're doing.
