The thing I like about ASB is that there is a chance on Game 143 of a 162 game season to see a different, realistic play develop, when I would have given up on seeing something new happening in the others after Game 20.
My favorite play from ASB 2004 happened late in the Red Sox season...
With Damian Jackson on second (with either none or just one out), my Nomar swings and misses at strike three, but the pitch gets by the catcher.
Jackson advances to third, while the catcher recovers the ball but throws it high into right field in the effort to get the out at first. I immediately send both Jackson and Garciaparra only to discover how quickly the right-fielder had backed up the play.
The throw from right field set up a banger at home, with the pitcher (excellent teamwork!) tagging Jackson just in time for the out.
It was a thing of beauty, both when it happened and when I watched that play over and over on replay.
