    Re: IGN review is up!

3 pitch speeds, 5 difficulty levels.

The review stated "even on the highest difficulty level" the pitch speed was slow. Difficulty level does not determine pitch speed. I just don't think they know there is a seperate option for it.

            Re: IGN review is up!

Now is this because the computer is using Fielder CAM?? So if you turn off fielder cam, this no longer becomes an issue?

To make matters worse, when the computer is fielding, they will occasionally show you the wrong fielder, making it extremely difficult to comprehend what's going on.There was one instance where the camera was focused on the center fielder while the ball was really being caught by the right fielder in the distance. The center fielder they were showing was playing shallow, while the ball was caught in deep right. Since the camera was on the shallow fielder, I didn't send the runner tagging from third even though he would've easily beat the throw from deep right. Another instance took place on a chopper off the plate. The camera was positioned behind the shortstop even though the pitcher was making the play. The pitcher bobbled the ball and the runner was safe, but I didn't actually see what happened until I looked at the replay.

Actually the IGN article was more positive then what I just read in OXM. OXM says that the pitching is horrible, that pitches dont break and move in ways that are impossible. IGN said,,

On the field, ASB's behind-the-pitcher cam makes for one of the most enjoyable pitching experiences this season. The perspective really lets you see the breaks of the ball, not to mention when the ump blows a sure strike. It also helps you see the fatigue in your pitcher's throws as gradually your big breaking curve starts to hang and the next time you throw it might cause you whiplash as its smoked over the fence.

            Dont know who is right.

Are all these reviewers so far up EA's arse that it makes them blind. I have purchased ASB the last two year and I really enjoyed each version. To hear all these reviews bash ASB's player models is just wrong. ASB is the only baseball game that has the players batting stances down perfectly. ESPNs games haven't even been close, although this years MVP is very good.

Don't get me wrong, this years MVP game is a great game and if it was online for the XBox, I may not be buying ASB this year.

Ever since I saw some guy from IGN on ESPN talking about sports games, I haven't taking any of their reviews seriously. He was going on and on how great Madden is, and didn't even mention NFL2k. He also followed with how great other EA sports games are. EA makes great products, but there are other sports gaming companies out there that do a really good job, and better for some sports...[cough] football.

So my message to IGN is this, please jump off the EA band wagon. Review games based on gameplay, not the name.

So if you DO use fielder cam, the computer uses it too? Is that correct? That doesn't seem right. If I'm out in the field, I should see the play from the fielders perspective, but if I'm hitting I shouldn't see this fielder cam at all. Did I read that right?
