    The First Round-Up is Out

I read this on the TeamXbox forum. Someone got the new Official Xbox Magazine early and here is a summary of what they thought

    </font><blockquote><font class="small">Quote:</font><hr />

    ASB 2005: 7.2
+ Unique and awesome Spring Training Mode
    + Incredible beautiful ballparks
    + Xbox Live Play
    - Weak pitcher-batter interface
    - Fielder cam is a swing and a miss
    - User controlled replays are very limited

    ESPN MLB: 8.1
+ 720p, overall slick ESPN presentation
    + Xbox Live play
+ Curtain calls after big homers and international teams are nice inclusions
    - Pitcher/Batter interface needs tuning
    - Fielding and baserunning aren't dynamic enough
    - First Person Baseball jumps from player to player too much to immerse you like it does in ESPN NFL

    MVP: 9.1
    + Just plain plays great
    + Stunning animation
+ Terrific automatic and manual replays
+ Minor league teams and Manager Mode
    - The only baseball game with no online play; also means no roster updates
    - Some AI gaffes here and there

(The AI gaffes they make mention of in the article are: triples are too prevalent, CPU warms up a reliever in early innings of scoreless games, and the CPU makes too many diving catches.)

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

I also looked up last years scores from OXM: ASB(7.7); WSB(8.8); MVP(8.4)

    So...you still want ASB?

no, i am not saying that at all. in fact, that summary more that solidified my opinion that espn and asb are both going to have better ai than mvp.

maybe next time i should include for the sarcastically challenged

I just don't buy in to reviews. The best review you can get is from you yourself. So from a review like this I would'nt place too much stock in it. The only thing that brings up a red flag for me for ASB, is the "Weak Batter/Pitcher" interface, as this is what ultimately put me off of what could have been a very solid and deep title last year.

However only time will tell, and I think the returning ASB fans will more than likely be quite happy with this game.

Even people that don't like ASB, but are baseball fans, would never rate it a 7.2. Maybe BK can be the judge of that. BK, what rating would you give ASB 2004, even though you did not like it?

Basically what I mean is, ASB is a very solid and deep baseball game. Even if you are only into manager mode. I don't understand how any fan of baseball could not appreciate ASB for what it does bring to video games. Just my opinion of course

My main things about all these scores is, how are all these people missing all these bugs in MVP?

Anyway, ASB is my most anticipated game of 2004 for sure.
