    Re: IGN review is up!

The reviewers are making a big deal about the fielding cam because Acclaim is touting it as such a 'revolutionary' feature. I'm sure that if it sucks, I will just turn it off like everyone else, but the reviewers are rating it just like they rated the minor leagues in MVP and the EYEToy in MLB. Its not enough to just fix bugs and make a better game anymore, its all about adding new, significant features and how well they work.
Me personally, I could care less about the fielding cam if the gameplay holds up, but to the reviewers, it has to play great AND have alot of new great stuff year after year.

Oh well, doesn't sound like they improved last year's lackluster game. It's moved from buy to rental to me. You can all whine like girls about sites and mags being biased towards EA, but that's BS and you know it. These are games. Stop taking each negative review as an indictment of your self-worth. Sheesh. THEY'RE GAMES.

Yeah, outside of the fielder cam, the reviewer gave praise to the game, so I can understand why you don't think they've improved it at all. I guess you're also right about the way we "whine like girls". You're right. Hardly any reviewer, if any, mention the laundry list of bugs that are a fact with this year's MVP, they get double the amount of pages in the review, but the reviewer certainly isn't biased towards EA. (sarcasm off)

Yes, they're games, and if the reviews are nothing to get excited over to you, then why did you let it affect your decision to rent instead of buy? The forums are a place to express opinions about games, and none of the rules say they have to be glowing and positive if the subject isn't. If all you want to read is positive reviews, go back to IGN and read everything with the initials "EA" in it.

                        Re: IGN review is up!

A couple thoughts on the review:

                        - No mention of other "new features" in ASB05 including Custom Soundtrack support for Batter Walkups and Bullpen Entrances (XBox-Only) and no mention of Online LIVE play (but this may be due to the service not being online at the time of the write-up).

                        - They failed to mention how FielderCam could be turned off. As a matter of a fact, the traditional fielding camera looks VERY good this year - very "tv broadcast" like.

                        - I thought ASB_Man said there were five pitch speeds this year?

                        - The review definitely seemed rushed...especially towards the end of the review (on Page 2). Everything was a paragraph in length. Jon Robinson, the author, definitely didn't go into detail in this review.

                        - I can understand when a reviewer wants to compare Game A (in this case, ASB05) to Game B (MVP2004) but I hate the fact that they spend more time praising Game B when it's Game A's spotlight. That goes for most of the reviews for ASB and MLB that I've read so far.
