Here is an idea, and a question for you guys.
The idea, OS should start a sports game Hall Of Fame. It would have to be very selective. Maybe once or twice a year the editors of OS pick 5 to 10 games that we vote on, and only top two make it into the hall.
Now the question, if you could only pick one of the two games mentioned for the Hall, would it be BaseBall Stars or Bases Loaded?

Its a tough one for me, I loved both games, and spent way too many hours playing them. But if I had to choose I guess I would have to go with Bases Loaded. I remember daydreaming about the game while I worked my part-time job at McDonalds. I would literally think about the pitching mathcups with my Omaha team while I was frying burgers. And yes, I too had a notebook that I recorded all the stats in.

So, lets hear it. Who goes in the hall?

Old Timers Baseball
Tony LaRussa Baseball (1996 I think it was?)
NHL 2001 (Spent so much time on this game too)
Triple Play 96 (haha, I remember colliding players into each other on purpose)
MLB 99

There were many other games (especially from the early 90s) but I can't even remember them....

Which game was it that had special pitches like the Leaf-Ball and the Meat-Ball? I think it's the one that had that really slow and fat guy named BARN who could knock the crap out of the ball.

Re: Remember the fights in Bases Loaded?

I'm not sure if either of those are the game I'm thinking of here, but does anyone remember there was a game where you could immediately tell as soon as you hit the ball that it was a homerun, and the ball would just hang up there for ever? And of course, the sound of the ball in flight was this wicked cool tone? Because I remember my buddies and I got drunk for an entire weekend last year and played that game non-stop. When we hit homers we'd celebrate in corrolation with the ball's flight. Every single one went exactly like this:
As ball heads for the wall "Holyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy"
And soon as it clears "Sh!t!"

So as a whole it sounded like "Holyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Sh!t!"

May have been due to the jack & coke, but man, that never got old.

If any of you can help with that super accurate description I just gave "The game where you can tell its a homer immediately" then I'll be super impressed.

I suppose it would be easier to just goto my friend and ask, but we're all away in college now.

Awesome thread.

Hall Of Fame:
Tony La Russa 1 & 2
Ken Griffy Jr. Baseball (but not 'winning run' that game sucked)
Hardball 3 on the computer (Anyone remember that you had to line up two wheels to get a password to start the game?)
Baseball on Gameboy
RBI Baseball 3 on NES
Not sure if we're only doing baseball games here, but if not:

I'd like to add Tony LaRussa 3 (1996) to your Hall of Fame list, and the ultimate OG of baseball games: Earl Weaver Baseball.

And to your other sports list, we can't forget FPS Football.
