      Re: Roster Update for Xbox

Hey guys, I need your help here on a few things. First off, is there a way to change rosters between the levels (majors, AAA, AA, A) without having to drop them to the free agent list first? Second, I only plan to create the players that plan to see a good deal of playing time this season. I know of several, but please give me any suggestions as to who you would like to see created.

I am doing this because after playing HH for so many years everything else just doesn't feel and play right. I believe I have read that ESPN is trying to incorporate a few of HH's features, but it won't be the same. The closest we could possibly get is 989's game on PS2, and it wouldn't be close, either.

Thanks guys. This is taking a good deal of time to complete due to the fact that HH doesn't exactly have the friendliest system around to allow these changes to be made. I am working hard on them. I do have a new baby due in the next month (so basically at any time), so that could keep me from getting these finished sooner. I know you guys want them as much as I do, so that is my motivation.

            Re: Roster Update for Xbox

As far as I know, there is no way to promote/demote players between minors and majors when not in franchise mode, one of the ridiculous stumbling blocks in trying to update HH's rosters. You might want to consider having the roster update actually be a franchise save, if that's possible. It wouldn't be usable in exhibitions, but I think most people hanging on to HH are in it for the franchises seasons anyhow.

With regards to free agents, is there even a simple way to drop people from your roster? Maybe I overlooked something, but the only way I could find to mimic free agent signings were to make them trades, usually with some A-level scrub on the other end. Is it the "additional players" menu where you can cut players when not in franchise mode?

I agree about the interface. It's also surprisingly easy to overwrite rosters, since there's no clear separation of files.

                  Re: Roster Update for Xbox

The only way I have been able to make the players move back and forth between levels (outside of franchise mode) is to go into additional players and drop the player you want to move and pick up a scrub from the free agent list. Then I usually find the second player I want to move and use the same process but putting the original player I dropped into the second player's vacated spot. I then go back and trade the scrub I have picked up for the second player I dropped to the free agent list. It is confusing as heck to try to explain on here, but it works. It just is very difficult because the easiest way to move players between teams is through trading. When this happens, the game engine drops a player from one of the teams if the roster is too full. For example, I traded Junior Spivey and Craig Counsell to Milwaukee for Richie Sexson, and the system sent Spivey to the available players (free agent) list. I can only imagine this happened because all the levels on the Brewers were full, but it sucks. Then again, the HH engine seems to make its own decisions on who should be on the major league roster. I had the Cubs team perfect (at least as of today), but HH had 17 pitchers on the major league level and only 8 fielders. I fixed it through the method above, but that is ridiculous. For such a technically sound baseball game, HH sure isn't user friendly.

Does anybody know how to, or if it is even possible on the Xbox version, change the ages of the created players? All I can see is the stuff that is available on the edit/create player screen under the rosters part. That would sure help me greatly.
