    Re: Possible Zone Fix

I play with Zone hitting on the slowest Sim speed, and I get a ton of foul balls. I have played probably 15 games and I was say in a 9 inning game there are probably 10-15 foul balls a game. I use the right analog stick as well.

I have also started to notice this pattern as well about the number of HR on pitch speed. I have been playing on the slowest and having a lot of reaslitc scores for both me and the computer. Yet when I bumped up the speed, my first game against the Marlins I scored 11 runs.

There is something to what is being said. Try the slowest speed with analog batting and see if anyone else gets realism. I also play with smart counts and random as well.

Wow, that's great news Matt. I've never seen a foul ball on zone, but then again, I've never played on slowest pitch speed. It seems the pitch speed has an effect on hitting.

SoMiss... You just need to practice 2d cursor on fastest pitch speed is alright, 3D cursor is a great challenge but can be easy to master, just practice. Its what I love about ASB, it takes practice!

I have not played this game yet, but I have a question for people who think zone hitting is too easy: is it possible you guys are just great video gamers? Or maybe you "swing for the fences" too much? Is it possible to use zone hitting and just make contact and not try to jack the ball out of the park everytime up? Or is there just one universal swing button? Does pushing the analog up have anything to do with hitting homers? Any info here will help make my decsion easier between ASB and ESPN.

I think I am a pretty good baseball gamer. I am not the best out there, but I am pretty good too (My first baseball game was actually Earl Weaver for the Apple, an all time classic that way back when even had ejections). I have played every version of High Heat (including the original by team .366 which had terrible graphics but a great engine). On ASB with zone hitting with slow pitching, smart counts, zone hitting and no aids, I can still strike out and still be held to a few runs. I still have a big game too, but this is common in real baseball. That is why this game is a winner for me now.

By the way, on the foul ball issue. I do get plenty of foul balls, but they are all either left or right foul balls. No foul balls straight back (which I do get plenty of in MVP). The number of fould balls is good, just not the accuracy.

I have never hit a foul ball to my recollection with zone. maybe the pitch speed will help out in that area too? I think I'll try it tonight. I just hope the slower speed doesnt' mean i'll strike out less, which I do at a reasonable rate on the sim speed!
