Re: The First Round-Up is Out

Mark Twain: "Give a man a reputation as an early riser, and that man can thereafter sleep until noon."

Whenever I read 90+% of sports reviews, I think of the above quote. For whatever reason, a reputation builds around each series, and it really doesn't matter what's in the final product. Reviewers just see what they expect to see. And they play up, or minimize, faults (sometimes very similar faults... Willie Mays catches, anyone?), depending on the reputations that have built up.

The baseball subgenre has typically suffered this the most (although this year saw basketball make a real run at claiming the 'top' spot).

I'd fully expect the final compilations at GameRankings to mirror exactly this one set of scores which started the thread.

You nailed it right on the button. It is a shame that to see how we nitpick everything. Life is too short to devote your time into the littlest of details that refrains you from having fun. Talk about your game, let the developers know what you would like to see in next years game, answer people's questions about the game to help them make a better decision on which game to get, but don't go attacking someone else's fun. I guess people attack other games to feel better or secure about your purchase...to each their own, to me that would be a waste of time. I would much rather go online and kick some *** and most of all have FUN doing it! If another game of the same sport intrigues you from the facts you read, go out and rent it yourself, don't take someone's opinion to heavily, you might get disappointed.

Anyways, enough of my rambling... on to more important things like going to Links to get my career finished!

I've got that OXM, and they said ASB's player models/faces are the worst of any baseball game this year.

That alone should invalidate the whole review.
