All of these gameplay questions are addressed in detail in the "Questions for ASB Man" sticky thread.

But just generally, the development team heard all of the complaints about the gameplay and made an effort to improve it in every way possible. Most of the problems have either been eliminated or "greatly reduced" according to the devs. That includes pinpoint accuracy, vacuum catches, and so on.

I am in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp, maybe because I am from the Show Me State. But I have seen ASB promise things before and have them not be implemented nearly as well as one would have hoped. Of course, you can say that for most game franchises, but that still doesn't mean ASB gets off the hook. When I see a better variety of hits, better baserunning AI, better CPU offense (especially in manage mode or CPU vs. CPU mode), more erratic pitching, no more of the vacuum catching or hitting balls that appear to have already been caught by the catcher, then I'll believe it. Until then, I'll remain a skeptic. Especially after getting sucked in by the MVP hype; that game plays VERY well, but the dynasty mode is a mess.

I am hoping ASB gets the best of both worlds, with great gameplay AND a deep, functioning dynasty/franchise mode. But I believed all the ASB talk last year that the gameplay problems were addressed, and while some were, there were still way too many unrealistic issues. But hey, we'll know soon! I pre-ordered my copy last night, so I am hoping I am not let down a third straight year by ASB. The game does so many things well (franchise mode, the stadiums, etc.) that I am praying praying that it all comes together this year.

I too am from the Show Me State and frankly, ASB has yet to show me they're committed to overhauling their gameplay. They can say it over and over but until it's proven, I'm not buying.
